Blogging The Boys The Great T.O. Debate Thread

Alright, boys. I don't mean to clog this site with crappy posts, but it seems like this one is just a necessity. Like the Romo Thread, this should (hopefully) alleviate most of the T.O. banter on other threads...especially the ones that have nothing do with T.O. or Romo but always seem to make their way back to them. Topics should include Cut Him vs. Keep Him, His Role in the Offense (or lack thereof), His Place Among the NFL's Elite, His Unquestionable Work Ethic, His Unquestionable Knack for Media Attention, and anything else your little hearts desire. Far be it from you to limit you all. Have fun!!!

By the way, I say KEEP him, throw him drags over the middle, he's top 10 but obviously waning, I hear he's good at sit-ups, Ed Werder has a crush on him, and I like his t-shirts...

Blogging The Boys I gotta say, I'm a little shocked...

Last night, I'm making grilled cheese for dinner and I overhear Mike Shanahan being fired by the Broncos. My first reaction is WHAT THE HELL??? That's retarded, but then I hop on NOT espn.com to find out why. Among other things, his owner wanted him to find a new defensive coordinator and Shanahan refused. Now it's obvious that if he wanted to, he could be the coach of a team, no problem...

Now I'm shocked that when I wake up this morning, there aren't 74 posts on this blog calling for Jerry to bring him in for, at the very least, an interview - especially with the amount of people calling for Wade's head. Let me be the first...

Now I've never been one that calls for Wade to get the hell out of town. Like someone said before, I'd love to have a beer and a plate of nachos with him (although I doubt I'd get any with him at the table haha, cheap shot, I know). Now this post is only to spark discussion, but isn't this something to consider? Shanahan LOVES Romo. They offered him more money to go to Denver, but Tony chose Dallas (good boy!). And Shanahan, GOD FORBID, stood up to his owner!!! I've always liked the guy, and I think he's a hell of a coach, as well as a great guy for personnel decisions. But what do you all think? He'd come relatively cheap. That's always a plus. He and that Elway dude won a pair of rings. That's gotta be good for Romo's development. If, and that's a BIG if, Wade would move to DC (I know he and Shanny have history), wouldn't that be a VERY solid coaching staff? Jerry came out and said that big name coaches with previous experience don't always pan out (see Tuna), but why not give it a whirl?

Yes? No? Maybe? What do you guys think???

Blogging The Boys My bandwagon just got reeeally lonely...

And I wouldn't have it any other way. I've read all the posts on this board, and usually I'm quick to comment, but I haven't really touched it. Everybody's saying Fire Wade! Fire Redball! Trade Romo and Barber!!!

...really?!?! You want to trade the two best players we have on offense? And maybe Wade isn't the greatest head coach in the world, but since he took over the defense, they've been playing like dudes possessed. So we lost a game that most of us said was the one we could afford (if any) to lose. Romo got owned by the number one defense in the league. We won 80% of this game. Our defense was nothing short of dominant. And while our offense reeked of inconsistency, they were doing enough to win. We said first to ten wins (I said first to 17 which proved true...). But STILL. I understand this is a tough tough TOUGH loss to swallow, but it happens. That's life. Yeah this would've been a hell of a win, but it wasn't in the cards. We turned the ball over 5 times to the best D in the league and we came within an hair of winning. Some of you guys are SO quick to trash this team and say screw it, I can't wait til next year. That's fine with me. Break your legs jerking your knees so hard. If you're that sort of fair- weather fan, than cry me a freakin' Mississippi. Go root for the Texans. Support your friggin team. Through thick and thin. And yeah, things are pretty nasty right now, but in case ya'll didn't notice, we're in the playoffs right now. We have the biggest game of the season this week vs. the VaGiants and they looked woeful too against the Eagles. And I want to do nothing short of BUST THEIR *SSES!!! Brandon Jacobs may be out with a knee injury. Their receivers dropped everything thrown near them, and their defense is nothing like the one we just played. Take your heads out of your backsides, change your diapers, and wash your jerseys. Come back ready to play (I'm talking to the players now, btw) and protect your house. Piss and moan all you want today, but get it together and let's get a HUGE win. Antonio had a stinker, it happens. But how many times has he crapped the bed two weeks in a row? If we completely fall off this month and miss the playoffs, I'll eat crow. That's fine. But at least I have the testicular fortitude to stand by my Boys when the deck is stacked against us. Do you?

Blogging The Boys Mobile Postings

I guess I should direct this to Brandon, Tuna, and/or Grizz, but I was on my phone trying to get on BTB and it said the site can't yet handle postings from a mobile device. I was wondering if this is a problem with my phone or if it's just not supported by SB Nation. Does anybody else have this problem with Blackberries or iPhones or whatever device you have? Just wondering. Can't get enough of this place...Thanks a lot.

Blogging The Boys Yeah, Greg Ellis!

Haven't seen the article on here, so I figured I'd post the link. Nothing earth-shattering, but I like the new attitude. Ellis may not prove it on the field, but he's certainly an elder statesman in the locker room. We certainly can't (or shouldn't) knock his leadership. For everyone who keeps comparing us to last year's Giants, this is definitely a time where we'll step up and get some wins (even the ones people don't expect us to). Hell, we have to if we want to get to the playoffs. The way it's looking, I think we not only get in, but finally win that elusive first round game. KNOCK ON WOOD! Then we'll have Arizona or the VaGiants, but I'd LOVE a rematch with Arizona before we head to NY. I may be counting my chickens, but what can I say...

Blogging The Boys Hopefully, not just a Once-in-a-Lifetime Thing

Let me preface my post with an apology for taking so long to get on BTB to express my utter exuberence for Sunday Night's victory. I took off work Monday, which is when I do most of my blogging, to sit on my couch and do nothing but relive (through NFL Network) and recover. But I wanted to get on and recap what turned into the GREATEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!! This may be long-winded and not too analytical, but hopefully you'll be entertained when you 5 minutes to relieve some boredum...

12:01AM, Late Saturday Night becomes Sunday Morning: I look at my Redskin-loving girlfriend and tell her "It's officially game day. That means I hate you now." I kick her out of my bed when I discover she tried to climb in with a Clinton Portis jersey on...

9:38 AM, I wake up after an awful night of sleep. I was too nervous. A nightmare of Romo re-injuring himself kept in a cold sweat...I walk to the end of my driveway to get my dumpsters in Bud Light pajama pants and my trusted and battle-tested DeMarcus Ware jersey. A car drives by honking and yelling. I'm guessing it was a Redskins fan. I live right next to Highway 32, and I decide the best thing to do is climb on the Jersey Wall and scream Go Cowboys! at passer-bys. A few people honk and curse. Ahhh, Gameday! Shower, breakfast, pregame with my Giants-fan roommate. I listen to him brag about Brandon Jacobs and how he's going to torch the Ravens...Ugh...

1:00: Kickoff. I get sick to my stomach watching the VaGiants take care of business. Hate to say it, but they showed the Ravens the right side of a back-hand. They're going to be TOUGH to beat. I'll Fast forward...

4:45: We arrive at FedEx. I'm bouncing around in the car like a 5 year old. We're trying to turn into a lot when a Skins fan almost plows into our car. Before I could cuss him out, my mom rolls down the window and flips him the bird. Both hands none-the-less. I can tell it's gonna be a good night...

4:55-7:30: Bud Lights go down the hatch...The walk to the stadium goes just how I'd expect it. We pass by tailgaters screaming obscenities at us. I laugh it off and don't return any comments. That is, until somebody tells me to go back to my house in Dallas. I tell him I would, but we're coming to take over their house tonight. This apparently offends about 30 people, because they suddenly look PISSED. Mission accomplished haha.

7:30 til kickoff: I go field level to scream at my Boys. T.O. gets a rousing ovation from the 9 or 10 fans near me, however the thousands of Skins fan drown us out. Even the Geico caveman on the sideline boo's him. Screw Geico...We make our hike up to the nose-bleeds, surrounded by Skins fans and their stupid white towels. I wouldn't have it any other way. I brought a black towel in protest. I think it was a good idea but it went unnoticed with the 50,000 white ones around me.

The game was absolutely amazing. The quick touchdown made me a little uneasy, but I'm glad that was the only one we gave up. I constantly dealt w/ the a-holes talking smack and let me tell you something, they're freaking DUMB!!! There was one guy behind me who I swear, did not know the right time to cheer. He booed a penalty on us and got pissed when they converted a third and long because they "didn't run the right play..."

Other than, my impressions of my first Cowboys game was about 6 million times better than one I thought they'd be. Let me tell you, my eyes have never seen anything more beautiful than the sea of burgandy and gold pouring out of the stadium with four minutes to go. It was a thing of beauty, let me tell you. I know nobody wants to save that we beat the Skins so our season is saved, but it sure as hell isn't over yet! Romo wasn't on point, as expected, but you could tell his energy invigorated the troops. Even MB3 was going nuts after he picked up that 4th and 2. SO CRUCIAL!!! The O-line looked good, er, scratch that. The line looked BETTER! The D played great. It's awesome seeing T-New performing once again. That Moss drop late in the game just sealed my wonderful evening. The Skins thought they had a prayer, but no dice, grandma. I have a good feeling about the home stretch of the season. Let's get two more wins against NFC teams, sit at 8-4 and hopefully 2nd place in the division, then work our way to 11-5. Guys, I'm truly jealous that some of you can sit at Texas Stadium and watch our Boys play. But let me tell you, going to FedEx and beating the Skins is one night that I will never ever forget...
