In Bed With Maradona, a site which is generally a must-read, and on which our very own Arron Duckling has previously been published, have released their 2013 review of their 100 brightest young stars, and a couple of Barca players are involved: Neymar and Cristian Tello . Some reviews that might also be of interest to cules include: Marc-Andre ter Stegen ; Thiago Alcantara ; and Marquinhos . Enjoy!

How much are shirt sales really worth?

A recent discussion (and many previous discussions) brought up the idea that Chelsea buying a hugely popular player like Neymar or Hulk could end up being a "bargain" no matter the price of the...

NexGen Series groups drawn

The draw for the NextGen Series, which is basically a U-19 Champions League, has put us in a group with Molde, CSKA Moscow, and Ajax, who reached the final last year (and knocked out the La Masia kids on the way). Yet another competition for the Baby Blues next season - keep an eye out for the kids!

The FCF's England Reject XI

Turns out it's better than the squad going to Poland/Ukraine* *Except the defence

Zonal Marking concludes Didier Drogba is a beast in the air

Tall, good at jumping and good heading technique. Although we already knew that.

All the wrong calls in the Prem this season

(Up to Dec 14th) We've had 5 bad calls to our benefit, and 8 to our detriment. Stoke have benefited the most a whopping 15 for/5 against. Our good friends QPR aren't far behind with 8 for/2 against and would be rock bottom if all the calls went the right way. Tinfoil hat time, I say!

José Bosingwa "retires" from international football

Regardless of your opinion of Bosingwa, this is good news for Chelsea, as now there's no risk of him getting injured with the Portugal squad. Until Bento gets sacked, that is.

A breakdown of the Battersea / Nine Elms site(s)

This detailed map (PDF) shows all the sites in the "opportunity area" that are being considered for development in the location we're looking to build a stadium. My guess is by "just east of Battersea" (Green/Teal), Gourlay means Nine Elms (Pink/Yellow).

Comparison of ticket prices for London clubs It isn't viable for Chelsea to keep the current prices, let alone jack them up if the club stays at Stamford Bridge. A move is necessary to both increase matchday revenue, and give the fans cheaper tickets, at least for games against the 'lesser' clubs.

Becoming Barça, English-style

A very interesting read on how Ferguson is creating an English Barcelona by going in the opposite tactical direction.

Zonal Marking's analysis of the Valencia match

Basically, Pep played a lopsided 4-3-3 / 3-4-3 hybrid in the first half, with Alves alone on the right flank, trying to simultaneously play the three roles of right back, right midfielder and right winger, all the while being marked, and exposed, by the two opposing left backs.

The official Romelu Lukaku song. Interesting.

Juan Mata already has his own song

A cover of the Joe Dolce "classic" (read: one hit wonder) Shaddup You Face. 10 points if you can spot the pun.

Cesc's acquisition and its tactical consequences

This is a very interesting article suggesting that we won't need to replace Puyol with a centre-back but rather a defensive midfielder (Busquets) to permanently partner Pique. We will begin to see the defense play more and more like a midfield, thus possibly seeing unprecedented levels of possession (~80%?). It focuses on versatility rather than being the very best at a specific job in a specific position. Yes, it's from goal.com and very much speculation, but it's thought-provoking nonetheless. It begs the question however, wouldn't this encourage opposition to park the bus?
