LIVE MOCK DRAFT SIGN UP! ...6 teams left... Draft date TBD.
Please pick up to 3 to 4 teams that you would like to pick for, except the Bengals. We will do a group vote for the Bengals. First come, first serve when it comes to picking your teams for the live mock draft.
When selecting your teams, please submit your picks below on a reply comment.
Im hoping to start the draft by this afternoon, I know we should have enough for everyone to pick three teams. Each pick will have up to 10 minutes to submit their pick. Im hoping to complete the first two rounds or at least just the first round in this live mock.
Once we get enough to start the live mock, I will give instruction on how we will start the draft.
Time to pick teams! ..... Live Super Bowl Mock
Attention all CJ Members,
I invite you to participate in a mock draft the day before the super bowl. Saturday, February 4, 2012, I would like to have another mock draft. Depending on how many people want to participate, we can assign a specific team(s) to you. Or we can just have a group mock, where we "rec" the player we think that best fits the selected team.
If you are interested or have ideas, please feel free to comment below and let me know what you think.
I’m wanting to get a least 10 people to participate and that way each person will have 3-4 teams to pick for. I will assign teams accordingly.
The time and date can be changed; I was just throwing something out there.
Thanks for your time!
what the faulk? To pead or not to pead. That is the question!
There has been a lot of talk about which RB we should take in the first, second, and third round. In my best case scenario we can address the DB and OL positions in the first. Which would leave us with the best value in the second with Pead.
I could be wrong here. But why do I feel like there are a lot similarities between Isaiah Pead and Marshal Faulk. Just watch the way Pead runs and cuts. Then compare it to Faulk. I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Please check it out your self. I have listed two highlight videos to show you what Im talking about.
Pead has the hands and vision to make him a perfect fit in the WCO. Also, Pead is not just a north and south runner, but he has the patients and lateral movement to excel in the league.
I think if you add 10 to 15 pounds of muscle to Peads lower body and few more pounds to his upper body. Pead would have a very similar build to Marshall when he was in the NFL.

My Trip to Houston: Playoff game analysis
WHY?
I'm sure many Bengals fans are wondering that same question. Its a simple word, that can be tied to many, many questions. But why can't we make a run to through the playoffs? Why do we always seem to waste are challenges in crucial moments? Why do the refs continue flag Nelson on legal hits? ETC. ETC. ETC.....
Its about 4am in Houston right now and I can't get to sleep. Partly because my ears are still ringing from the crowed noise and I keep asking my self why. I figured I would shed some light on my experience at Reliant Stadium and try to clear my mind out because Cincy Jungle is my release therapy.
Home Field Advantage makes a differnece.
First off, Houstons fans made the difference in this game. There is no doubt in my mind about that. For the 100 Bengals fans that went to the game, they would say the same thing. It was evident from the time I got at the stadium, it was going to be a long day for me no matter what. I got heckled every step I took from the car to my seat and it didn't help I had to wear my Chad Johnson jersey from a few years back. In the back of my mind, I didn't care because I knew we could win this game and afterwards there would be way more embarressed Texans fans than Bengals fans.
Boy was I wrong. The stadium was filled 99.9% with Texans fans and they didn't let up on making noise. They caused a false start in the first half to help stall a drive, caused a penalty for 12 players in the huddle and we had to burn a time out early in the second half. Plus, the bengals had to use a silent counts or snap the ball right before the play clock expired on every play. Which made it easier for the defense to get a jump on the offensive line. Just about every big play or penalty was sparked by the crowd.
Going through this was an eye opening expierence because home field advantage does mean something. And it can determine an outcome of game. Its something we as fans need to embrace because the players do feed off it. Every great team is backed by a great fan base.
This game was definately a growing pain for Andy. There were few things I noticed. Andy seems to know where he is going before the snap of the ball. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. For example, Jerome's first catch was for 8 yrds, but Gresham had the LB beat down the middle which could have gone for a big gain. And there were a few plays where he locked himself on one side of the field and neglected the middle of the field where gresham and simpson were open a few times. Im sure the pass rush and noise had something to do with it, but I expect better out of him.
Also, he wasn't that accurate on his deep throws and we could of made some plays if the ball was where it was suppose to be. Andy made some throws out of desperation, instead of anticipation. And I'm starting to worrie about his passes getting batted down. It seems like the last couple of games and including this one, Andy's passes have been getting batted down more than average.Overall, Andy had a bad day, But I believe in this guy and I think he will learn from this and become a better player.
If there ever was a doubt in your mind about this kid, I hope this game proved you wrong. Simpson was one of the bright spots in this game and I hope the front office resigns him. He had several big catches and great blocks. I think he may have missed a few passes, but one was thrown out of bounds and the other one was contested by the CB.
Another thing that no body talks about with Jerome. He wants to be a leader and he wants to be here. Outside athletic ability, those are important qualities you want in a player. I noticed in pre-game warm ups, Jerome was the WR that was first in every drill. Also, when the whole team came out to stretch, Simpson was one of the players greeting everyone as they came out. And that means something for those who played football, knows what I'm talking about.
As much as I like his leadership and mentality, he just isn't what we need anymore. Or as a starter at least. I'm tired of seeing this guy missing tackles, getting beat deep or getting his ankles broke. Usually, his tackling is pretty solid when he can get a hold of someone, but that last Foster TD was horrible. Crocker just got manhandled. And when he had a chance to get an INT he dropped it. He isn't the play maker we need out of a SS. After this game, I think our need for SS is pretty high. I wouldn't be surprised if we draft one in the first round.
What a year!
Before everyone jumps over the edge and becomes debbie downer. We had a good year. We really did. It sucks we didnt keep it going but we have a lot to build off of and look forward to. The sky is the limit. We truely are close to becoming a championship quality team. Im tired of people blaming this and that. Calling for peoples heads, some of that stuff is so irrational and ignorant. We got beat and you know what, when its all said in done, 31 other teams will fall short too. There can only be one champion.
The NFL is about technique, doing your job, keeping mistakes to a minimal, and execution. If they didn't call that personal foul on Nelson, we made that field goal, and Watt didn't get that pick 6, this game could have easily went the other way big time. The Houston fans did a great job of creating home field ADVANTAGE. Hopefully, next year, we will have the same opportunity and make the most of it!

Fantasy Football league: $20 entry fee, winner takes all
I wanna get a 10 team fantasy league going with $20 entry fee, winner takes all. Please let me know if you will be interested, as I know a few people want to start a league from the monday night open thread. The first 9 people to respond will be in the league, providing they will be able to use pay pal for this league.
Also, this will be a keeper league and will hopefully go on for years to come.
The rules and website will be determined after all members have signed up and we agreed to the website we want to use and the type of league we want to create.

Calling out all CJ members: I think its time! WDR (WHO DEYTA RATING)
There has been much debate about certain players on this team. I think its time we settle this once and for all. And I would like to get input from as many people on here as possible.
I would like to create our measuring system on how we judge bengals players. I know it will take time, but I would be willing to take the grunt of the work. Much like ESPN has the Total QBR, well I think its time we create a measuring tool for only bengals players or players we want measure to see if they would be a good fit for our team.
I want to take account for tangible and non-tangle aspects. If you wouldn't mind taking a minute or to let me know what you think is important to measure for a position. I would love to hear it! And once we develop a sound measuring system, I will post it for all to see, so it will be transparent on how players are being measured.
I believe we have fine group of people on this board with great points of view. So as I get my credit card out and ready to purchase NFL rewind. Please take a moment to respond.
WHYUS!!
If I missed your name, I'm truly sorry, I just noticed some of these names more often on these boards and know they have a lot of good ideas. But again, I want to hear from everyone that has an idea.
And first line of business, we need a cool name for this measurement. Something that is relative to Cincyjungle.
Thanks!

Winner will be annouced: "Around the Jungle" game
I thought I should try something new on here and I want to play a game. Something you would see on ESPN or any sports show, a sports debate forum with topics. I will ask a question, up to ten, and the first 5 people to respond with their answers will get points based on their points that they made. Feel free to add points to anyone's comments if you think someone deserves it (be reasonable). The person who scores the most points will get a prize! ( as soon as I think of one)
I would like the winner to be able to post something on the main page, like a quick fan shot on the topic they would like to talk about, sort of like "around the horn". Please Josh make it happen, I think this game could be a lot of fun!

Should Brown be the number #1 WR?
I just wanted to get some of your opinions about Brown. I know Wallace will always be a deep threat, but I have noticed Brown has been coming up big this year in a lot of your games. And may be a better number one option for Ben. I was also surprised to see him returning punts, but I would imagine as his role expands within the offense, he will return less.
And I'm pretty sure this is Hines Ward last year.
Mapquest: Bengals -> Playoffs
I think the general conclusion would be 10 wins gets you in. So at this point right now, we would need games to go a certain way to guarantee a Bengals playoff spot. I have also added a poll to show most people think 10 wins will get you in.
The Dalton Cool Aid
Before I go into this, don't get me wrong, I like Dalton. I think he has a great future ahead of him and I hope he can bring the championship to Cincy! Im only bringing this to light because he should be held to a high standard because he has the ability to be great.

The Blame Game
Everyone please take it easy. I know its easy after a tough loss to point fingers, but the fact remains, there are 7 games left and we need to go at least 4-3 to make the playoffs.
I understand the loss against the steelers was tough, especially when you know we could have won the game. But look at it this way. If we beat Baltimore next week, we will be back in first place of the division. We will have the advantage over the steelers because our division record will be 2-1 and the steelers will be 1-1 still. The road to the playoffs is still in our control!
I think the most impressive part in the game against the steelers, we had 5 sacks with our best D lineman. I know Carlos is licking his chops to knock out Big Ben. Lets take this season one game at a time, we were bound to loss at some point. Now its more about learning from mistakes and showing everyone we can bounce back! This loss will aslo pay dividends later in the year, maybe in the playoffs, because we will have the experience of being down multiple TDsagainst a playoff caliber team. And we will know what it takes to overcome the mistakes and finish the game winning/ tying drive.
I know AJ hasn't been shown on the injury report, but I expect him to miss the next couple of games until we get the steelers again. So i want him to be well rested and have him the rest of the season.
The new Jerome Simpson....
I was looking at the bengals roster today and realized how much depth they had until I got to saftey.
NFL PLAYOFF PREDICTOR
Here are the teams ESPN predicted to make the playoffs.
From the AFC:
1.New England with over 90 percent chance to make the playoffs
2. Baltimore with over 85 percent chance to make the playoffs.
3.Houston with over 72 percent chance to make the playoffs.
4.San Diego with over 55 percent chance to make the playoffs.
5.Buffalo with over 62 percent chance to make the playoffs.
De Ja Vu?! No strip club.
With the Bengals sitting at 4-2,their second in the division. And after next week, there is a good chance Bengals could be sitting in first place. I was thinking this all seems familiar, like I know whats going to happen the next 10 games. Then it hit me, this season is shaping out to be just like 2009. At this time in 2009, the Bengals were 4-2 as well and on their way to sweeping the whole division.
So here is my predictions for the next 10 games:
@ Seattle W - This will be a statement game for the Bengals.
@Tennessee L - I have a feeling that Rey may not be back this game and Johnson finally breaks loose. Trap game.
Pittsburgh W- I expect a lot of turnovers and it will come down to the last drive.
@Baltimore W- The Bengals will control the control the clock with an effective run game.
Cleveland W- Dalton and Mccoy will have 5 TDs combine.
@Pittsburgh W- Big Ben gets hurt, Bengals win by two scores.
Houston L- Bengals will be beat up, rest key starters.
@St. Louis L- Another recovery week, should see a lot of Taylor Mays.
Arizona L- Close game, but will lose by a field goal.
Baltimore W- The Bengals win big and gain momentum into the playoffs.
Finishing off the season at 10-6 with a home playoff game against the Steelers.
Pretty sure most of that wont happen, but I just have a feeling. However, I think the Bengals have a good shot at getting to 10-6 to win the division or 9-7 enough to get a wild card.
And if you have a better prediction, I would like to see it!
Defense, Defense, Defense..... wins championships!!!
The NFL draft has become more and more of a media spectacle. Every year the draft becomes more dramatic and entertaining than the last. ESPN does a great job of making the draft more than what it is. Each team has a particular way of scouting players and stick to it each year. Please keep this in mind, when it comes to the 2011 NFL draft, our biggest need is on defense.
My Defense (pun intended) in my conclusion:
Much of the attention has gone to the QB or WR position, but in reality these position will benefit the Bengals the most when drafting in the first round:
1. Patrick Peterson CB/FS: If we can’t sign Joseph back then will have a solid CB for the future. If we do sign Joseph back, we will have a solid FS for the future. Seems to me, a win/ win situation. This guy is gifted and would be a significant difference maker as DB. He has speed and size. Something that we need in AFC north to match up against TEs and bigger WRs.
2. Marcell Dareus DT: Point blank, we need a disruptive defensive tackle to put pressure on the QB and RB. And will free up our young DEs.
3. Nick Fairley: See above. Also, he is somewhat of a “dirty player” and the Bengals may benefit from that in the AFC North.
4. Von Miller LB: If none of the above are available, we should get the best value at the number four spot if we don’t trade down. Von Miller will simply make our LB group young and elite.
The speculation of drafting a QB in the first round is ridiculous. There are several different reasons why it won’t happen. If Carson Plamer is truly serious about retiring, if he is not traded, drafting a QB in the first round will give him the advantage. Guaranteeing millions of dollars to another QB will only make it easier for Carson to leave because Carson simply has to show up to camp and the team will have bigger problems than they do now. When there is a QB controversy it adds more pressure to the head coach on who to start and the team may get divided. This will make Carson trade value go down and may even allow him to get cut. Also, there will be too much money going towards one position, something I don't see Mike Brown allowing. The logically scenario, take the best available QB in the second round. Pick up the best available veteran QB in free agency and let them battle it out to start the season. And if Carson insists on not coming back to Cincy, trade him to a team that will guarantee a highest draft pick the Bengals can get. This may give the Bengals another chance to get a franchise QB in Andrew Luck. Luck would be worth the pick and money. One thing to always keep in mind, “who runs the show”. That would be Mr. Grinch, AKA Mike Brown. Brown will not allow the player to demand something and get it. So, he will carefully think out a way he wins. Right now, owners have way more power than players.
AJ Green wouldn’t be the worst pick and would probably work out. But in my opinion, the Bengals defense has the bigger needs in certain areas and I think would make more sense to address them first. If somehow we get Carson back and the Bengals felt like they needed a WR. There are quite of few veteran WR to choose that have the capability of AJ Green. Cough, cough, Plaxico Burress, wink, wink. Please remember, “Defense wins championships! “
P.S. Bengals fan for life!
The glass is half full! The season just begun!!!!
First of all, I would like to point out, we are 2-1 and have a lot to look forward too! The bengals could be the first team in NFL history to sweep their division two years in a row. This bengals team could make the playoffs back to back season for the first time in 2 decades. And we play the browns this week!
I can not think of a better time to play the browns. Even though this game should be a lock but our history against the in state foe has hardly been one. Our games against the browns tend to be high scoring. This is the perfect time to wake up the sleeping giant (offense).
Much of the NFL is about momentum, team chemistry and staying healthily. I know everybody wants theBengalsto be 3-0 and beating every team by 30 points, but the fact of the matter is, we are not that team right now. The beginning of the season is more about staying in contention and the last 6 games tend to be the most important of the season. I say this because in the last 6 games of the season is when a team would like to gain momentum heading into the playoffs, while staying healthily.
I just have a great feeling about this team, even tho they are not playing up to their full potential right now. The season is still early and the perception of NFL teams change WEEKLY! The most important thing right now is to stay incontention and having something to play for. This will be the year, I just have that feeling!
Vick?!
I have seen reports saying that we are interested in signing Vick. This seemed like a suprise to me because with the Bengals history, it would seem like like a mistake waiting to happen. But on the flip side, after thinking about it, it wouldn't be bad move at all. If he was really interested in signing with the Bengals, we could get him for really cheap! And if Carson ever got hurt, we would have a back up that we know we can win with! To me that is the most important thing. If we sign him with a two year contract and he does good as special teamer and maybe some at tailback, we could trade him for a draft pick!
Broncos vs. Bengals
This is how I see the first national headlines after the Bengals game against the Broncos.
ORTON, Why?
After giving up three interceptions, Kyle Orton is asking himself what happened? Coming out of his best season last year, no one could have predicted this type of game from him. The first drive was their best, which resulted in a 32 yrd. Pratter field goal. But after that, it was all down hill. It seemed like Orton's play led the Broncos to there first loss of the season. Orton made many bad decisions and was very indecsive with all of his passes. The only highlight from this game was Marshall catch over two Bengals defenders for 25 yrds. This could be a long year for the Broncos if they keep giving up 27 points to teams like the Bengals!
Broncos 6 Bengals 27
Key Players
Broncos Bengals
Orton - 17/28 215 yrds, 3 int Palmer- 22/30 330 yrds, 2 TD's
Moreno- 15 rush 50 yrds, 3 rec 17 yrds Benson- 25 rush 107 yrds
Marshall- 8 rec 89 yrds Ochocinco- 5 rec 85 yrds, TD
Pratter-2/2 FG (32,35) Coles- 8 rec 75yrds
Henry- 3 rec 50yrds, TD
Graham- 2/2 FG (25,33)
Defense Broncos Defense Bengals
1 fumble rec, 3 sacks 3 sacks, 3 int, 1 fumble recovery
I think its going to be funny because I know if the bengals were to win like this, the first thing the analysist will say...."It was Orton's horrible play that led them to their loss".... I think the Bengals defense will hardly even get noticed because of last year. And by the end of the year all the analysist will be on their bandwagon saying they knew that the Bengals had a great defense but they just had to prove them selfs!
Feel free to do week two! or fix up my prediction!
And this Pet Peeve goes to?!
Here are some of my biggest pet peeves! Feel free to add your own!
My biggest pet would be HInes Ward, I don't understand how this guy gets so open all the time. If it is 3rd down and less than 5 yards to go, u know its going to him. I know he may be the most physical WR in the nfl today but I would really enjoy someone laying him out (hint hint) and breaking his jaw (hint hint), so he can not have that stupid smile on his face for a couple of months. Matter of fact.... the whole team is one big a$$ pet peeve.
My next pet peeve goes to the New England Patriots offense. It may just be me, but doesn't anyone else notice that they do a screen about every other play? Its either to the RB or WR and no one seems to stop it. I know they may have some elite players on offense but most of welkers catches are short yardage and screens. To add one more thing, Tom Brady has one of the whiniest voices, but he sure does love his goat!
This is not that big of a pet peeve, but it still kind of annoys me. Why don't the bengals wear all black for every home game. I think it gives them that fierce look and it just looks better too!
And finally, my last pet peeve goes out to Paul Brown Stadium. Wtf is up with them green seats? i never really understood why the would make them green... I was thinking they could make them all oragne with some of them black. So when you get an over head view of the stadium it would look like the bengals stripes.
2009 Predictions!!!
I wanted to create a list of predictions, in which anyone can add to, that most bengals fans would not see coming!
I predict, the bengals will be known for their defense more than their offense. Im not saying that our offense is going to be bad or anthing, im just saying thats how good our defense will be. This defense reminds me a lot of our defense of 2005, where had the best turnover ratio in the league! We have a crazy linebacker in ray maualuga like odell, solid corners in hall and joseph like o'neal and james.... actually we have up graded in every single area on defense. This defense can tackle better than most of them starters back in 2005. I believe we added needed depth to our defensive line and safties! I think this defense will have a really special year.
oh yea... does anyone know about scott bernard? Hhe seems like he could really be something special and maybe a future starter in a few years.
