Game Thread 11/4: Grizzlies vs Warriors - Last Team To Score 150 is a loser!
This game has me very excited. Why is that you ask? Well Memphis has let a 40-point scorer emerge from the previous 2 teams they have played, and while I have Monta Ellis on my fantasy squad, I fully expect him to becoming the 3rd. I could use a big night from the guy.
That is of course unless Memphis has actually taken the time to sure up some of their defensive issues in the span of 2 days. Nevertheless, enough of my fantasy dreams, and onto the preview of tonight's game.
He's No 6th Man, Says The Man
Future hall-of-famer Allen Iverson seems to already have issues with his role in Memphis after just one game back.
I understand this is what he went through in Detroit, but he needs to see the big picture. No, he most definitely is not a 6th man, even in the latter stages of his star studded career, but after a month of inactivity and no basketball, should he really expect to be plugged directly into the starting lineup? There's a few guys who can do that, the LeBrons, Wades and Bryants of the world, but he needs to understand that he should probably work his way back into it.
In numerous posts I have agreed with many that eventually he needs to be the starting guy in Memphis because of his experience, but for a team thats not looking for the playoffs this season, he should just sit back and let things get worked out before freaking out.
Wrap-Up: A.I's Return Ruined by Martin, Kings
Allen Iverson finally made his season debut for the Grizzlies on Monday evening, but even his efforts were thwarted by Kevin Martin and Kings. Not a lot to take away from this one except to forget about it and get over it.
More on the other side, over The Jump.
Wrap-Up: Grizz Take Nugs To Limit, lose 133-123
From what I did see of this game, WOW. Maybe the most entertaining game of the young season so far. Close game, back and forth, two legit performances, but ultimately a heartbreaking loss for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Let's check it out over The Jump.
11/1 - Memphis vs Denver Nuggets
When's the last time Memphis was over .500?! I'm not a follower so I don't know for sure, but I'm willing to guess it's been a while. The Grizzlies are a strange team to me right now. They lose to Detroit in the opener, who by all accounts looks to be a middle of the road squad this year, then go out and pull out a big time win against the surprisingly good looking Raptors (who beat my Cavaliers).
Now they take on Denver, one of the hottest teams to start the new season. Let's head over The Jump and get into it.
Game Thread: New World Order- Opener vs. Detroit
Although the first four games of the season were played last night, this is the day most of us have been waiting for. A day to see all our teams play, all our fantasy players go at it for the first time, and see what our teams have in store for this season.
The Memphis Grizzlies will take on the Detroit Pistons tonight at 8:00 P.M., in what looks like it could be a solid home opener for the Grizz. Wouldn't it be nice to get off on the right foot?
Let's see the storylines of the game over the jump. (ed. note: djturtleface writes the other side.)
Preseason: Grizzlies vs Bobcats
Grizzlies fall to Heat: 99-93
For as bad as Memphis seemed to play in this game, they still kept things close, which is a good sign going forward. There are a lot of things to take away from this game. Let's take a look at them over The Jump.
Preseason: Miami Heat
Tomorrow is absurdly busy for Aurunna, so here is the penultimate Preseason preview for the '09-'10 season, a day early.
The Grizzlies will take on the Miami Heat at 7:30 tomorrow evening in what is sure to be an instant classic! God only knows who is going to suit up for this one, but seeing as it is so close to the season we may see a lot of no shows. I'd be surprised if the Heat even show up, seeing as half their team is on constant IR.
What to look for in this game (assuming everyone suits up) over the jump:
Grizzlies Run Over Pistons, 115-94
AUrunna here, checking in for DJturtleface while he's away in Europe. Unlike my colleague, I do not share his unbridled enthusiasm for the Memphis Grizzlies, but I'm strong enough to cover for a few weeks.
Back to the story, the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Detroit Pistons handily Saturday night in a preview of the season opener for both teams.
Let's take a closer look on the other side.
