ESPN writer has LaMarcus 5th in MVP voting
Espn writer Michael Wallace places LaMarcus Aldridge 5th in MVP race, behind only DRose, Dwight Howard, LeBron and Kobe. Not bad.
GM [Trade Idea]: Chris Paul to Portland
[Ed. note: Sorry, had to insert the [Trade Idea] into the title, had a near heart attack when I first saw it]
Blazers fan here. I know this situation may have about a 0.0003% chance of happening, but just pretend you are the Hornets GM. If Portland GM Kevin Pritchard called you this offseason and asked what it would take to get CP3 from you, what would you tell him?
Oden Drawer - 3/15
i saw the first half hour of courtside tonight, but missed the rest, including Oden joining them by phone.
Roy for MVP (seriously)
Now, I realize this is a bit premature and it might be somewhat driven by my immense homerism but................... If the Blazers continue winning like this with all these injuries, and Brandon Roy continues to score the way he has, I think he deserves to win this seasons MVP far more than anybody else, including Kobe, LeBron and Wade. Obviously the media won't think so because their love for the three previously mentioned is too strong to overcome, but Roy at least deserves some serious consideration. Here are a few reasons why other top players don't deserve it as much as Roy (other than the reasons above).
Kobe Bryant: Although he is the best player in the league, the Lakers would still be extremely good without him. They have four other very good players (Bynum, Odom, Gasol and Artest. To compare, the Celtics only have three. Lakers have five. So without Kobe, Lakers would probably be able to garner a five or six spot in the west by years end.
LeBron James: The biggest road block for Roy winning, because unlike Kobe, The Cavaliers would be next to nothing without LeBron.
Dwyane Wade: Same as LeBron, but not as big a threat because Roy is closer to Wade's skill level than LeBron's, and the Heat aren't as good (obviously).
Dwight Howard: Lower scoring numbers as Roy, doesn't help his team as much despite the fact he's their defensive force. Not much of a threat compared to the first three.
Steve Nash: Bigger threater earlier in the season, less os since Suns fell back to Earth, but everybody knows he is the heart and soul of their team
Chris Paul: Not really a threat due to New Orleans poor play. Only reason he would be a threat is because he is more loved by national media than Brandon Roy is.
One major thing that would prevent this from happening (besides the star-biased NBA media) is the returns of Rudy and Nicolas. Not only will this lessen the 'injured Blazers keep winning' affect on the rest of the nation, because at that point (barring no more major injuries, we will 'only' be without Oden, Outlaw and Przybilla. Also, the addition of those two will obviously decrease scoring averages for a few players, and this would most likely include Roy. I will soon be making a website for the ROY FOR MVP campaign. Call me crazy, say I have too much time on my hands, but Brandon Roy has easily shown he is on the top level of the NBA elite. He doesn't have the talent of Kobe or LeBron, but he puts it all on the line every night like a better leader version of Allen Iverson in his early Sixer days. Anyways, I'll put up another post sometime soon with the url for the soon to be created website, and in the meantime..........thoughts?
