Why are we the only national championship team not on this poll?
•Blue Hose no match for the Orange
SHOULD IT SAY "Blue Hoes no match for the Orange" Americas wierdest college nickname
I WAS SO EFFING CONFUSED...........
So, my nine year old daughter decided she wanted to play grade school basketball. Living not too far from Syracuse, the brain surgeon who founded the league for girls decided it would be cute to call the league the Little East. By now, you have already figured out where this post is going.
Well, the first three weeks was interesting to say the least. It was entertaining, watching nine year olds try so hard to play the game. My girl was even doing well, against Villanova, St. Johns, and Pittsburgh. They where 2-1, then came her week four game, peeked at the schedule to see what time it was, got her to the gym and realized she was playing Syracuse....................
Close game my kid was playing well, then I made the mistake of looking at the scoreboard with 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter. My daughters team was winning by 2, Syracuse stole the ball and scored a layup with 25 seconds remaining. In bound pass to my kid, she unfortunately dribbled it off her foot and out of bounds.
So I yelled to her it was ok, just play good defense. Now the weirdest thing happened, instincts took over and I forgot who I was rooting for. Syracuse scored with 5 seconds left after 4 or 5 missed layups and rebounds. My dumbass threw my hands in the air and yelled yes!!!!!!!!
When I noticed all the dirty looks I was getting from the parents of the other girls on her team it hit me, that I was in fact cheering the wrong team. Did I mention my daughter plays on the Georgetown team? Now the look on my face must have been priceless, because one of the other dads was killing himself laughing. The moms seemed annoyed, but really, I just got confused.
After the game, I confessed to my kid. She said "I thought that sounded like you", I then took her out for ice cream and she said she forgave me and laughed about it.
Just thought I would share that, so we could all get a laugh. Especially at the end of such a crappy Cuse week.
Well........
It looks as though, I may have been right again. With Penn State about to lose to Iowa, it appears they may be no better than a 4th place in the big ten after all. I think they will lose to Ohio St and Mich, which means that no they are not an elite team this year as many suggested. Looking at their schedule going back to back at Wisconson and at Mich St, they could even lose one of those games.
As for the Cuse, we are still do not know if we are good.Though next week we will find out, South Florida is a very good team.I will be enormously impressed if we win that game.I dont believe in moral victories, but even playing them tough and losing a close hard fought game will be impressive.
I am encouraged by our hitting and pursuit to the ball, by the end of the year our front seven should be considered one of the better groups in the league.Todays game was, well not overly impressive especially the first half. Can we consider that a trap game? But seriously, 2 onside kicks lost in one game and 2 fake punts converted.Start preparing today guys, huge game Saturday. That is a team we can measure ourselves against.
IT SURE WOULD BE NICE
A few weeks back we had a discussion about making the dome a better place for basketball. Many of you people who claim to be smarter than I called me a dumb ass when I suggested we spin the court 90 degrees.
I would like to re-address that conversation, did anyone watch the final four, that atmosphere was electric. Much like I said before, raise the court. It can be done, maybe not for every game. But we can do it for the biggest game. Can you imagine having 50,000 people watch a Cuse vs. Uconn. Or even a Gtown beat down, I am surprisedthis actually hasnt already been tried at least once in the dome.
I have to also add, we need the curtain back for all other games, not expected to attract 30,000 people.
DAJUAN MAY BE PERFECT FOR TNIAAM
Just thought this was funny, considering our discussion I brought up last week. Jamesville-Dewitt's freshman phenom Dajuan Coleman was named to the All CNY Basketball 3rd team. Here is is little bio from the article, check out his song that gets him "fired" up before a game.

DROPPING LIKE A ROCK
It was just a month or so ago, we just signed a top twenty recruit. It was said he was a poor man's Kevin Garnett when he applies himself. Another one I read was, he is a cross between Dikembe Mutombo and Hakim Warrick. As if that wasn't sweet enough, his commitment came a few months removed from his decommittal from G-town. Yes, I am talking about Dashonte Riley.
I like to go back every now and then, just to see any updates that may have been made. Dashonte is dropping like a rock. Rivals apdated their rankings and this is what they say.

Thats a far cry from them saying he was a poor mans KG. Scouts.com also dropped him down to #57 on their list. I realize these lists dont mean everything, but they are usually relatively accurate. It is concerning a bit to see such a drastic drop on both sites, I just hope he isnt another project.

SNOWBALL PROTOCALL
I was watching Outside The Lines this morning, and i learned something new. Something I, that I would have guessed could happen. I think this explains why our snowball didnt catch fire. Appearently before it catches fire, and after it has started to roll downhill, at some point it has to bleed. It all makes sense now.
For everyone who didnt get to see, at the 4:34 mark this highly educated ncaa official enlighten me to the order in which these thing happen. while she was talking about package deals in college basketball. It is really a good piece, pay special attention to Tim Floyd at USC and their way of getting around the scholarship rules.
Another part was Caliparri not thinking he had done anything wrong, though seems to get a bit defensive about the subject, interesting.

Also this may be where our good ole coach has his appearant disconnect with kids today, it could just be that he wont bend the rules to bring in this type of kid. For that we should praise the Hall Of Famer, not call for his job.
DAVID OKU
rivals radio interview about the 3min 50 sec mark is where you need to pay attention
IN ALL THIS EXCITEMENT
It seems we all failed to recognize our Orange Lacrosse teams 22-3 pummeling of P.U. I know Providence is rather crappy, and I also realize Providence is a college and not a university, but............P.U. has such a better ring, especially after the way I saw hem play Lacrosse yesterday, should be another fun season....... and since i did not quite make seventy five words I will also state that i hope i hit seventy five because i ran out of things to say
INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE
I found this snippet on the GREATFUL VOL, a UT blog
And of course there is David Oku, the #1 All-purpose RB and long-time UT committment. To be frank, I am tired of writing about Oku. If there ever was a highschool prima-donna, Oku is it. After being a solid committment to UT up until 2 weeks before NSD, he is now no longer committed. He spent the final two weekends visting Auburn and Syracuse but yet he is upset that UT is recruiting Bryce Brown. When Oku committed to UT, he was the 4th back in the class. But after decommittments from Dominick Allen, Jarvis Giles, and now Oku, UT has only signed one RB in the 2009 class. Not only should he not be surprised that UT desires a second RB in the 2009 class, he has absolutely no room to talk. The offer is sitting on the table, but no one knows what his deal is or where he will sign. I would love to have Oku considering I fell in love with his highlight videos almost a year ago. But at this point, I nor most VOLS fans give a crap where he goes. Auburn runs a spread offense which he publicly said he would not play in if UT hired a spread coach. Not only that, Auburn signed 3 RBs on NSD. And Syracuse, please. Take one look at Syracuse's class and you will see what I am talking about. As long as we get one of the other, I don't care. Either way, it appears it will be a headache.

People, whats going on here? Am I the only one far enough away to smell our own shit????????Look there is a reason that most of us have had this thought.........
Final note, I don't remember hearing some of these names. This staff must be doing a lot more work than we realize (or at least than I realized). Kudos to them for a big weekend.
Recently we have been surprised by names, and not just one or two, but a preety decent list at first glance. Its called shock and awe, we practiced it in the Marine Corps, Cops use this tenchique often. Now it seems as though Syracuse Football is using this as well, lets all just hope they do it on the feild too. Overwhelm us with decent news qucikly called great news, then move on with the hopes of better news.... A.K.A. David Oku or that big o-lineman possible transfer. By doing that, we forget to examine who we just got.
It really is ingenius, slow period of no news for a few weeks, then BOOM. They hit us with an Ace Hardware commercial, WTF?......... A Madden "boom" always distracts me sorry. Meanwhile, back at the ranch....they hit us with sensory overload.
Now everyone take three steps back, a deep breath
1) If I said last year, we won a recruit who was chosing between App St and Middle Tenn St., would we have been happy with that?
2) What if I told you this last year, Peterson said he picked the Orange over offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Cincinnati, Akron, Bowling Green and Ohio University. Now consider Michigan was 3-8 and Wisconsin under-performed all year.
3) How bout if we traded, our head coach for Michgan D Coordinator, who just coached gifted players to a 3-8 record and one of the 20 worst defenses in college football, and probably the worst ever to wear the Maize and Blue.
4) Our new offensive coordinator, lead an offense picked to win the happless ACC last year. Coordinated them straight to the unemployment office, remeber Clemson was a preseaon top 10 team and finished strong after Mr. spence got fired.
5) All these Tennessee transplants, with the weather advantage and tradition, the huge stadium; if they couldnt recruit players to that place how they gonna do it here?
6) Now what if we were told that our savior, our brand new qb hand picked by our new head coach, what if he was the 165 rated player in the country?Of course not overall rating , just the 156th best high school senior qb as rated by Scout.com.
7) Again the fourth of our quad-coup this weekend has offers from only Central Mich, Western Mich and Colorado St. From the Dept. of Redundacy Dept., are these really the caliber recruits that will turn Cuse around?
8) Dougie Pooh, you all are pretty intelligent, with only a few exceptions on this site. Im not gonna rehash him and his lack of play calling expirience as an offensive........ almost did it, not gonna do it.
I'll take the time to say, the fact that Loeb is ridiculously good looking is a plus. When you consider that NFL teams facially profile the qbs coming out of college, because for some strange reason good looking people make better qbs. And this 6-4 D End out of Georgia looks decent and Oku chooosing us might just sell even me on this staff. Just remember, Antione Pierce and last years Mike Williams.
Come to mention it, our enthusiasm should be centered, squarley on Mike Williams and Arthur Jones. Dougie Pooh lucked out having cornerstones like these 2 studs
They say " the hottest fire makes the strongest steel" dont forget, "if you leave that steel in the fire for too long, it will melt and smother the flames" Numbers 1-8 all reasons to not invest your life savings into a potentially crashing stock market.
Understand I love SU, my family hates me when they lose. I want them to win. But come on people, reality is calling, we could be looking at G-rob part 2. Central NY is a much nicer place to live when we win. Come on guys i cant be the only rational person here, let me know.
COULD USE SOME HELP HERE
So inspired by a recent post to a post. I got a little curious, I too wondered hmmmm, Troy Nunes. What is the inspiration for the best Syracuse Sports Blog doing these days. So I googled him, thats what you do right????? Guess not in this case, after sifting through 12-15 pages of TNIAAM post, i figured ok. I will refine my search criteria, I googled Troy Nunes Wikipedia and much to my dismay i found another 20-25 pages of useless TNIAAM posts........................... well not entirely useless i did find a post in which i learned.......
i'll rush the court right now..i dont give a shit..
funnest part about going to a game is the chance that u might get to RUN ONTO THE COURT and go bizzerk
so thanks orngfan for the fine words of wisdom................
but really what is Troy Nunes doing this days????????????????
OK ALREADY
Not even 24 hrs after the loss and it is already sickening to hear all these people complain about that kickoff. News flash the refs got it right, maybe their explanation was wrong, but the end result of that play was right. There was 1 real good replay, which btw we only got see 1 time, imagine that. Anyway while the philly player(forgive me for not remebering his name) clearly had his foot on the sideline, the ball bounced up and back(sounds like the spitter episode of sienfeld, back and to the right). Again anyway, bounced up and back hitting him on his hip, while his foot was still on the sideline.
If anyone wants to talk about bad officiating, look no farther than phillies 4th down play. Curtis got mugged.
And while im at it, Aikman should be ashamed. Could he have been anymore anti-philly, or maybe it was just anti-mcnabb. We get it Troy, you won a couple superbowls, but I got the impression he felt a little insecure comenting about a qb taking his team to 5 nfc championships in 8 years. I know, Troy is everyones darling he qbed americas team to some superbowls a few years ago. But make a list of the hall of famers on his teams, now do the same for McNabb, I dont blame him for felling insecure.
And with that said Philly needs to wake up, they have one of the best in the game playing for them. Playing on a very flawed team, philly fans want him out. They should take a lesson from our team, look what happened to us after he Syracuse, if memory serves me correctly, and it should its all recent. But Syracuse has steadily downward spiralled since he graduated. So I'll finish with this, if they let McNabb leave who wil be their qb................ rumor has micheal vick may be available...........good luck with that
