clarification on cost of firing hawkins after this season?
if we fire hawk AFTER this season, do we have to buy him out? or is it just "here's a box for your crap and don't let the door hit you on the way out?"
if we do, then would that buyout + the big 12 exit fee again prevent us from firing him?
if no buyout, given the the big 12 exit fee, it still seems like we'd have to target a coach on the lower end of the salary spectrum. agree? i don't know much about the budget and what resources are available for coaches salaries.
i'm looking for people with better knowledge of the football budget and hawkin's firing/buyout scenarios to chime in with thoughts...?
thanks.
requiem for a season
they achieved well beyond what should of been possible given the circumstances. and well...i give respect for that. well done blazers, well fought. take these lessons and grow on.
in the interest of brevity, i've been thwarted, so, a few more words i'll will to the end of this. in the big picture, which is to say, in the chase for a championship, hopefully this season as an experience proves useful to the key cogs in the wheel. if nothing else, it proves some fight where most likely one would find only capitulation.
well done, 2010 portland trailblazers.
miller to lead blazers off season work outs?
imagine if this is what G.O. did...he might resemble oliver miller...
blazers rank 2nd in M$/MW this year
as KP2 points out though, they may not be long for the top of this list.
how about bellotti for 2011 season?
he's out as the AD at oregon, doing analysis for ESPN college football this season, but after that...? i'd love to see him replace hawkins after next season. his track record at oregon, latest weirdness around getting forced out as AD aside, was sterling. the ducks went 116-55 during his time and beat us in a couple of bowls if i remember correctly...his teams were fun to watch as well.
i fear he might be a little too expensive for us though, especially without a phil kninght type around.
any thoughts/comments on bellotti as a potential replacement?
orthotics...do the blazers use these?
i saw a link to this article on the cavs and orthotics over on truehoop this morning, and it made me wonder if the blazers, especially their bigs, use these? anyone know?
tim donaghy book mentions blazers 2000 western conf. finals loss
not that i like to complain about officiating, but i found this mention by donaghy in his book about the blazers-lakers 2000 conference finals kind of interesting:
----
The 2002 series certainly wasn't the first or last time Bavetta weighed in on an important game. He also worked Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals between the Lakers and the Trail Blazers. The Lakers were down by 13 at the start of the fourth quarter when Bavetta went to work. The Lakers outscored Portland 31–13 in the fourth quarter and went on to win the game and the series. It certainly didn't hurt the Lakers that they got to shoot 37 free throws compared to a paltry 16 for the Trail Blazers.
----
i was unable to watch the game, and as i fan of the blazers, i could never bring myself to watch it later. i'd be interested to hear what those of you who actually saw this game think of donahey's account? obviously, his credibility is fairly questionable at this point...
and better yet, if we got cheated, do you feel better or worse about that collapse?
