Have to say there just isn't anything I enjoy better than a tailgate party during a Stanley Cup run!! Like most in the Raleigh, NC area I'm a transplant. But won't sell out on sports team loyalty. OK-OK so I'm not a Red Wings fan anymore. After bearing witness to how the 2002 Stanley Cup run took hold of this area, I'm a Canes fan-period.....and NO I don't put on a Red Wings sweater when they come to Raleigh!!!
Example of my loyalty-How many folks have you spoken with that are proud to be a Lions fan. Look no further, after 0-16 dem' Lions only improve from here. Matt Millen is gone!! Free at last!! If the Arizona can make it to the big dance-Detroit could be next!!
Best hockey game I've ever seen, has to be Game 2 of the 2006 Cup run...trailing New Jersey 2-1 in the third, Stall scores the tying goal with 3 seconds to go and is only bested by Wallin scoring the game winner in overtime for the 3-2 win!! I thought the roof was gonna blow off the RBC center!! The best part of all that is I won the tickets to that game off the radio!!
Honorable mention goes to game 7 against the Sabres in 2006-three unanswered goals by the Canes to go on to win the Eastern Conference and the Cup!! Great stuff! Not to mention we got to send the Sabre nation packing!!

The 23rd pick since 2000...
With all the mock draft hype revving up, I could speculate with all of that but I decided maybe a glance back at the 23rd pick could be interesting. I know, I know...... no two NFL drafts are ever the same. But what the hell, why not take a look. So I pulled the list to see what true diamonds have been at this pick.

Rodney to Anaheim
The Hockey News is reporting that the Ducks have signed Bryan Rodney to a one year deal-
I share Rutherford's opinion regarding D men, that they are best tempered at the NHL level. Rodney was signed as a free agent by the Hurricanes in 2008. Over his three seasons with the Canes, the London, Ontario native played 33 games, scored 1 goal, tallied 12 assists, and has a plus -7 rating. At 27 years old, Rodney still has some prime playing years ahead of him. I am sorry that he's headed west...here's to hoping that he doesn't turn into a regret. He will definitely be missed in Charlotte. Led D-men in points last season (47) and was second in team assists (38).
