I have got to bring up <strike>Brett Favre</strike> "he who must not be named", and give everyone my professional opinion on the matter.

I personally feel the aquisition of "He who must not be Named" will only prove to be a distraction all season. The Vikings may not get the media attention that some other NFL teams get, but you know i kinda like it that way. We don't have as many distractions with little media attention. Bringing in "he who must not be named" will only cause a media frenzy at winter park and as you all know it has already caused quite the frenzy. I like being unnoticed that way we have only the pressure we put on ourselves and we can shock the world like the Cardinals did last season.

Secondly after sizing up our current qbs and the way "he who must not he named" has played the last 5 seasons i believe the only fair thing to do for this team if "he who must not be named" is brought in is to throw him into the open qb competition. Handing him the starting job will not look good for the coach given his average at best numbers the last few seasons especially since TJack showed great improvement at the end of last season and Sage has proven that he can be a pretty good qb, even if he is a bit like "he who must not be named." Sage will but everything on the line to win, and thats when turnovers happen, which is his biggest knock coming to the vikings. Favre has played the same way the later part of his career and shown that he can be the games biggest chokeartist in the clutch. Why do we need two gunslingers with turnovers, we don't. thats why if "he who must not be named" is signed he should have to compete for the right to start for our talented team.

Thirdly, the fact that Green Bay let him go signalled that he was no longer the best qb on their roster. an after watching rodgers last year i have to say that rodgers was the better qb on their roster. The fact that the team who invested so much in "he who must not be named" was willing to let the face of the franchise go should serve as a warning. With "he who must not be named" the vikings would be getting damaged goods from the looks of it and damaged goods are often of no use.

Once again I'M SORRY but i had to give my take.

PS: My favorite to win the starting is TARVARIS JACKSON!!!

Don't blast me for the title please I know it's part of Peter King's Monday Morning QB, one of my favorite segments, so that's why I named it that.

1. Tavaris Jackson will win the starting qb job at the end of training camp. Sage Rosenfels will push him and it will be a close battle but TJack has an edge with his athleticism.

2. Tyrell Johnson is the starting safety opposite of Madieu Williams next season, not Colt Anderson and not Jamarca Sanford. We drafted Johnson with our only first day pick last year and he played pretty well in the absence of Williams at the beginning of last season. Cedric Griffin will never be moved to safety.

3.Adrian Peterson will not rush for 2000 yards. I know he wants to, but if the coaches are smart they will run him into the ground nor will they let him run himself into the ground,

4.Our defense will be healthy all season and our pass defense will rank amongst the top 15 and our total defense amongst the top 5. We have the ability to accomplish this, you know this.

5. Cedric Griffin will build upon last season and continue to improve. He will make defenders pay for throwing his way next year.

6. Sidney Rice will breakout this year. He will lead the team in TD receptions and has a good chance to lead the team in total receptions. I like him and want him to succeed. Barring injury this is generally the year WR come into their own in the NFL.

7. Jay Cutler will suffer a season ending knee injury caused by repeated annihilation by Jared Allen.

8. Lions will win six games, none against the vikings or packers but one on the bears.

9. Percy Harvin will wreak havoc on opposing defenses. I firmly believe that Chilly and Crew have a plan for this unique player. Why draft the guy without having such a plan, it's stupid logic.

10.Vikings will ranked first in rushing offense and among the top 20 in passing offense with the addition of Phil Loadholt. Our qb will bring consistancy this year and provide a viable passing attack. I believe.

11. Vikings win the divison and finish with a record better then 10-6. It's ours to lose and we have arguably the most talented team in the division.

Draft Day Dilemma

Now that the whole Jay Cutler debauchle is over we as vikings fans can focus on whats to come and as i dont see the vikings making anymore possible free agent moves untlil after the draft, the draft will be the next major event for our beloved purple and gold.

The vikings currently hold the 22 overall pick in this years draft and as ive read around a lot of people seem to think we are going to draft a wr at that spot. I dont think this is a wise move for our management as wr especially late 1st rounders are usually a crapshoot when it comes to drafting. I see some possibilities that could be more beneficial to this team in the the long run.

1 Trade down in the draft- we could trade down in the draft and possibly pick up a later first round or early second round pick along with another pick or two. This would lessen the amount of capspace used on a high pick and if we got an early second pick our the type of talent in the pool is still very similar to the type talent in the pool late in the first round.

2 Trade the pick for a proven veteran- i.e. Anquan Boldin if the cardinals are willing to part ways for a first and third( next season).

3. Trade up in the draft- in mayocks most recent draft he has Micheal Crabtree falling out of the top ten and if he gets past the niners at ten he could potentially fall all the way to the jets at 17( and i dont see the jets landing him with qb issues to address) and then the only other two receiver needy teams ahead of us are the bucs at 19 and the eagles at 21 i believe we have enough ammunition to jump in front of those two teams and steal the best player in the this years draft.

of those three possibilities i favor the third one the most as it would give us a immediate playmaker on offense and i dont see the cardinals trading boldin, and trading down would be fine if we cant get a player like crabtree.

Jeff George

With all the controversy surrounding our qb situation year in and year out since brad childress arrived why not throw someone else in the mix.

As reported on the Star Tribune website Jeff George wants another shot to be the vikings qb. He thinks he would be a perfect fit for our system and even went as far as to say if he were our qb we would have won the superbowl already. Now we all have fond memories of George from the 99 season after he took over for Randall Cunningham, and i went and looked back on this and was suprised by what i found. having prolly his most productive season of the year with our vikings, management chose not to resign him at the end of the season. This kind of bewilders me considering he had a great season but whats done is done.

George, now 41, now has asked Brad "Genius" Childress once already for a shot at a roster spot and been turned down. but does that surprise any of you? George says he wouldn't cost a thing and would gladly be a second or third string insurance policy he just wants to play again. And i like that in the guy. Hes definitely got a passion for the game. With the qb situation the way its been the last few years i willing to try anyone and i would rather try someone whos had some success (George) with our team than someone who moves like a sloth and hasn't had any success with any team let alone the vikings (Holcomb, Bollinger, Frerotte, McMahon, Brad Johnson*). My point is why not bring in George for the minimum for training camp and this offseason let him workout with our 3 other second and third string qbs and see if he can earn a roster spot, he is confident and feels he can have the same success that kurt warner and brett favre had last year. so i say bring him in for the minimum let him compete and if he doesn't workout you aren't out much and he can be a mentor of sorts to the other qbs during his stay. And theres no way he can be as statuesc as Frerotte in the pocket, we might as have put lady liberty under center.

*denotes that Johnson had "some" success outside of minnesota, won a superbowl with a scary defense, but in all reality was barely better than a trent dilfer and was always injured when he played for minnesota, and a crybaby during his most recent stint and stunk it up in dallas this last year.

and my proposed offseason plan for a qb competition is to put each of our qbs in for a quarter every game and then rotate quarters weekly so as not to skew stats when on qb plays only against backups and the other only plays against starters.

so what do you guys think , a please refrain from mentioning Jay Cutler i am sick of reading about this attention w***e, and it is out of the realm of possibility to even pry him away we tried and backed off, and the more i think about it the less i like him as a prospect, and this is coming from a guy who was all for getting Jay at one point in time, i'm sorry i just wen on a rant about the very thing i didn't want mention

So i was browsing the web and i came across two reports that involve two very good players from the Rams

Apparently the rams are trying to trade Orlando Pace their big offensive tackle. As i've read on this sight and many others the majority of the population believe the vikings need to add another good OT to the line. I know pace has dealed with injuries the past few seasons but he was an elite player and still could be very good.

The other player i'm kinda intrigued by is Torry Holt. Torry has requested his release and the Rams i would guess are trying to trade him before his roster bonus is due next week. Torry Holt is one of the best recievers of all time and i believe in Minnesota he could be quality leader and mentor to our young receiving and hes younger than TO and only a year older than Houshbag would have been.

If i were our beloved purple i would look into these players. I think a second round pick for both players could suffice given the age of the players and then we would have to restructure their contracts. I know they dont have a lot of upsided but they could provide valuable leadership and experience in the locker room. What do you guys think.

so does anyone know how to get ahold of Zygi Wilf. Becaus i would like him to pay close attention to the pittsburgh game and their head coach and remember where he came from. i completely agree with wyohonky on that its not just talent that makes a team good but a good head coach, which Chili is not. i see lots of better candidates on the market for our vikings to be head coach and i wonder why chilidress is still here. do you think a petition to fire him would workk

Looking Ahead

So i was looking over our options this coming offseason to fix our biggest weakness, our qb. Here are the six options i think we have this offseason.

Option 1-we beg gus frerotte not to retire and give us another season of mediocrity while management tries to figure out what to do with the present qb situation, we've been down this road before with BJ and we all know how that turned out.

Option 2- we turn the reins over to Tavaris Jackson again and see if he matured with the one year off tutelage under Gus. Im not totally against this but i will need to see some major improvement to be sold on tjack as our franchise qb. at best i think he is backup material.

Option 3- JD Booty, yes he looked terrible in the preseason but i can see him making major strides come next season, but that doesn't mean he'll be a franchise qb, i like his upside but its just too early to know, my least favorite option

Option 4-You all know that Derek Anderson was bench for Brady Quinn earlier this season, and i see it staying that way in Cleveland as they invested a first round pick in Quinn a year ago, so that could me that Anderson will be available to the highest bidder come this offseason, and if that's the case i would like to see him in purple and gold.

Option 5- Matt Cassel, he's looked good for the Pats and he's mobile. I don't think the patriots will be able to resign him at the end of the season so i could see minnesota bringing him in, but im not completely sold on how good he is, his supporting cast in NE is much better than the supporting cast Minnesota could give him.

0ption 6- Minnesota historically hasn't drafted many QBs and i wouldn't expect them to change that this year. But if they were to take a qb in the draft Tim Tebow or Chase Daniels would be my picks, Daniels is the most pro ready qb in the draft this year and Tebow is quite the playmaker and is turning into a really good qb in florida.

 <fieldset class="poll-box">
 <legend>Poll</legend>

What do you think the Vikings should do this next offseason?

Honestly, i cant think of any one other frachise in the nfl that has caused their fans so much heartache as our very own vikings, except for maybe the raiders. after all these years you would have thought we would have learned how to take a nfl caliber qb in the draft and how to turn around the franchise. for god sakes the effing falcons are one game better than us. and this whole chili bs is really get on my nerves, first he releases a pro bowl qb, and by no means am i saying we would be better of with Daunte Culpepper, then he drafts this raw qb in the 2nd round of the draft, tarvaris jackson, who i want to have faith in and believe in just for his sake and the franchises sake. The guy though brought in to mentor this raw talent is non other than the notoriously selfish BJ, who also filled for Daunte, and he is absolutely terrible, piss poor, way passed his prime. He succeeds in teaching TJ nothing and hes still as raw as ever entering 2007, he cant stay healthy all season long, so his growth is yet still stunted. NOW we bring is this 37 yr old career backup who a lot pessimistic viking fans are calling the second coming of christ in purple. Im here to tell you all right now Gus Frerotte wont be the reason the vikings turn this season around, he has a losing record and has completed a lower percent of his passes over his career than TJ. I dont care what your opinion of him is, its wrong and you all know it. Now lets go over some other qb this professional qb trainer Brad Chilidress has brought in some McMahon from phili, he sucked, Kelly Holcomb, he legally changed his first name to Kelly becaus he thought it sound more manly what a joke and he sucked, and Last but not least Brooks Bollinger, and he sucked. Wow so that makes Chili, the supposed QB guru, oh for 4 and possibly 5 if JDB dont turn out.

I know that sounded awfully pessimistic, cuz it was. But i needed to vent my frustrations and i honestly hope for the best this season for Minnesota, but if Chilidress and Bevell dont become more creative with their playcalling, which is what will save the Vikings season, we are only going to see more of the same all season long. With that i would like to wish purple jesus and his disciples good luck this sunday against the panthers. Skol Vikings

I dont understand why so many people are hating on T-Jack yes he may not be great but it has a solid winning record, and had it not been for more than a few dropped TDs the vikings could have been 10-6 or better last season. One particular example that comes to mind is the drop that T-Will had during the denver game, and although T-Jack didnt play the KC game if Shiancoe would have caught that pass thats another win. Theres 10-6 if we would have won those two games. Not to mention we should have beaten the Lions the first time and the redskins also. So there is 12-4 for last season if we would have played all four quarters of every game. And people are saying we wont do better than 8-8 next i personally believe 12-4 is possible with the upgrades we made this offseason and sweep of the division is going to happen.
