BOTC Men's Basketball Awards RESULTS
With the Big 12 Tournament beginning tonight, it's time to reveal the results from my informal Bring On The Cats Men's Basketball Awards.
The headline award is Player of the Year, and there is no surprise here. Junior Rodney McGruder wins unanimously with all 11 first-place votes for 33 points. McGruder leads the team in scoring and is second in rebounding. Senior Jamar Samuels was the only other vote-getter, receiving 2 second place votes for 2 points.
More awards after the break.
BOTC Men's Basketball Awards
With the regular season completed, I thought we might have a poll for basketball awards. Consider this unofficial until someone official says otherwise. Except where noted, categories are for K-State players only.
Scoring
Select a first-place choice in each category, and optionally a second choice. You do not have to select a second choice. First choices will be worth 3 points each. Second choices will receive 1 point each. Voting closes at noon Central Standard Time on Wednesday, March 7.
Award categories are after the jump.

Bowl game preferences
Assuming things go well from here, but K-State doesn't make a BCS bowl, what Big 12 bowl game would you prefer to see the Cats play in?
As a reminder, the order of selection after BCS bowls (according to Wikipedia) is:
1. Cotton Bowl (vs. SEC)
2. Alamo Bowl (vs. Pac-12)
3. Insight Bowl (vs. Big Ten)
4. Holiday Bowl (vs. Pac-12)
5. Texas Bowl (vs. Big Ten)
6. Pinstripe Bowl (vs. Big East)
Hate week. Hate week? Hate week!
From what I've seen today, this place is too sedate, too happy, and too friendly. Do you guys even know what week it is? Who we play Saturday? That's right. It's hate week. On Saturday, the football team goes into a wretched hive of scum and villainy for the game we all circled at the start of the year.
There's no time to think about Oklahoma or College GameDay at a time like this. Do you think Bill Snyder has said even a single word about OU to his team? He's getting them ready for Kansas, and we fans should be getting ready for Kansas. And although Snyder is too classy to make an effort to do it, we should all want to see the Cats knock the Chickenhawks down in the mud and rub their faces in it.
Now, let the hate commence.

Wildcats defeat Ramblers in Pullen's homecoming
K-State never trailed in the Wildcats' trip to Chicago, but the Ramblers kept the game close late. Jacob Pullen led the team in points and rebounds, but was he the player of the game?

The beard stays!
Jacob Pullen plans to keep the mighty beard for the 2010-11 campaign.
K-State MBB tops nation in attendance jump
K-State home attendance for men's basketball increased by 2,943 per game for the 2009-10 season, tops in the nation.
Surprisingly, number two on the list is K-State's favorite mid-major patsy. That's right, UAPB.
