Is Cameron Auburn's New Offensive Coordinator?
With no contract extension on the table for Cam Cameron from Baltimore, could Cam be our next OC ?
From Wikipedia created by AU GRAD, the free encyclopedia:
"Malcolm "Cam" Cameron (born February 6, 1961) is an American football coach. He is currently the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. He was previously head coach of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League, offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, and head coach at Indiana University. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced Cameron as the new offensive coordinator on January 23, 2008.
Cameron spent the first ten years of his career at the University of Michigan, where he learned from long-time Wolverine coach Bo Schembechler. After two years as a graduate assistant, he became Michigan's youngest assistant and was responsible for tutoring quarterbacks and receivers (WRs 1986-1989, WRs/QBs 1990-1993).
He coached many future NFL players, including Jim Harbaugh, Elvis Grbac, Todd Collins, Amani Toomer, Derrick Alexander and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard.[1] Cameron served as an assistant at Michigan alongside future head coaches Lloyd Carr, Gary Moeller, Les Miles, and Mike DeBord. His fellow graduate assistant was Mike Trgovac, who is currently the defensive line coach of the Green Bay Packers, after serving six years as the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers."
The Real Malzhan Story
I have a source that reported through a friend of Malzhan's that midway through the season Chizik went to Gus and told him to "tone down the offense we are who we are" which was obvious as the day is long after the Clemson game where we started out on fire. This information also was apparent last night as GUS had full play calling ability. My belief is this is ONE of the reasons Gus left. At any rate I felt like I should share with Y'all. I know this is coming from a source and we never know if it is 100% accurate, however this is a from an individual who has allot of credibility.
Newtons Lawyer says
He is 1,000,000 percent sure Cam did not receive any money. BO knows bammers are behind this as Kool Bell exposed in his post. This should be a catalyst and rallying cry for Auburn I am more then confident that Auburn and Cam will come out unscaved. The only harm this will cause is Newton is sure to leave (which is significant) to the NFL as Mel Kiper Jr. has him as a top 15 pick. I personally believe we had a small chance to keep him before this bs started. I would leave if I was him and think he is good as gone. If we can win the natl title it will be allot easier to stomic ALL I ASK IS 1 BEFORE I DIE.

Jay Jacobs Deserves Some Credit
I know this will not be popular with all of our fanbase, however upon further reflection Jay made a great move for our Auburn family and I would challenge anyone in a debate who would care to dispute that. Let me throw the caveat that I was the first to call for his head after the hire.
We all can't forget the idiot that cussed Chizik when he got of the plane arriving at Auburn. This needs to be noted that Jay Jacobs deserves allot of credit and is one of the reasons we are in the thick of things. On another note, I think looking back on "The Drive' at Kentucky was a monumental turn in our season. After watching the cats come back and beat S Car like they almost did to us shows us what a good home team hey are. I am the happiest I have been as a Auburn fan as we sit here tonight with a Heisman contender and a #4 BCS team. Who knows where the season will take us but it sure is fun. War Eagle Everyone
Its Great To Be an Auburn Tiger !
Auburn Game In 3D
After reading Jay's post about watching a game in 3D. Im wondering if I could get to best buy and have one up before kickoff. I heard from another friend the technology is amazing. Has anyone else watched a football game on 3D ? I figure 3D tvs will get cheap like plasma's did. We need to bottle up Latimore and force S Carolina to throw Garcia is ripe to throw a few picks. Auburn Gains Ground On 4 Star Running Back
After a huge home win Demetrius Hart said the only thing that did not make his visit a 10 on a scale of 10 was he did not commit. Does this mean we will soon have a HUGE 4 start back committed. If I were a betting man err which I am I would say he is a Tiger in the next 10 days. Auburn comes into the game as a 3 point favorite which indicates the experts in the desert have the teams with a even power rating giving Auburn the 3 points for the home field advantage. See what Hart said below in a interview with Rivals.com Justin Hokanson.
"It went good. It was great," Hart said. "It was an exciting game, came down to an overtime win. The coaches, everyone was great. It was a great visit."
Hart was impressed with the atmosphere of over 87,000 fans, and says the only thing that would have made the trip better is if he would have committed.
"It was very different," he said. "That was SEC football. I've never seen anything like that. The fans were crazy. My visit was a '9' out of 10. I didn't commit or that would have made it a 10."
Auburn's depth chart at running back is an advantage to the Tigers, Hart said. So is the offense.
"They only have two (running backs) after this year, so that would be perfect for me," Hart said. "I fit the offense very well."
When asked about the atmosphere and how it compares to what he's seen at Michigan, Hart says the close knit feel that the Auburn team and staff exude is something that really stood out to him.
"Just the excitement level, how the fans are so happy," Hart said. "The coaches, fans, everybody is so together and happy."
Following the game, Hart witnessed Auburn's locker room celebration.
"That was crazy," Hart said. "It was like nothing I've ever seen before. They got together and sang 'Lean on Me'. That's a sign of everyone being together."
Hart said he is likely done with visits, and will begin the final process of making his college choice.
"I'll just have to talk it over with my mom and go from there," Hart said.
War Eagle we would welcome you with open arms Demertrius
Auburn Win Is More Then Meets The Eye
What a great weekend to get an overtime win in a unbelievable environment. We had a slew of recruits we would love to sign at the game. Hart from Dr Phillips here in Orlando made the official visit for Clemson game as well as many others. Chizik indicated they had to deny recruits tickets. Ok, so a senior in high school gets to see the guys and one smoking girl on the Gameday crew come to the plains, Additionally they get to witness a gritty-gusty comeback in OT. Do they like Auburn allot more then when they got there ? Your darn right they do. This was a big win in more ways then one.
GameDay Coming To The Plains Tigers Move To #15 In USA Today Poll
Auburn will host ESPN College GameDay, Saturday, Sept. 18 prior to the Auburn-Clemson game. The traveling pre-game show will make its first appearance at Auburn since 2008 and fourth appearance on campus since 2004. This will create a fired up crowd on the plains, which will be important helping the D get fired up.
This will be GameDay's sixth visit to Auburn during its 24-year existence and will mark the 11th time that Auburn has played in the on-site game. The last time GameDay visited Auburn was on Sept. 20, 2008 when the Tigers hosted LSU.
GameDay's previous visits to the Auburn campus have been in 2006 (vs. Florida), 2004 (vs. Georgia), 1997 (vs. Florida) and 1995. Its debut on the Plains was on Nov. 18, 1995, when Auburn hosted Alabama.

Auburn 1 Recruiting Class ?
Auburn has creep into the top 5 according to Rivals.com. With national Signing Day being Wednesday, Feb. 3. and Auburn still having five of the 27 counting back to the 2009 class we have a real solid chance at the #1 class in the nation. six spots are open, and the targets to fill those spots are all highly regarded and highly ranked by Rivals. Auburn still has a shot at Lattimore or Seastrunk Lattimore recently narrowed his list to four schools. He will choose Auburn, South Carolina, Oregon or Penn State on Feb. 2, the night before Signing Day. At defensive end, Auburn is among the finalists for four-star Corey Lemonier and junior college three-star Ken Adams. Rivals ranks Auburn's linebacker class #6 In the nation. On another note I was pulling for Bama last night due to the fact the SEC is enjoying our time in the sun. I have allot of friends who are fans of the little 12 and the Pac 10 and love to rub there nose in SEC Domination. We still finished #2 in the conference bowl race.
Dyer Playing in Under Armor
High school All American game on ESPN as I write this. This kid is amazing he reminds me of Barry Sanders. He runs low to the ground and has great vision. I know that is a bold comparison for a senior in high school as I am watching he is the back that comes to mind. Who would have guessed the 360 degree turnaround Auburn had. My hats of to CGC he has really done an excellent job. We are lucky to have him.
Cameron Newton Coming To The Plains
I posted last week I was 90 percent sure we would land him. We have the QB in my opinion that can get us a national title. This is a great way for the Auburn family to bring in the new year. What a incredible job this staff has done on the recruiting trail. I cant wait to see what Newton is able to accomplish with the Gus Bus and our receiving core. I can see him and Deangelo Benton making it rain on the plains. War Eagle everyone and Happy New year !

Auburn Ranked 14th Most Vaulable College Football Team According To Forbes.com
The first thing that jumps out at me is we are ranked one spot ahead of USC who incidentally was the only Pac 10 team in the top 20. We are down from last year, yet the numbers are still impressive at 70 million in value and a cool 30 mil in profit. One thing that's for sure is the top 20 is littered with southern teams. This does not come as a surprise. Let's face it down here Saturday's are just a little more important and it shows in dollars and cents not just the field. Here is the link www.forbes.com/2009/12/22/most-vaulable-college-football-teams-business-sports-college-football.htm
Urban Meyer Steps Down
While watching the UNC Pitt game they just announced Urban Meyer will be stepping down. There are no further details. What a shock one would imagine there may be a personal issue. Florida will be losing a ton of talent, however the timing is so strange. It sounds as if there may be a health issue. This will send shockwaves around college football. The most immediate thought will be what happens to Florid's recruiting class ? I hope all is well is well with Urban Meyer and his family. Your thoughts?

Recruiting Rampage
Is Gene Chizik giving Sabin a run for his money ? Unlike Tommy Tubberville Chizik is actually assembling a class that could rival Alabama and the rest of the country. It looks as if we will land the top JUCO QB in the country. Cameron Newton said he loves the Auburn staff campus and everything about Auburn. Our chances are 90% on getting this kid and I'm here to tell you after following him for two years he will be the starter NEXT YEAR if he comes to Auburn. Here is what Newton was told by CGM He goes and makes an average quarterback good. He told me he could make a good quarterback great. That's what I want to hear." Our competition is Miss State and Oklahoma. I don't want to jinx it but after reading the article it sounds like he is all but signed. After landing two four star offensive tackles and Dyer we are ripping it up on the recruiting trail. Merry Xmas and War Eagle. Take a good look at Cameron Newton he will be the starter here for the next two years if we sign him.

Auburn breaks into the top 25
War Eagle Everyone,
After a three game losing streak we broke into the USA Today top 25- I think anyone would be pleased if we knew we would be among the top 25 teams in the country heading into Amen corner- Who knows we could easily beat UGA and Bama and end up in the top 10- I know I AM TRUELY THE ETERNAL OPTIMIST. Bruce Feldman of ESPN has us projected in the Capital One Bowl vs. Iowa and Mark Schlabach projects us picking cotton vs. Oklahoma although I would like to play in the better bowl Oklahoma would be great matchup.

A Visit To The Plains
Living in Orlando, it's tough to get up to games often. Consequently, I made it a point to book the Ole Miss game preseason. My thought was Ole Miss would most likely be a night game with an electric atmosphere. I figured it would be a great way to introduce my wife to my other love affair, The Auburn Tigers.
We got in Friday night and checked into a great bed and breakfast, The Fountionview Mansion (highly recommended) and went out for a bite. We got up the next morning had breakfast with four other couples that were in from as far as Texas and close as Birmingham. We drove down to the stadium for the Tiger Walk. I took my wife over to Samford Hall to show her a campus landmark.
Walking around campus was awesome - I thought to myself I need to make sure I soak up this late October Saturday on the Plains. Scalped a couple tickets and we were in. Upon grabbing our seats there was an old timer sitting next to me and he was a hoot. His first comment was "you know we are almost Vanderbilt". I laughed that one off. His next one was, "If we lose this game this place will be red for the Iron Bowl." I had to stop him there and said if you recall we are one year removed from beating Bammer for 6 straight years. He laughed and said it was nice to have some optimism.
The guy to my left asked me if I followed recruiting and I said of course and he pointed out Marcus Lattimore one section over. He seemed to be enjoying himself with some other recruits. Think about the potential class we have coming in: Dyer-Reed-Seastrunk- these are just possibilities. We already have numerous four stars committed according to www.rivals.com. Gene and the coaches are getting top talent interested in Auburn.
The stadium was not quite a sellout but still was an awesome atmosphere. After the win I took my wife to Toomer's Corner for the festivities and to the store for lemonade. On the way home she said, "I can see why you love Auburn so much. The traditions are great and the people are so friendly."
Sitting here thinking about the weekend - There is no other place in the world like Auburn on a Saturday in the fall and I know why I love Auburn so much. I won't let so much time pass between games. It looks like ESPN has us going to the Outback Bowl. I am firmly convinced Gene is our guy and the team is moving in the right direction. War Eagle Everyone.
CoachTrooper Taylor
Coach Trooper Taylor's excitement is contagious it excites the crowd, player and recruit's. Watching CTT on the sidelines makes me want to strap it on. We need this fire on the defensive side of the football. I personally would not mind seeing CGC take over the D play calling. We all no he can cut the mustard (2004). Don't get me wrong I am ecstatic with our start this year, but with a solid defense we could be REALLY dangerous.

Coach Chizik

After watching Auburn Saturday night did anyone think back to the outrage felt across the Auburn family when CGC was hired? I did, and after watching Chizik assemble a staff land some last minute recruits and seeing the culmination on the field Saturday night, we have the right guy on the plains. I know this was La Tech, however Auburn is a different team then we saw down the stretch last year. With the landing of LaDarius Owens the nephew of former Tiger James Owens in addition to how things are looking with the in state talent Jeremy Richardson I have never been more convinced our Tigers are heading in the right direction. I predict eight wins with a BIG upset. Clearly 500 plus yards on offense was something we could only dream about last year. Chris Todd looked like the QB Mike Leach was drooling over before we landed him. Instead of the wet noodle passes from last year this guy had a cannon Saturday night. The experts in Vegas have Auburn a two touchdown favorite over the Bulldogs, this is a much bigger number then I expected which indicates they have confidence in our Tigers and that means more then any commentator predicting a victory to me.
War Eagle
The Eagle is flying
War Eagle,
I feel excited about what this staff has accomplished recruiting wise. I also feel good about what CGC has accomplished in putting together an excellent staff CGM,Luper,Rocker,Roof. If your not excited to see what this team looks like in September you dont have a pulse. Im expecting a 9 or 10 win season next year. We lost so many games by less then a touch last year. Any of you that have followed my post's know my love for CTT, with that being said I would be amiss If I said he did not look like he lost his passion. For those of you remember our new coach there is no lack of passion and fire. I'm sure you have been following recruiting, we have landed few studs and got a qb( Tyrik Rollison) to fill Raymond Cotton's place. I look at the players coach Luper has talked into taking a visit to our university and get excited for the years to come. We have had the top guys in the nation visit and have an outside shot on Randle. Coach Luper appears to be an outstanding recruiter. We have jumped from te number 29 class in the country to #19 according to Rivals and that is during a coaching transition. War Eagle, I am excited as hell about what we have going on at Auburn.
Auburn offers Rocker
Rivals.com Bryan Matthews is reporting CGC has extended an offer to former Outland trophy winner and Tiger great Tracy Rocker the D line coaching position. Any of yall that have been following out tiger team for awhile remember what a stud Rocker was. Rocker currently coaching the D line at Ole Miss who had a pretty darn good defensive line this year. Rocker, who was also awarded the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award as a senior, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. This would be GREAT for our team if it comes to fruition

Chizik's Stock Is Rising
Fellow Tigers,
I think most of us felt dynamically different four weeks ago about our program. After our new fearless leader made some outstanding moves including the hiring of two of Okie state's best asst coaches, Taylor and Luper both excellent recruiters. We have the #1 prospect in the country visiting courtesy of Luper. Bastrop La. Reuban Randle a Five star receiver is set to visit the plains later this month. This is huge, you never know he could fall in love with AU like we did and be a TIGER ! Luper was in Wichita Kansas making a visit to Bryce Brown, the two watched thenatl title game together. If your not fimilar with Brown he is an absolute stud. Brown is rated one of the top 5 backs in the nation. Both recruits are still outside shots but when was the last time we had two of the top 10 recruits in the country with a sincere interest ? Raymond Cotton is also back n the mix thanks to Willis being retained. Lastly, I know most of yall watched Malzahn who I refer to as the Zohan coach the Golden Hurricane to a rout and a 40 plus point performance over Ball St Tuesday night. Chizik's stock is rising in my book.

Willis Retained
In my opinion Chizik made a great decision retaining Wilis. Willis was heading up the recruiting of Raymond Cotton after Tubberville was fired. Raymond Cotton sr indicated Willis being fire was one of the reasons his son decomitted. I like the decision to keep Wllis on board. Willis has been a Auburn player and has a love for the university. With some luck Willis will be able to get Cotton back on board with us.

Get ready for coach Turner Gill

Would you like to have a member of the Tom Osborne's coaching tree coaching at Auburn ?

First I want to ask Power of Dixeland if I can change my new coach prediction for the bragging rights ? I think if Jay Jacobs wants to keep his job he needs to hire CTG. This is why, coach Gill has turned around a putrid Buffalo team. Coming to the plains with the current talent would be like a kid walking in a candy store for. Look what happened when Utah took a shot with Urban Meyer fresh out of Bowling Green a comparable school to Buffalo. This guy is a proven winner 28-2 as a starter at Nebraska, Gill finished fourth in the Heisman trophy running and propelled his teammate (Mike Rozier) to winning the heisman. Coach Gill was a part of three national championships at Nebraska. We all remember how dominant Nebraska was. He knows how to win and has been a part of a major program it is not like we are scooping him up frm Buffalo with no additional experience. Coach Gill is the man or Auburn he is motivator and appears to be a decent human being with a focus on the same values coach Tubbs had. I will be extremely disappointed if we miss him. I am sure CTG will give an impressive interview, let's just hope Jacobs doesn't mess this up.
War Eagle..
AU phone Interview with
Who I believe will be our new coach in the next 10 days, Coach Turner Gill. Bryan Mathews at www.rivals.com had this to say
"I have reason to believe today's phone interview between Auburn and Turner Gill went well and I expect them to meet face-to-face in the next couple of days"
Gill coached under Tom Osborne at Nebraska and won three national titles during his
time in Lincoln.

This guy will be a great addition to the Auburn family.
Greg Schiano/Brian Kelley
I am going to start by saying firing CTT was a terrible decision, two monkeys could have handled it better then Gogue and Jacobs. They need to be dismissed immediately. Having said that we have to move forward, I did take WEA'S suggestion and drop Gouge a line. Ivan Masiel wrote an article that sums up this debacle. The article can be found on www.espn.com.
Schiano Is the perfect candidate for Auburn. He turned around Rutgers, imagine what this guy can do with Auburn. Even with Rutger's slow start this year they are finishing up the year with a 5-0 record pending tonight's result. He is a great D coordinator, young at the age of 42 still has plenty of fire. Schiano was the D coordinator at Miami in the late 90's in addition he is of high moral character and graduates payers. After his 2006 season Schino was awarded the Walter Camp coach of the year award.

My second choice is Brian Kelley for obvious reasons. He has been a winner everywhere he has gone. A brilliant offensive mind. My bet is we keep Rhodes if we bring in a offensive guy and he's gone with a guy like Schiano or Strong
.
My third choice is Charlie Strong. This guy has earned a shot. Great recruiting ties in Florida and the players have always responded to Charlie's hard nosed attitude. I would be happy to have Charlie on he plains.
.
Tommy Tuberville
War Eagle everyone,
We played our best football of the year in a losing effort this weekend. I was proud of our guys. In addition we made a good showing to our recruits that were in attendance. Any of you out there that may be squawking about firing CTT should be taken to the hospital to receive a brain transplant. He is a great coach, take a look at his body of work: record vs top 10 teams, SEC record, 8 bowl games in a row(has won 6 of his 8 bowl games), 6 wins in a row vs our hated rival. That stat alone should keep him around. CTT would have a job so fast it would make your head spin if we fired him. With Burns and Fannin coming back and a young D we are set up to turn things around next year. Think about how close our loses other then W vir have been this year. The Georgia and Arkansas game we were knocking on the door ready to kick it down inside the 15 with one minute to play. We are just a play here and a play there from having a very different looking season. I am as disappointed as anyone, I live and die with this team. My week is ruined if we lose. Just think about what we could look like with an top notch O coordinator to mentor Burns just as Borges did with Jason Cambell. I know the group on this blog that want CTT fired is small and at the end of the day none of our voices will ever be heard, however we need to support a coach that has brought so much to Auburn.
War Eagle
A Look Back
I know yall remember the great years we have had since CTT has taken over our program. And as bad as my stomach churned last night I know he should at the minimum be given another year. Remember this game/year ?

It's late, awfully late. Fourth-and-12, Auburn down 9-3 to LSU. The third game of Campbell's final season is about to end with a loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium, in front of the largest crowd ever to see a football game in the state of Alabama. Coordinator Al Borges can barely stand to watch from the sideline. He took over the position in the off-season, replacing Hugh Nall, who replaced Bobby Petrino in 2003, who replaced Noel Mazzone in 2002. Is it any wonder Campbell has been struggling all day? As much as Borges tells him to let it rip in the new West Coast, the QB still sometimes plays as if he were afraid to mess up.
As the stadium waits, quiet as a spool of string, Campbell takes the ball from under center. The Tigers blitz. Before he's hit by two defenders, Campbell finds receiver Courtney Taylor with a 14-yard pass to get the game-saving first down. Three plays later, he hits Taylor again for a 16-yard touchdown. The Tigers win 10-9 and don't lose a game all season.
Do you think a bad football coach can go undefeated in the SEC ? LSU lost two games last year and won the national title, Florida was beat the year before by guess who ? Yeah our Tigers, who CTT has won his last two games aganst including a win in the Swamp Urban's first loss at home as the Gators coach. CTT has a winning record vs FL,TENN,GEOR,ala SIX WINS IN ROW AGANST BAMA! When you log onto this site Jay's title includes beating bama yearly since 2002. You want to risk this becouse we are having one terrible year. Emotion will make you think irrationally. Do we want to risk our program to a new Coach ? It was not even a year go when we beat Clemson in the Peach bowl and we all were on cloud nine with expectations of a HUGE year.
My vote is to keep CTT around and let him overhaul our offensive staff.
Ensminger Will Take Charge of Auburn's Offense.
Auburnsports.com is reporting Steve Ensminger will take charge of Auburn's offense. But he won't be the offensive coordinator.Ensminger was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Clemson from 1997-98, Texas A&M from 1994-96 and Louisiana Tech from 1988-90. He served as Georgia's quarterback coach and passing game coordinator.
Tommy Tubberville said: "Steve Ensminger and I have sat down and talked a lot about responsibilities," Tuberville said. "He will be in the box, he and I will converse about plays. He will be in charge of the offense in terms of calling plays.
Tuberville said the search for a new offensive coordinator will begin shortly but he won't name one until after the season. He also said none of AU's current assistants will be considered for the position.
We will get this turned around. I think this gives us the best chance to win.
Recruits reaction
Based on Rivals.com reporting, first reaction from all the offensive skill players is vey positive. The tailbacks all seem to be MORE positive about coming to Auburn. Incidentally, I think it was the right move, after considering would Georgia and Bama want him coaching when we play them ? That is a yes. It could not get much worse. Get wounded duck Tood out and line up Fannin and Burns and let's play some SEC football. It looks like Ensminger has the lead on the play calling. I like where we stand much better then 7 hours ago.

Actually I was a little disappointed to see him go. He was the one who offered me and was the one I talked to most of the time so it's a little messed up to see him let go like that. But I'm committed to Auburn.
Brandon Jacobs
I don't think this will impact my recruitment. That's all I can say.""I heard about it after school today. I'm not really sure how I feel. They know what they are doing, obviously. The decision they made is probably the decision they wanted to make. It doesn't affect me at all. Of course, they'll probably be going more to a running game now, which is better for a running back. At the same time, Auburn is where I wanted to go. I'm 100 percent committed.
Cameron Kenney
""I committed to Auburn. I didn't commit to Tony Franklin. He didn't have really anything to do with it. The offense was a big key, but I made that commitment to Auburn, not the offense. I'm still coming to Auburn, definitely.""When I heard I was kinda surprised.
Rodney Scott
I was hoping they would get out of the spread and start running back downhill. I feel pretty good about it now because now I think we'll get back to the old Auburn, running downhill and everything, like it was with Cadillac Williams."
I read several others ALL WERE POSITIVE.
