Adam Schefter this morning on Mike and Mike said if he was the 49ers that he would be looking into trading for Julius Peppers with one of the 1st round picks that we have befor the trade deadline. To me that makes alot of sense in that it upgrades our D-line play and pass rush insantly. Teams will have to double team him freeing up Justin Smith on the other side. To me I would make the trade happen in a heart beat but I wouldn't give them back their pick but I would trade them our 1st round pick and sign Peppers to a long term deal, what do yall think?

Torry Holt Released

They finally released him, now it is time to get Issac Bruce to tell him about all the wonderful things here so he can sign but here is the story from profootballtalk.com

The St. Louis Rams announced today that they have cut veteran wide receiver Torry Holt, ending his tenure in St. Louis after a decade.

“The Rams will forever be grateful for the way Torry Holt represented the Rams on the feld and in the community,” Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom said in a statement. “He is an All-Pro in every sense of the word. Over the past 10 seasons, Torry has proven himself to be one of the finest receivers in league history.

“This is a difficult decision because Torry has meant so much to the organization. In my mind and for all Rams fans, Torry will always be a Ram and we wish him and his family nothing but the best as they move forward.”

Holt joins former Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace, who was cut by the Rams, on the NFL free agent list.

Holt ranks 11th on the NFL charts with 869 catches and 14th overall with 12,660 yards.

“Torry Holt has had an outstanding career here in St. Louis,” Rams General Manager Billy Devaney said.

According to profootballtalk.com alex smith has agreed to redue his deal today. It is around 2-3 a year for two years. I am happy it frees up some more money now onto Jonas Jennings I hope. Here is the article

At a time when one of Tom Condon’s high-profile clients is contemplating taking a salary haircut in order to stay with a California team, another high-profile Tom Condon client has opted to reduce his compensation in order to keep his job.

Per a league source, the 49ers have agreed to a new two-year deal with quarterback Alex Smith, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 draft.

Though specific numbers are not yet available, we’re told that it’s normal two-year money for a backup-type deal, but all in all a fair package.

Our guess is that Smith will make something like $2 million to $3 million per year.

It’s not chump change, but the tables definitely have turned since Smith was the first pick, and Aaron Rodgers did the green room slide.
