Historic Chief/Texan Mock Draft
I wanted to do something a little different, and have some fun... so i propose a draft consisting of any drafted KC Chief/Dallas Texan...
The Rules:
*all players must have been drafted by either the Kansas City Chiefs or Dallas Texans...
*all players will be considered in their prime (draft age) and all players will apply to this coming years team...
*all players drafted will be drafted in their original draft positions...
*7 round draft with 3 college free agents coming from any draft position after that round...
*leave a short explanation of your pick...
Starting draft talk already?
Yes, I know the Chiefs are in mid-season, but i also love college football just as much. In other words, I couldn't help myself. For people like myself, there are a couple tools to help you along in your quest for the ultimate (Chiefs) draft.
First there is an SBNation website called "Mocking the Draft". It's a great website to get information on specific players. The other is a site some of you may have heard of, it's called drafttek.com. It has a fun little simulator that you can place values on team needs and run your own draft. That being said, the fun thing for me this year is that the Chiefs don't have glaring needs all over the place. We have rookies and veterans alike stepping up in places. So after the jump, I'll show you what I did in the simulator.

not really chiefs related... but its a great video of the late great walter payton running the wildcat in 1984...
early early early 2011 draft watch...
well this year we got some nice pieces in both the draft and free agency to improve our team... i know its really early for this but who do you think the chiefs will be looking this coming college season? assuming the chiefs will pick the top half of next years draft, this is who i think the chiefs may be looking at:
AJ Green WR Georgia 6'4" 207lbs - being called the next randy moss without the baggage... prototypical size and great hands... needs to work on his overall strength and route running...
Robert Quinn DE UNC 6'5" 260lbs - i figure for him to move to OLB in our 34... freakish athlete that can both cover and play the run... ranked among the nations top 10 in both sacks (10) and tackles for loss (15.5)... 3 time state wrestling champion... came back from a brain tumor diagnosed his senior year in high school... they do not get any tougher than this kid...
Gabe Carimi OT Wisconson 6'7" 325lbs
Joseph Barksdale OT LSU 6'5" 315lbs
LT in trouble yet again...
LT gets arrested for raping a 16 year old girl... how the great have fallen...
what about john jerry?
We all know that despite the recent OL acquisitions the chiefs are still in need of some inside help... wiegmann is probably in his last season or two in the NFL and lilja is coming off some injury problems... jerry has been playing LT, but is projected to be an elite RG in the nfl... i think that if we pick up jerry with 2b and walton with 3 we have at the very least replacements for wiegmann and waters...
