Denver Stiffs J.R. hurt, Chandler Explodes

Just a heads-up, J.R.'s been hurt in the 4th Quarter of his CBA season opener, was unable to walk off himself, sent to the hospital. Knee injury, looked serious. However, his line was 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists before getting injured.

All information coming from Jon Pastuszek's Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/#!/NiuBBall

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, J.R.'s team was losing by 36 points at the time of his injury, which is ridiculous.

In a pre-season game though, J.R. dropped a triple double: 33 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists.

Shout-out to "The_NGUYENNER" for having his FanShot up first: http://www.denverstiffs.com/2011/11/20/2576502/j-r-hurts-self-in-china-league-debut

I wanted to add in this little tidbit though, in happier news, our own Wilson Chandler dropped 43 and 22 in his game, but cramped up and had to be helped off the floor.

Denver Stiffs Report: Nuggets won't match Kleiza Offer Sheet

From Chris Tomasson's Twitter:

Agent Bill Duffy tells FanHouse Nuggets won't match four-year, $18.8 million offer sheet by Toronto on Linas Kleiza. Story in a few minutes. - http://twitter.com/christomasson/status/18664009246

I suppose it wasn't that big of a surprise at this point, but since we own Kleiza's Bird Rights, he was one of the best remaining Free Agents that we could've brought to Denver. Even if he's not really the greatest player out there, we only have the BAE left, so that restricts the players we can grab.

Personally, I'm fine with letting him walk. That's quite a bit more money and years than I think we should pay a guy like Kleiza, who we no longer really need, and our money is best spent elsewhere.

EDIT: Here's the link to the article: http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/16/nuggets-wont-match-offer-sheet-on-linas-kleiza/

Denver Stiffs Good bye to AC?

Just heard on the local news here in Hawaii that AC's agent has reached out to Miami to play with the "Dyna-three" and the Heat. Sadly, AC is probably one of the best basketball players to ever come out of Hawaii (although we can all agree that he was at least somewhat decent at points during his career), and he was great during college (career leader in assists, one of only 10 players to surpass 1000 points), so he's pretty big news here.

I can't say we really needed him, but he has been here for like 3 years, and has always given his all, so it's sad to see him go. All things must move on though.

Denver Stiffs PASPN Fantasy Basketball League

I assume some of you may have heard about it, but I haven't seen a thread up here.

How many of you know about it, and how many would consider joining a league and being active? I'm thinking about starting one, and can think of no better place. :)

http://paspn.net/default.asp?p=90&gmaction=41

Do you think you have what it takes to be a real NBA GM or an NBA Agent? Are you looking for a different basketball experience? If so then welcome to PASPN.net's Offseason and Real-time Fantasy Basketball game, the first fantasy basketball experience governed by the rules of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

During the offseason play, your goal as an NBA GM is to re-tool your team for the up and coming NBA Fantasy Regular season. As an NBA Agent, your goal is to make sure your clients needs are being answered whether they are a free agent and in need of a new contract or looking to get bought out of their existing contract.

During regular season play, NBA GMs compete head-to-head in an NBA-like 18-week schedule declaring an 8-man rotation throughout the game week. NBA Agents compete for points to see who has the best set of clients.
Basically, you can become either a GM or an Agent.

If you're a GM, you take a team's existing real life roster and are able to do whatever you want with it. Work out trades with other GMs, and, when the time comes, work through free agency, signing free agents, re-signing your own free agents, get into a bidding war, etc...all while working around the salary cap. You also have the same draft spots that your team does in real life (you actually get to draft though, so you can choose who you draft). Just like real life. From there, once the season starts it becomes like regular fantasy basketball, each week you go head-to-head with another team, and duke it out like in a fantasy league.

If you're an agent, you basically represent all the free agents. You get to choose which team your client goes to, how much money they get, etc. And you get scored based on how well you do compared to the other agents in the league (you can only claim a set amount of players as clients).

In my opinion...

Pros:
- It's a new kind of fantasy league, it's just like being a real life GM.
- You can choose your team and actually deal with the players (so if you have a favorite team...etc)
- It still has the elements of a regular fantasy league
- 30 teams = 30 GMs = An amazing league if everyone is active.

Cons:
- Starting off with real life rosters can suck for some teams (like the guys who get the T-Wolves or Clippers tongue)
- It might be considered a lot of work for some people.

- Gets boring quick if people aren't REALLY active.

- There can be only 1 Nuggets GM. :P

That's just quickly some of the pros and cons.

Denver Stiffs Help me out here Stiffs...

I just got to Denver...first time ever in Colorado, so I'm pretty stoked. I'm here to look at colleges, but I have plenty of free time as well. I'm at a hotel about 15 minutes from the city, so its not too bad. Help me out here, where are the best places to eat, some fun/interesting places to go, and, most importantly, the best places to buy Nuggets gear? ;) Thanks guys.

Denver Stiffs Taking objection with Jemele Hill

And I don't mean in a good way. Let's take a look at some of her recent tweets after our Nuggets loss tonight:

"RT @vgoodwill: Denver's loss to Utah looked eerily similar to DET's loss in conference finals with Billups at point." - (http://www.twitter.com/jemelehill/status/13172723927)

"Billups is 1 of the best PGs. AI was a bad fit, but DET had gone as far as they could go w/ Billups. Not as strong of a leader as ppl think" - (http://www.twitter.com/jemelehill/status/13172546072)

"co-sign RT @bomani_jones: @jemelehill chauncey's so overrated in that regard. he was there when the pistons laid down every yr from '06-08." - (http://www.twitter.com/jemelehill/status/13172049994)

"#forrealtho RT @MrFuriousStylez: @jemelehill Just in the regular season. Pistons fans know all to well about that." - (http://www.twitter.com/jemelehill/status/13171863684)

"Thought Chauncey Billups' presence was supposed to prevent DEN from turning into their own worst enemy" - (http://www.twitter.com/jemelehill/status/13171863684)

Granted, she's not bashing him as a person, but to call him out as a leader and a player when he had to deal with an inept coach, various team drama, media influence, and DAVID STERN, this was uncalled for. Especially when it definitely was not only his fault that we lost this season.

Denver Stiffs This one's a keeper, without a doubt...

Arron Afflalo. Starting Shooting Guard for our Denver Nuggets.

He just tweeted this:

"Trust in god never waivers ... Everything happens for a reason .... Learn from defeat and learn how to win .... A better arron awaits" - Arron Afflalo (http://twitter.com/AAA_afflalo/status/13173959111)

Let me put it this way, this is not a tweet you see from J.R. Smith's Twitter account. AAA needs to be signed long-term, and we just need to pray that he REALLY is this humble guy. We all know that money can ruin a player, a career, and a team.

Denver Stiffs April 20-21: Non-Nuggets Playoff Thread

Celtics vs. Heat (game in Boston; Celtics hold 1-0 series lead)

Suns vs. Blazers (game in Phoenix; Blazers hold 1-0 series lead)

Lakers vs. Thunder (game in Los Angeles; Lakers hold 1-0 series lead)

---

April 21st:

Magic vs. Bobcats (game in Orlando; Magic hold 1-0 series lead)

Mavericks vs. Spurs (game in Dallas; Mavericks hold 1-0 series lead)
