Braylon Edwards... injured?
Braylon was asked to report Monday with the Rookies and he was a No-Show. Braylon eventually reported on Tuesday and was immediately placed on the Active/NFI List.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what his ailment is? Could this be the reason he was "untradeable" in April? Even though we were led to believe that the Browns wanted a 1st and 2nd and the Giants would not pony up that much for Mr Dropsy. Were the Giants aware of this "issue"?
With this being a contract year I am curious why Mangini is keeping this hush hush. No way Braylon is a Brown next season anyways so if he isnt traded by Week 5 I would assume he will hit the FA Market come next spring.
To clarify, I think Braylon is DONE with Cleveland. I think he is a solid guy and will continue to be a solid pro but with the drops last season along with the huge blowup he displayed earlier this year stating he has done millions of dollars worth of charities for the city of Cleveland and if he continues to be disrespected he will take his charitable donations to Detroit. I just have this gut feeling he wants to prove he is a star this season and get out of dodge.
So I am hoping he comes balls out and has a 07 type season but if he does you gotta think he is FOR SURE done as a Brown? If teams see that he had such an impact year with a Pro Bowl season already under his belt will we even be able to resign him?

2009 Bengals
It seems each year the Steelers and even the Ravens come out victorious over our beloved Browns which forces us to cheer even harder when we play the Bengals trying to get at least 1 or 2 divisional victories.
What about this year? The Steelers are the Steelers and the Ravens are only going to get better (at least on offense); I am still waiting for all the rumors about the Ravens defense being too old and slow to compete at previous high levels but it never comes to fruition.
The Bengals are poised to start 4 new Offensive Linemen (or new to their position) which some would classify as football suicide. With a healthy Carson it seems they are not doing their due diligence to keep him protected with this move. Cutting Levi Jones (to me) was odd since he was not making an extraordinary amount in 09 – But I realize he has a problem staying healthy so this I am sure factored into the decision.
Obviously, any player can have their career cut short with one shot to the knee but Carson has been down that road already and with as bad as the team plays without him, he seems to be their only hope of sniffing a playoff berth.
So my question to all of you: Will the weak and embarrassing Browns defense be about to penetrate the newly formed Bengals OL and get to Carson this year?
I have always been a pessimistic person and I will admit I am worried about this season. Each year I approach the new season as a fresh start with an "anything can happen" attitude but this year I have a different feeling. (I know it is early) but with a new coach and new scheme I think it is safe to say the rebuilding has begun (a phrase synonymous with the Cleveland Browns)

SHAFFER CUT
1.5 million doesn't seem like much of a bonus...... Why not keep the guy?
Tucker is the starter BUT when was the last time he made it a full season?
I am fine with ManKok bringing in thier own guys, and trading K2, but how can we release a solid RT that has started 86 games
And I have read we now have 5 million in "dead money" taken away from our cap number.
This makes zero sense.

JEREMY MACLIN A BROWN?
CHECK THIS OUT..................................
http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/?p=8492
Is this some fancy editing/formatting from a fan trying to be funny or could this actually have happened?
Is there a employee upset with Mangini, his decisions, the firing of other employees, or something else that would prompt someone in house to post this?
I doubt it holds water but how intriguing would that be?
Crabtree is a stud but doesn't have the wheels that Maclin has and Maclin has some great hands as well.
Could Maclin be the 1st WR taken? Or is this rumor only if Crabtree goes in the Top 5.......
Thoughts?

COWBOYS
Owens and Roy Williams (SS) have been released.
Is ManKok interested? These are 2 needs the Browns have.
The list (on profootballtalk.com) is growing of teams who have said they do NOT want T.O. so maybe he would come cheap..
He may have a big mouth BUT at least he catches the ball.
Williams makes sense (if comes cheap) with the potential of losing Sean Jones, but everyone feels he may have lost a step.

BRAYLON trade rumors.....
Ok, does anyone beleive Mangini was actively shopping K2 since he arrived in Cleveland?
I have a feeling he has been shopping Mr Dropsy Edwards and when Tampa was called on about a trade they said "No thanks, but we wouldn't mind having K2"
Regardless, I think there is a solid chance both of Cleveland top offensive targets could be done in Cleveland soon.
I have heard rumors of the Giants wanting Braylon for Mathias Kiwanuka.
I am torn because I think it would be great to get Kiwi but can we afford to lose both of our top two recieving threats?

Phil Savage was (is) an idiot !
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/02/browns_analysis_as_draft_appro.html
Regardless of what we do with DA his cap number stays at 8 mill plus due to the structure of Savage's contract. The whole advantage of trading DA before March 1st was to not only avoid paying the 5 million bonus but to also better in a cap friendly way.
Even though there are many teams in need of a signal caller there are just as many QB's available via free agency.
I put our chances of trading DA before the March 1st bonus deadline at 0%. Once we pay that figure I assume SF, Carolina and NYJ will be calling because DA's salary for 09 is a measily 1.5 million.
Stupid Browns.

Sean Jones
What will new coach Eric Mangini do with Sean Jones?
Let him test the market? Franchise Tag him? Try to work out a long term deal?
Yes, he had a down year but I doubt he was 100% either. It would be nice to get to a point where our DB's are solid enough that Sean could roam around and be that atypical AFC North Safety.
Mike Adams is also a free agent. Brodney Poole has had his share of concussions so the secondary is not looking to solid at this point.
I assume Adams will resign for a reasonable amount and if Poole can stay on the field Adams would be a solid backup but what if Jones leaves? Is Adams and Poole good enough of a tandem to play safety in the NFL?
