Who Will Replace Ryan Williams For The Arizona Cardinals?
Well with that horrible horrible injury to Ryan Williams, we need to think of someone who can be a good stop-gap replacement. The question is, however who should it be?
Now I will throw a couple of names in this poll here and give stats as well to see who can we get in whats left of free agency.....
Open discussion in JETS blog
I started a chat today in insparation of Screwfish and Gang green wants some other opinons form other cardinals fans the link will be after the jump but first I would like to mention what is going on.
The post I made was like the "Ask A Raider Fan" that screw fish made a couple days ago and I thought I should pay it forward and do the same for Jets fans and some of them are asking if I could bring a few of you to the mix so they can see a more broad perspective about our team so if you would go click on the button that allows you to post on their blog and help me explain some of our desicions in the past present and future as well as other general questions, I would like to point out that we should do this to other blogs as well so we can all know the fans a little better!
Ask A Cardinals Fan
Hey guys AZcardinals480 here, I was just looking at some other SB Nation teams and I was looking to get to know the team and their fans a little better, with that being said I would like to know if you guys would like to have a chat about my team so you can know us a little better and maybe I can learn some things about your team as well, now you guys may make fun of my team if you would like (Derek "20 yards away" Anderson Jokes would be nice if they are not old) if you are still asking why am I doing this it is because screwfish from the Raiders did the same thing from the Raiders blog so I figured I should pay it forward and see if Gang Green wonders about the cardiinals as well. I would also like to point out that I enjoy Rex Ryan and his "Go Kill 'Em" attitude and as for this season "Can't Wait" Please recomend this so this post can stick around a bit longer....

Crack shot at the roster Part 1 (Before the cuts)
Hey guys, I remember I did this last year so guess what I'm doing it again, I will try my best to predict the roster of the '11 season you may give your imput if you'd like. Also I will give my list of people who have a small shot of making it, but I'm pulling for them to overcome the small shot. Projected roster and position on deph chart after the jump....
Looking at next years possible depth chart
Okay okay this is a wild guess but hell Im going to do it now I can't decide between some guys so there will be a * next to them telling of possible replacements or changes.
Depth Chart 1:
Specialists
LS: Mike Leach
K: Jay Feely
P: Ben Graham* *Rookie (He is at the end of his contract and I don't know if the cards will renew it)
PR: Ansdre Roberts
Offense:
QB: John Skelton, Richard Bartel*, (drafted rookie/FA) *(Hall I can't see returning Bartel maybe replaced by a vet)
RB: Tim Hightower, Beanie Wells, LaRod Stephens-Howling, (Alfonso Smith/rookie) *(Wright probably will retire)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Andre Roberts, Stephen WIlliams, Max Komar, (Rookie)
TE: Jim Dray, Stephen Spach, (Rookie)
FB: Nehemiah Broughton* (Reagan can come back)
C: Lyle Sendiline, Ben Claxton, Rex Hadnot
G: Rex Hadnot, Douce Lutui, (Rookie/FA)
T: Levi Brown, Bridges Jeremy, Brandon Keith
Defense:
CB: Michael Adams, Greg Toler, Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, Marshay Green, A.J Jefferson, (Rookie)
LB: Daryl Washington, O'Brien Shcofield, Clark Haggans, Joey Porter*, Reggie Walker, Will Davis, Paris Lennon, Cyril Obizior, (rookie/FA) X2 (Joey can be too expensive, but we can get a guy in the draft or a rookie FA)
DE: Darnell Dockett, Calais Campbell, Alan Branch, Dan WIlliams, (Rookie) X2 (Robinson said this is his last season)
S: Adrian Wilson, Kerry Rhodes, Rashad Johnson, Matt Ware, (Rookie/FA)X2
Now bout that draft I can see us vertially taking anyone in the first round, most likely a QB because of our need, second round should be a CB or LB and 3rd should be OL, 4th DE, 5th WR, 6th OL/TE, 7th TE/OL
I see us taking either of these guys for a punter Chas Henry or even Trevor Hankins as Rookie FA....
Offseason Options and Other Stuff
Well it has been a little while since I have been back here but here it goes...
Offseason:
Problem 1: Need a QB
Well we all know that Anderson and Hall are gone, (Hall imo is way too small to be a franchise QB), Kolb looks okay but makes too many mistakes and Bulger has been proven to be a bipolar QB, and Young is too high matinence.
Solution 1: Pick Up a Vet; Look at the proven Vets before the draft Bartel has shown that he can be a good starter or relief, as can others around the leauge, Kitna, McGee, Burnell, Collins ect. So look at avaliable used to be starters and you may have a rebirth in their once upon a time careers.
Solution 2: Draft a QB; Luck, Newton, Mallet, Locker, Ponder, Pretty much pick of the litter at round 5 (well maybe not luck) The problem is you don't know how these guys will fair in the NFL, Look at Jamarcus Russel then Payton Manning you can get anything from JR to PM that is a high risk if you ask me.
Problem 2: Free agents
We have a couple of players going into free agency this offseason, Breaston, Lutui, Faneca, Patrick, Spach, Watson, who do you keep?
Solution: Simple who has preformed to expectations? that doesn't mean great stats it means who has made plays often and shown effort on and off the field? Breaston, Lutui, and Patrick have, Faneca will cost too much Watson has improved as has Adams, Spach is iffy he is good blocking but Dray has shown that he can block and he can catch at times (he IS a rookie and he can improve).
Problem 3: Retirements; Kurt Warner comes to mind on this issue big playmakers leaving can kill, Haggans, Porter, and Hayes have some left (imo Porter did great its not about sacks its about stops his 50 tackles this season is great he is 10th on the season leaders for our team and he missed 3 games) Robinson is going to retire and there may be need to replace him or at least a backup to his replacement (Williams is a great replacement) if Williams gets hurt who will help?
Solution: If you have a good replacement get a great backup, I say look late into the draft or in mid draft. OR Look for replacements early I smell Lawrence Guy late and maybe Casey Matthews for a LB.
well thats all I have as of now after the jump will be some guys I want us to draft note this is for our positions we need help with.
Practice squad predictions
Well since that some guys were cut unexpectedly I will take a guess at who makes it on P.S
Baggs, C. Johnson, C, Brown, O. Jones, T. Pestcok, J Palmer, A. Smith, A.J. Jefferson
So if anyone agrees with me please comment these guys who are getting cut have suprised me, especially Herman Johnson, and Cody Brown it seems like Fletcher has made this team, Beisel leaving despite his good game also suprised me, same with Becht I did't expect him to leave either. I say Miller is next.
Blessing in disguise?
Okay so our WR situation is not good with our injuries (Fitz, Doucet) but now we can see how our new guys handle themselves alot better and more often. For an example Komar who no one really payed attention to, and Mougey who could of had a nice reception on the sideline if it didn't bounce a little. We can now see how Roberts, Onrea Jones, Mike Jones, Komar, Mougey, and Gant fair in this situation. So far I see Williams making the team Mougey and Gant on practice squad. (Komar will be picked up by another team no doubt) Gant I see having the suspention work against him he might not even make P.S. but what do you think of this? (If you haven't noticed one of the guys im rootin' for is Mougey)
Another question who are you rooting for WR wise. (no locks like Breas, Fitz, and Doucy)
Muhtadi may return
Currently Azcardinals.com is hosting a mini series entitled fight for 53 showing the road to the roster for four players.
This season featured Muhtadi, Skelton, Calvin, and Baggs.
A recent Muhtadi video interested me, and here is why; Muhtadi mentioned that he was sad that he was waivered but he didn't want to go anywhere else but here. Also he said he talked to the coaches and they want him back ASAP to see what he can do with the pads on. for the link to the(as well as all the others) video here it is enjoy.
My Final 53... for now
Okay just looking at the potential here we can see that there are some people who will not make the team even if they seem good here is my list as of today ill make another down the road.
Muhtadi cut
With williams signing the cards cut injured Dean Muhtadi and released Deryn Bowser, and Highsmith is gone too. But they brought back Togafu and nabbed corner Aaron Rouse. I know this sucks but hey thats what happens when you get injured the first day of training.....
Mr. Washington signs his contract
Thats right Washington signed his contract today leaving the cards to cut Fullback Mui'a (idk how to spell it) That means Williams is left. This is interesting however, I have expected them to cut a WR or an offensive linemen. I think that they are cutting some people who haven't really done much for the team in production. I actually hope that one of the linemen make it to camp to see what we have you never know we might have had a sleeper in our signings this whole time.
Another one signs
Big news everybody O'brien Schofield has signed and the cards have cut Devin Tyler (undrafted free agent) that leaves our first and second round picks (Williams and Washington) left I say they don't sign till a couple of days before or after training camp. This only means one thing FOOTBALL IS NEARLY HERE!!!!!!
CUT #3 WHO WILL SIGN NEXT????
Thats right we have signed our fourth draftee and cut our third player this time it was Ryan Kees an offensive linemen. I know I have been asking who will be cut next I want to do something different who will we sign next? Will it be Williams? Washington? Schofield? Now that Dray, Roberts, Skelton, and Calvin we have to unfortunately have to cut three more cards as of now the ones we have cut haven't done anything for the team as far as I know.
CUT # 2
After Skelton signed his contract we have cut another Card this time it was Herana Daze-Jones a safety.
Which means that there are still four more rookies to sign (Williams, Washington, Roberts, Schofield) and then we cut four more people. That means that someone who we have been with for a long time may be at the end of their cardinal career. Is it Wright? or is it someone else? Are we going to trim the undrafties? Or is it one from the 1 year vets? Have we decieded what corner is going? Until the next rookie signs we will not know, but we can most certainly guess.....
So again I ask you who will be next and who do you think will sign?
THE FIRST CUT HAS BEEN MADE!!!
That's right guys Juamorris Stewart has been cut with the signing of Mr. Calvin none were cut when Dray was signed because they didn't need to do that for one I'm glad they waited awhile to do this so that they could see who was going and who was staying Juamorris did miss the bulk of the offseason because of an injury which brings me to our next question who is next to go.....?
Here come the choices I will give some stats and readings I have made myself to add here so you can know who I am talking about......
Deryn Bowser (WR)- From Akron this guy missed half of his 2009 season he managed to get 5TDs and snag 307 yards which is eclipsed his 785 yard season the year before for more stats on him visit this site here:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=384202
A.J. Jefferson (CB)- From Fresno State this particular CB is pretty good ranked 23 out of 168 CBs that were in the draft its no wonder why we grabbed this one he is the contender that Green has to face to make the team as well as Calvin. His stats are pretty good in the return game he had three in his three year career. But had no picks. For his stats visit here:

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=74087&draftyear=2010&genpos=CB
Chris Johnson (LB)- I couldn't find much from this South Dakota State man. He isn't that well known but still pretty good, With the article I found he had about 198 tackles in his three year career with and two pics. His article can be found here: http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15000&ATCLID=1087717
Casey Knips (T)- Another player from South Dakota State. There isn't really much on this guy being a tackle and all but I know the cards could always use one. HIs article can be found here: http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15000&ATCLID=1087721
Stevie Baggs: This reminds me of a Kurt Warner story not getting drafted, playing in a different league (for Baggs CFL), then finally getting a shot on the big stage. For that I say he is on my list. Plus he is a very nice guy.
Dean Muhtadi: This guy is the happiest guy in the NFL, or at least thats how Cardinals Blogmaster Darren Urban puts it. He is a workout fanatic he is great in the locker room and pushes everyone to the next level for that we need him.
Darren Mougey: As a WR/QB from San Deigo State he is a hometown hero to Arizona (playing for Scottsdale Caparral Highschool. He was signed to a team but he was cut. I see potential in this guy and I do see him playing for the Cards in the future if he does not make it.
Charles Ali: Although I see this guy as a second stringer, he played for the Redskins and now he is here. I say it is time for him to have a new start since we are changing our gameplan I see this guy having a more sucessful career here and for that he is on this list.
What the 9ners fans are saying......
I couldn't help but laugh at this I found this little post in whiners i mean 9ners nation give me your opinions when you stop laughing....
My Statistical Projections
I have seen alot of these and you and I would agree they don't give credit where credit is due. So from a fans point of view Ill give my predictions. Feel free to give your opinions as well.
The Undrafties.....
So I, for the past couple of days, have been on the cards website and it has come to my attention that we have some undrafties in the mix that may have a shot. I have done something like this to one year vets and I will do it again with these guys. So I ask you again if one of these guys makes the team who will it be?
Deryn Bowser (WR)- From Akron this guy missed half of his 2009 season he managed to get 5TDs and snag 307 yards which is eclipsed his 785 yard season the year before for more stats on him visit this site here:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=384202
Marshay Green (CB)- From Ole Miss Green started his first two season as a WR but they moved him to CB although he had two picks one was returned for a touchdown which is great. Now another well written, or typed if you are technical, Darren Urban article explained how good he was. If Ron Lott says you have a good chance of making the team you have a good chance of making the team. btw this is the guy im rooting for in this section. Here are the stats and article on this guy:
coveragehttp://www.olemisssports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=2600&ATCLID=542645
Max Hall (QB)- From BYU and ASU this rookie has made an impact in the college world with his 94 touchdown passes as well as 11,365 passing yards and 40 picks ,which isnt too bad but still bad, If you need to see some stats on this guy go here: http://www.byucougars.com/Profile.jsp?ID=2761

Max Komar (WR)- From Idaho this reciever caught a total of 59 passes for a total of 1,056 yards and idk how many TDs (it didnt really say) but htis guy is good and also has a chance to make it here again here is another article:
http://www.govandals.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17100&ATCLID=1088299
David Moosman (C)- From the University of Michigan this guy is a great center in his conference he was a 91% blocker on offense as a senior. Like Knips there isn't any stats on this one but feel free to look at his accomplishments posted in this article: http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/moosman_david00.html
Alfanso Smith (RB)- with about 747 rushing yards in his Three playing years in Kentucky this guy has potential he wasn't a starter, it seems he was always a backup so putting two and two together this isnt that bad for a backup. I can see this guy playing back up for another team but I'm not that confident he will make it.
http://www.ukathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/smith_alfonso00.html
Devin Tyler (T)- The only thing I could find out about this guy was he was from Temple and had an Okay proday. For that article go here:
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/561271
Stephen WIlliams (WR)- From Toledo this player broke one of their school record that was held by WR Lance Moore of the New Orleans Saints. (Williams had 229 receptions for 3,102 yards). For the article on him go here:
http://www.utrockets.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18000&ATCLID=1479963
Voting for some underdogs
So looking at the roster I see some newcomers that might not make it although I have my hopes for some I might as well ask who yould you want? The candidates I'm having you guys vote on are:
Justin Miller: Although I see this guy on special teams he may not make the team because of the talent we have currently. But those punts and kickoffs returned for touchdowns states his case (as a Raider too!) But he won't surpass LaRod in the charts......
