Kenney expects payroll to "bump" up for 09

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1205705,CST-SPT-csep07.article

This makes me feel like we are going to spend big again, '06 style. I wouldn't say that much as '06, but I would say we'd see some pretty significant signings. Not gonna guess, but Wittenmeyer, Olney, and the guy from Desipio made a list.

Raul Ibanez, Bobby Abreu, David DeJesus, Milton Bradley, and Brian Roberts. They also add in Dunn and Huff at the end. Stay away from Huff...

Cubs to be players for C.C., Roberts

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/1204233,CST-SPT-deluca06.article

This would make me believe Demp would be gone. I'd rather have Furcal than Roberts.

If the Cubs were to go after him, then I would also venture to believe they are going to spend big again this off-season.

Discuss.

Al- We need to hear from you

I know I'm not the only one who feels as if their heart has been ripped out of them, or someone was taken out of their life. I will feel a little better if I hear what Al has to say.

This has to be the worst possible feeling I've had since '03. Everything just happened so fast, and we have to wait a whole year to have a shot again.

BTW, that Vedder song they played at the end of the Post Game show is when I broke down. It hurt real, real, bad....

NO matter what though, Cubs for life. We will be back. Hendry will not sit on this team.

International Signings

This may not be thread worty, but I wanted to get your guys' thoughts.

I was looking around on BA and noticed we only signed 2 guys during the International Signing Period. Other teams like the Royals were stacking up studs from the Dominican and Venezuela.

I just don't understand why we aren't getting in on any of the big time players from down there. I realize we signed the top pitcher 2 years ago, Larry Suarez from Venezuela, but I think we need to get a little more involved down there.

What are your thoughts on this?
