Maurice-carthon-150-sm

I ran into Maurice Carthon tonight and he was not nearly as forthcoming with information...

This is more like TMZ/non-news than anything else, but Maurice and I talk a little bit tonight. I didn't talk too much 'shop' as he was on his way out of town and didn't want to talk about work more than I.

I asked him about living in KC and his response:

"I've been meaning to bring my stuff up [from Arizona]....maybe this year."

It's funny when you see a Chief, everybody knows. We had some people in shop today and when Maurice entered, there was a hush and a few 'it's Maurice' remarks.

I asked him about this year:

"Things are good...things could always be better."

From the limited time I talked with him he's a no-nonsense type of guy. And a stout dude; I'm 6'3" and 220 and I don't consider myself a 'creampuff' but Maurice definately stood head and shoulders everybody else: body wise, personality, and demeanor. When he comes back, I hope to ask him about Dexter and TJ. Things were kind of crazy so didn't exactly get to ask the question I wanted to as I did with Dantrell.

You can definately see a big difference from this staff and Herm's staff. Coach Joe D'Alessandris and Thomas Gafford (long snapper) and Turk McBride (I have a story or two about that guy :) haha) were waaay more open. These guys know their place and know something big is on the horizon. Herm's staff and crew had no problem talking about 'work' and things they were working on. The limited time I had with Maurice gave me a completely different perspective. Hopefully when he gets back from Georgia I can ask him more.

Dantrellsavage1

Dantrell Savage was cut by our Chiefs. He is flying out to Buffalo for a try out with the Bills. He cites Chan Gailey and Joe D’Alessandris as reason why: familiarity. Chan was KC's OC for 2008 and a portion of the 2009 season. D'Alessandris was an assistant from 2007 - 2010; he is now the offensive line coach for the Bills. Dantrell was used sparingly during the 2009-2010 season. He will retain his home in the Kansas City area saying "It's a good town. My friends are here...I like the town, I like the team." He also confirmed reports that McCluster will be used almost exclusively as a slot receiver and sparingly as a running back.
It's a shame as Joe D’Alessandris and Dantrell Savage were solid guys. Polite, professional, and are dedicated to football. It hurts more to lose Savage as he talked solely of going to work and putting time in. He should've been part of the 'Right 53,' but with a crowded backfield, it's easy to see how he gets lost in the shuffle. I failed to ask his opinion on Dez Bryant during all this, but he nothing but great thing to say about the Chiefs the Cowboys.
Speaking about OSU hurt, I let him know I'm a Mizzou fan. I doubt he'll be unemployed for long, he's a hard worker, has a winner's attitude and takes a no nonsense approach.

It's weird to talk to Chiefs players about 'work,' as our view of work is completely skewed from their's.
