The White Sox will celebrate the inauguration of their No. 1 fan on Tuesday with a private viewing party at U.S. Cellular Field.

Barack Obama, who has been informally invited to throw out the first pitch at The Cell's opening day on April 6, is a South Sider who frequently dons a well-worn Sox cap.

All guests will be required to wear Sox caps to the event, which is not open to the public. Those invited include Sox front office staff and children from schools near the ballpark. A congratulatory sign will be displayed along the Dan Ryan Expressway at 35th Street. And the Sox also will send mascot Southpaw to ride on the Illinois float in the Inauguration Parade.

Surprised we haven't had more fan posts about this but I think this is appropriate.

Whether you agree with his policies or not, this is truly a ground breaking moment in American history. It is nice to finally have a South Sider in the house. We did not win the World Series this year, but both the White Sox and Obama have both exceeded all expectations this year. It is a new day in the United States of America and a new day for us Sox Fans!
