LSU QB Jordan Jefferson reportedly involved in fight at a bar...(LA Times)

+

Baton Rouge, LA — LSU senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson and some unidentified teammates were reportedly involved in a fight outside a Baton Rouge bar early Friday morning. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Jefferson and about "15-20 LSU football players" were present when the incident occurred around 2 a.m. (ct) a at Shady's bar. "We are aware of the incident that took place at an off-campus location at which some of our players were present," LSU head coach Les Miles said in a statement issued Friday afternoon. "We don't know to what extent our players were involved. We are trying to gather as much information as possible to get a better understanding of what exactly took place last night." The players were gone when police arrived and began interviewing witnesses. According to the report, four people involved in the fight sustained minor injuries and transported themselves to local hospitals. Miles held a meeting with his players Friday to discuss the matter. Jefferson, a two-year starter, is expected to help the Tigers challenge for the BCS title this season. via LA Times

Nicolas Batum organizes "All-Star Exhibition" game in France

3

"Now that the lockout is underway, basketball related news in America has been relatively quiet. On the other side of the pond, international basketball still has news these days. According to the French site OuestFrance.fr, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker is expected to attend an exhibition game in France on Friday assembled by Portland Trail Blazers' Nicolas Batum. Even more surprising, is former Spur and new Indiana Pacer guard George Hill is expected to make an appearance, as well as new NBA champion and former Spur Ian Mahinmi." The Boom Dizzle Theory by Bill Simmons....................................... "Bad crowd" + "hopeless situation" = "Baron checks out." Stops driving to the basket, launches bad 3s, lets petty agendas determine his play. I will forgive him at some point for occasionally freezing out Gordon last season -- a gifted offensive player, someone who always plays hard, and someone who played one-on-one defense against Kobe better than anyone I saw all season except for "Trick Or Treat" Tony Allen. By the way, "Checks Out" Baron launched 296 3s last year and missed 73 percent of them. Indefensible. "Good crowd" + "hopeless situation" = "Baron might show up." His two best games of last year? Home wins during sellouts against the Celtics (24 points, 13 assists, game-winning shot) and Lakers (25 points, 10 assists). Not a coincidence. This is why I thought New York should have pursued Baron last summer: He feeds off the crowd. Watch the highlights from those two glorious Golden State years, specifically the home playoff games against Dallas and Utah in 2007. Just watch the iconic Kirilenko dunk. This isn't someone meant to play in half-filled arenas for people half-heartedly looking through their BlackBerrys. "Good crowd" + "good situation" = "Baron will show up." And he will. So that's the hope: good crowd, good situation. The past three seasons were miserable, personified by the time last winter when I asked my daughter to come with me and she responded, "I don't want to go; it makes me sad." I don't think she'll be sad this season.

Jets Cut Former SDSU Aztec Kevin O'Connell

He has played for the Patriots & The Jets. Thats Rex Ryan & Bill B. He has some amazing physical tools(4.63, big, some called him poor mans Tebow) and before the draft drew rave reviews from the late Don Coryell - RIP. I personally would much rather have him over Crompton, he is a local guy & could be a perfect replacement for Billy Volek when his contract is up.
