Tomahawk Nation A look at FSU's Potential 2012 Schedule (accounting for ACC schedules)

I'm starting to feel almost certain some are going to be pissed at about AT LEAST one section of the schedule. I don't know where it will be, but there will be a BRUTAL (by ACC standards) stretch at some point in the schedule.

Right now we have Sept 1, 8, 29 and Nov 24 marked off. Now let's say we get out of WVU, I have to imagine whoever replaces them goes to the same spot since for a while now that ACC must have been making the schedule with that in mind.

Someone mentioned that the NC State Fair is from October 11-21. To me, that means we are likely getting NC State on October 18th. And since the ACC has lately more likely than not given the weekend prior to the Thursday night games as a Bye, I'll assume we are off on October 13 for the purposes of this thought exercise. I have looked at all the other ACC teams Non-Conference schedules and done my best to guess at where each non-conf opponent who isn't already locked into a date might land based on the quality of said opponent. So this isn't perfect or even science, but you'll see my fear when the time comes.

Somehow we have a leg up on both programs and a recruiting edge, yet Miami and Golden are on the right track and UF is going to rule the state by 2013?

Interestingly enough FEI has us at 70% (its probably rounded up from 65%+) to beat Florida.

BC's blog discussing the opening line. So, thoughts? Too high? Too low? Initial predictions on our ability to beat said spread?

Tomahawk Nation Would there be any recourse...

for recruits that sign with FU on signing day only to find out days later than UM is stepping down as coach? This is mostly a question for people who have knowledge of the NCAA's policies regarding such things or their historic treatment of it. Also, for NoleLaw and FSUn and other lawyers or law students, as a law student the idea of a detrimental reliance claim and some basic contract principles come to mind, that you in essence can't make these guys a slave to their LOI (which is just essentially an employment at will contract as I understand it) and they have to be given some other option for a way to get out of their contract (granted it might be monetary damages that they would have to pay to FU, in which case I know that many recruits cannot afford to pay any sum to get out of such a deal)? Would they have any shot of getting out of their LOI, or have these things proven to be pretty iron-clad in the past?

Just a headline, wasn't sure where this is supposed to go.

Tomahawk Nation Realistically, next year's defense...

How good can they be? They are going to be a talented unit (based on recruiting grades, at least). Were we to run a standard 4-3 with what I imagine we have coming back next year, we'd be looking at 4 starters (Bradham, White, McDaniel, Reid) who were 5 * recruits coming out of high school, 6 who were 4 * recruits (Carr, Williams, Jenkins, McCray, Jenje, Moody) and 1 3 * recruit (Parks). I imagine the numbers would bare out similarly if we were to run some type of 3-4 Hybrid next year. (Yes I know that this lineup still leaves us somewhat small up front, think of me as banking on us adding substantial size in the offseason weightlifting program).

So my question is, with the proper position coaching and an updated scheme, how good can we be? Top Half in the country? Top quarter (I doubt)? I think there's no way we'd be elite so quickly, but how good do you think we can be how soon?

A guy like White has clearly been warped by not having a coach around (and not having Everette Brown here to teach him the position). Could a coach whose background DOESN'T lie on the offensive side of the ball teach him the correct technique for his position to, at the very least, make him serviceable?
