I think this is going to happen. As it stands now the Leafs are spending 19 million on their top 4:

Dion Phaneuf: 6.5

Mike Komisarek: 4.5

Tomas Kaberle: 4.25

Francois Beauchemin: 3.8

Factor in Jeff Finger's 3 mil, and that's a lot of money invested in the blue line.

As someone pointed out, we just traded 40% of our scoring away, with Fredrik Sjostrom, Rickard Wallin, John Mitchell, and a call-up replacing Niklas Hagman, Matt Stajan, Jason Blake, and Jamal Mayers; I can't see that as anything other than a net-loss in potential goal scoring.

With Phaneuf an offensive threat and Carl Gunnarson quietly having a decent rookie season points-wise, plus the trading of two picks away for Kessel, moving Kaberle makes sense. And if he doesn't want to be traded god knows where in the summer, he's already given Burke his list of favored trade destinations.

Matt Gilroy's nifty pass helps tie the game for Boston University, who were down 3 -1 in the final minute of play. They won in overtime.

First the Hobey Baker award for best college hockey player, then the assist that ties the game with 17 seconds to go. Pay Matt Gilroy what he wants, we have nothing to lose. Only problem might be an unwillingness on Burke's part to offer a one-way deal, but who knows?

Well, it's 3am and I just got home. First thing I did was do a news search for Tyler Bozak, and as of 1 hour ago Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Bozak has chosen to join the Leafs. Just thought I'd break the news for the early birds! 

I was wondering about this all night, but no-one new if he had signed and I couldn't get online at work. Hope it's true. Even if these guys (Hanson, Bozak...Gilroy) don't pan out, it's cool to see management going hard after these guys, and to know that these guys like what they're hearing.
