Video of the Day - Mike Singletary Likes This Party
Steven has been doing a great job of posting daily videos on the weekend, and we thought we'd extend it to a few during the week.
What better way to start than with my favorite Bear of all-time, Mike Singletary?
See more Mike Singletary fun after the video!!!
FanPost of the Week 4/13/12
Here at Windy City Gridiron, we have some of the best writers on the web producing countless numbers of articles daily, but we also have many great contributors that come from our readers.
It seems high time we start pointing some of them out.
This week's Fan Post of the week is Chicago Bears Draft Talk - Offensive Line Edition by awfullyquiet.
From Martin to Blake, Brown and Potter, I put together a list of some guys I'd like to see in a Bears uniform come May. Many of these guys won't crack the starting line up on Day 1, but as we've talked about ad nauseum for almost five months (or five years, if you want to get down to it), you have to start building good lines by adding quality depth.
Check it out if you haven't already.

This week's Fan Post of the week is Before They Were Bears by Silence_Dogood.
Nothing like more draft talk leading up to the Draft itself.
LaDainian Tomlinson, TCU
Verdict: Would have looked damned good in Navy Blue and Orange!
Great work, Doggood!

This week's Fan Post of the week is To Reiterate, "Pay the Man" by And_Ditka_Is_His_Prophet.
This whole Matt Forte deal is becoming quite divisive among writers and fans alike.
Pay the Man currently is running at 121 comments. Anytime, a Fan Post goes over 100 comments, it did something right.
I seem to remember multiple threads last season stating that "the Chicago Bears Offense Revolves Around Matt Forte" and we need to "pay the man" I still believe we should. It sends a signal to the rest of the team that when you produce you will be rewarded. He has done everything that he's been asked to do. He's an example you want other players to follow.
Get in on the conversation if you haven't already.

Here at Windy City Gridiron, we have some of the best writers on the web producing countless numbers of articles daily, but we also have many great contributors that come from our readers.
It was more of a news item, but anything that gets over a hundred comments, must be doing something right.
What it means for us Bears fans is instead of having to settle for a mid level replacement as our potential top target for our CannonCutler, instead we could get one of the better younger receivers in the game while hurting a potential NFC conference contender.
Good job, Cactus!
SB Nation Hits You Tube

This week's Fan Post of the week is The Chicago Bears Need a Ferrari by Just Dave.
We had a lot of interesting Fan Posts to choose from this week, but went with this if only for a David Terrell sighting and any Fan Post where the comments evolve into a Green Bay bashing session is a good one.
It's a conglomeration and is branched out into many venues. Last year you needed a new tractor/trailer so you went out and got yourself a good one. Unfortunately it got in an accident and spent some considerable time at the shop. So this year you and the CEO's are sitting down discussing your needs for the upcoming fiscal year and someone brings up the need for a new tractor/trailer. But wait, you think, aren't we getting that other new one back from the shop? Couldn't the business use something for picking up clients and entertaining potential investors? What you need is something impressive, something sporty. You need a Ferrari.

This week's Fan Post of the week is Assembling a physical offense in offseason by NigerianNightmare.
He should probably have earned this one for the sheer amount of images and videos he pulled together.
Nightmare gives his take on how to beef up the physical mentality of the Bears offense.
But taking a look at the offense, we lack that mentality. Sure, we have a few tough SOB's but we can kind of show our soft side against physical defenses like Kansas City, Seattle, Oakland and Denver. So I'm going to go through a run down and see how we can improve at each position, offensively.
Jump on in, if you haven't already. Great work!

This week ECD is doubling up. Not only did he have the two most active Fan Posts, but he is winner of Fan Post of the Week for the second straight week. This week's winner is Is a Trade for Brandon Marshall In the Works?
This one gets the nod because I think most of us are dreaming of a Marshall/Cutler reunion. It seems that a poll tally of 252 in favor versus 29 opposed backs that up.
And, it is true that this year includes both a FA market and a draft that is stacked with talent in the WR position. So, in that regard, Brandon Marshall may not be seen as "irreplaceable" to the Dolphins. Also, the Dolphins are what appears to be in rebuild mode, with a new coaching staff as well as front office which will make philosophical changes both on offense and defense.
Will a new contender lay claim to the throne or will we see ECD on top again next week?

This week's highlighted FanPost is Why Phil Emery Was the Right Choice For GM by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter
In this FanPost, Erik lays out why he thinks the Bears made the right call at GM.
One of the primary goals here at WCG, is to promote discussion. This FanPost topped 55 comments and if you based on the 136 out of 150 votes agreeing, it looks like most are on board.. If you haven't given it a read and put your two cents in, you should get in on the debate.
That's someone who we need running this situation, as when Jerry Angelo was running the show, everything seemed dysfunctional and unorganized. Being someone who happened to work at the U.S. Naval Academy deserves respect, to say the least. Also read from time to time that he was compared to Ted Thompson in regards to his work method and strategy. He will be more of a hands-on type GM in regards to the scouting process.
Great work, Erik! Keep them coming.

Could Schedule Dictate Bears Draft?
You are frequently hearing or reading about draft strategies. Do you draft best person at a position of need or the best player available period? I'd never considered that an upcoming schedule could affect the way a team drafts.
Exclusive: SB Nation Interviews Roger Goodell And Jeffrey Pash
There are some times that I feel a bit unequipped, unprepared, and possibly unworthy of what we do here. Today was one of those days. It was quite a surprise when I received an email letting us know that NFL League Commissioner Roger Goodell was making himself available for a "no holds barred" interview along with chief negotiator Jeffery Pash.
Yours truly did not get a chance to have his question addressed, but many other questions were and they ranged from to the current labor dispute to stadium concerns. Check back later today for a more complete coverage of the interview.

Mock Drafts Laugh in the Face of the Lockout
Football season or no football season, mock drafts will keep coming out until the day football is never played again.
Before you ignore another mock draft, John Mullin, wants to ensure you aren't discounting them.
Urlacher's Place in Bear's History
In last week's edition of Chalk Talk, Larry Meyer was asked where Brian Urlacher ranked among Bears' linebackers.

24 Hour extention agreed on by league and player's union
I've been trying to follow this ordeal and keep up with all the legal terms that are being thrown around like decertification and antitrust suits in preparation for tonight's deadline. The two parties though had other ideas as they have agreed on a 24 hour extension of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Chicago Bears Show Interest in Will Hill
The Bears, along with others, including the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, have shown interest in the University of Florida Safety, Will Hill.
The Bears safety situation can be described as in flux to say the least for the last number of years. The 6' 1", 207 pound Hill projects himself as a free safety.
Real Reason Behind Mike Tice's Extension?
Typically, I try to stay away from gossip and hearsay, but I am a sucker for a good conspiracy theory. The one part of Mike Tice's story that did stand out is the fact that Lovie Smith denied the Tennessee Titans an opportunity to speak to Tice about their open offensive coordinator position. There is a general unwritten rule that you allow your own coaches to interview with other teams if the job is for a position higher up the ladder. Coach Smith until now has always stuck to the rule, that is until Mike Tice. So, why would he start now. If you buy this opinion it is all because of Offensive Coach Mike Martz.
Chicago Bears Extend Mike Tice, 4 other coaches
The Chicago Bears are likely to have their quietest off season in the previous few years. This of course is under the assumption that they are not going to make a Jay Cutler or Julius Peppers size splash in free agency.
The Bears take a step to ensure that there is as little turnover as possible. They have announced the extension of offensive line coach Mike Tice for an additional year. The Bears had previously denied the Tennessee Titans the right to interview Tice for their offensive coordinator spot.
The Bears have also extended three other assistant coaches. Those are running backs coach Tim Spencer, linebackers coach Bob Babich and secondary coach Jon Hoke.
Chicago Bears Sign CFL Receiver Andy Fantuz
The Bears have signed Canadian Football League wide receiver, Andy Fantuz. He is signed to a reserve/future contact.
The 6-4, 220-pounder, who spent the last five seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, caught a career-high 87 passes for a league-leading 1,380 yards and six touchdowns in 2010.
Raid on Bear's Coaching Staff Continues
Following the Philadelphia Eagles interviewing Bears DB coach Jon Hoke, two Bears coaches are headed on to new jobs.
First, Special Teams assistant, Chris Tabor, is now the Special Teams Coach for the Cleveland Browns. This is no surprise. The Bears have had a top rated Special Teams for years. It only makes sense that somebody came knocking for anybody who worked with Dave Toub.
Matt Forte Looking for a Contact Extension
Bears running back Matt Forte had another split season. His performance was not great in the first half, in not small part due to the offensive line in front of him. As the line and offense for that matter gelled, he had a much better second half.
Forte will be entering the final year of his rookie contract and would like an extension.
