Barr, at 6-5, 238, is a better physical fit at linebacker. He was an outstanding high school linebacker and Mora said he's probably a better fit at linebacker at the next level. "When you look at him physically, he looks exactly how you want an outside linebacker to look," Mora said. "What he told me is he felt like to play at the next level, that was a better fit for him. Our opinions kind of matched."

"He's always going to get the best out of you," Dennison said. "And it's not just about being a football player. It's about you being a good person, doing the right thing, opening doors for people. He's not only someone who's going to get you even better. He's someone you can trust. I know he impacted my life, and not just on the football field. He's going to make a kid's life better."

Jim Mora expects a 'very physical spring' - Los Angeles Ucla Blog - ESPN Los Angeles

He said he expects most players will buy in, but expects there will be a handful that won't and that will serve as his form of football Darwinism. "Those that won’t probably need to find another place to play football,"

Bill Redell announces retirement from coaching

Redell, 70, started the Oaks Christian program from scratch, and in 12 years built it into a powerhouse, winning seven Southern Section titles. Redell is a good friend of the Mora family. Hope their next HC is also UCLA friendly.

3-point stance: Seven-on-seven summit

The summit that USC is hosting Tuesday, which will include Trojans’ head coach Lane Kiffin, Jim Mora of UCLA, Steve Sarkisian of Washington and, by teleconference, Urban Meyer of Ohio State, as well as athletic directors and compliance directors from across the country, is to discuss seven-on-seven camps and how best to handle them.

Who's got returning production in Pac-12?

UCLA Passer: Kevin Prince (1,828 yards, 12 TDs, 8 INTs) Rusher: Johnathan Franklin (976 yards, 5 TDs) Receiver: No (Nelson Rosario) Reaction: Prince is going to have to fight off redshirt freshman Brett Hundley to hold onto his job. The Bruins also lost third-leading receiver Taylor Embree. The pecking order at WR will be interesting to watch this spring, as coordinator Noel Mazzone likes to spread the field with four wideouts. Franklin leads a strong cast at RB.

Cal Football Recruiting Event: Tosh Lupoi Broke His Word - California Golden Blogs

Thompson also compared the role of a recruiter to being a car salesman: You know at the end of the day you want the recruit to buy your product and you’ll do whatever it takes to sell him on your program, but the good recruiters are the ones that make sure that product really fits the features and priorities the kid has in mind. For example, a recruit might say his top three priorities are academics, playing time, and the geography/location, but the recruiter has to peel back the onion to determine in what order those are really the priorities, to make sure that what Cal can offer is really a fit.

UCLA’s Jim Mora: Recruits remember I was coach when Falcons last won a playoff game

"The bottom line is this: The last time the Falcons won a playoff game, I was the head coach," Mora told the AJC. "Kids remember that game, the 47-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams. A lot of kids around Atlanta, the state of Georgia and the Southeast follow the Falcons. They know that was the last time that the Falcons have won a playoff game."

NCAA proposing rule changes

The committee also voted to move the touchback distance on free kicks to the 25-yard line instead of the 20-yard line to encourage more touchbacks. NCAA data indicates injuries during kickoffs occur more often than in other phases of the game.

UCLA getting Mora momentum

"We're not going to wait to win. You have a chance to get in on the ground floor of something that we believe can be special. If you're a competitor and you like challenges, this is for you."

Luke Gane, Aplastic Anemia Survivor and UCLA Bruin

"Junior year is when the majority of recruitment happens," Gane says. "I was told I was a Division II player at best and I wanted to prove them wrong." His dream was always to be a Bruin, being a native Californian. And it’s come true; as redshirt freshman, he’s seen action on special teams and on the offensive side of the ball at tight end.

Tarver Named Raiders Defensive Coordinator

Prior to joining the 49ers in 2001, Tarver spent three seasons (1998-2000) as a graduate assistant coach at UCLA, where he worked primarily with the defensive backs while assisting with the special teams. During his tenure with the Bruins, three defensive backs - cornerbacks Ricky Manning and Jason Bell along with safety Marques Anderson - joined the NFL ranks.

UCLA Football: A Herculean Task

Meanwhile, no one needs to explain the writing on the wall: there is plenty of opportunity at UCLA. If that wasn’t frank enough, 26 new recruits and a guy named Jim L. Mora should spell it out: "I think that all these guys have a chance to play as a freshman. I think that, that what we’re looking for is competition, at all spots on this football team. Every single day it’s about competing. I would say that there is not one spot on this football team that’s secure right now and there’s not one spot that’s not open for competition." Marcus Rios: Says "Real big surprises"

I’m sure you know some things that the general public doesn’t, and I’m not going to ask you to disclose anything, but should Bruins fans expect big things on Signing Day?

This is spectacular! Congratulations Bruins!

Cal finds a replacement for Tosh Lupoi
