Trade Jair, Vasquez, and Lowe! Offense the worst in Braves HISTORY!

Long time Braves fan here from NYC, and I might be exagerating when I say trade those guys but I feel bad for our pitchers. These guys are pitching there brains out and are getting no results other then a L. Weither it be 7 innings of shut out baseball, our pitchers are getting the worse end of it. JJ, Vasquez, and Lowe deserve better treatment. On a good team Vasquez would of had at least 10 wins or more. Same goes for JJ and Lowe. Yes, they;ve had there moments but whats the point, they were going to lose anyways.

The Braves offenses has to be the worst offense in the history of the Braves organization. It's just pitifull watching everyday. Doesnt pitching win games? Not in this case. Hitting does if you ask me. The Phillies were 1-8 on there homestand, lol, and the Braves couldnt make up ground? We actually lost ground during that week. Now were looking at the Nationals becuase thats the only team we are better then. ITS A LOST SEASON! Sorry

Griffey to decide between M's and Braves by Monday or Tuesday

Multiple sources have indicated that free-agent slugger Ken Griffey Jr. will decide between the Mariners and Atlanta Braves either by today or early Tuesday at the latest.

The Braves are said to have no more than $2.5 million in total compensation to offer the 39-year-old, with base salary likely to be less than $2 million. But the Braves do offer Griffey the possibility of seeing his daughter play basketball in Atlanta while his son will be starting high-school football just an hour's flight away in Orlando, Fla., where Griffey has a home.

It seems Griffey will play in Atlanta. For one, he doesnt need the money and at this point in his career, family is probablity more important. He's 20 minutes away from Spring Training in Orlando and the Braves have a better chance of making the playoffs then the M's.

Hampton leaves Astros for treatment

Let the fun begin! Astros left-hander Mike Hampton is returning to Houston to get treatment for an irregular heartbeat.

Hampton was to be examined Monday by team physician Dr. Jim Muntz and will undergo a procedure that corrects his heartbeat with an electrical current.

The condition was discovered during an EKG test Saturday that was part of the routine physical for Astros pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training.

The Astros say the irregularity was minor and they hope to have Hampton back in camp Thursday.

For those that wanted Hampton to re-sign with te Braves, how do you say now? Way a go Frank!

Outfield Options

Now that Abreu has signed with the Angels and Adam has signed with the lowly Nats, it seems the Braves have little options in getting there LF. The only players that are out there are Ken Griffey, Jim Edmonds, Luis Gonzalez, and Garret Anderson. None of these options are appealing but lets see if any of these players can really help the Braves. Lets break them down:

Ken Griffey, 40, has been hurt since going to the Reds. Showed a little life last year but looks like he's heading back home to Seattle. Batted .245 with the Reds and .260 with the WS. Thanks but no Thanks!

Jim Edmonds! This can be very interesting. Jim, 38, can be a one year bridge for Shafer. Batted .256 19HRS and 45rbi's in 250 at-bats with the Cubs. Is still solid in CF and still has a little pop. Stick him between Jeff and Kotch and you may get a balanced lineup. May be looking for a one-year deal with incentives.

Nick Swisher, 27, batted .219 in 153 games last year with the Sox's. Yes he's still young and is a switch hitter but too expensive, doesnt hit for average(.244 career BA, but averages 28hrs a season) doesnt solve our 4th hole problem. $5.3 mil next year, $6.75 in 2010, $9mil in 2011 and $10.25mil team option in 2012. Worse comes to worse, I wouldnt mind taking him.

Garret Anderson, 36, career .296 hitter, decent OBP 325 last year and a solid defender. Good guy in the club house, a veteran, and a great teammate. Has been averaing about 81 rbi's the last few years and has been hitting around 17hrs and batting .280. Obviously past his prime but can be a decent pickup.

Luis Gonzalez,40, 3 teams in 3 years. Played in 136 games last year with the Marlins and his power is declining fast. Only 8hrs, 47rbi's and batted .260. At best, a 4th outfielder.

Summary: If I had to pick, i would sign Edmonds to a one-year $4million deal and trade for Swisher, what do you think??

Andrew to the Rangers, Ohman gone, Will Glavine accept the offer? What does this mean?

The NY Post reported that Andrew Jones will sign with an already crowded outfield Texas Rangers team to a minor league deal worth $500k. Good Luck in Texas! Will Ohman had an offer on the table from the Braves since the beginning of the winter meetings and that offer is now off! Tom Glavine was offered a contract some where in the neighborhhod of $1-2million dollars, will Glavine accept that offer is TBD. I have a sense the Braves are going to make a move for an OF before Spring Training begins next week. Jones not offered a contract, Glavine offered $1mil, Ohman deal off the table. What do you think? Are the Braves saving money to go after that Bat? let me Know what you think!

Yes Glavine went to Dr. Andrews and got the ok the his arm is fine and yes he will be ready for Spring Training. We all know that the Braves have only $8 million to spend on Glavine and an outfielder.

The Braves have more then enough pitchers to plug into the 5 hole. We have alot of options with pitchers such as Jo-Jo, Morton, Hanson, Campillo etc.. Do we really need to sign Glavine for 3.5 million plus incentives? That cuts into our budget of $8 million into $4.5 million. Yes the market is dropping but you still wont sign Dunn for $4.5 million a year, maybe $5 but Glavine is not talking $3million. I say let the inexperience pitchers battle it out for the last spot and give Dunn $6 million a year and give Ohman $2 mii a year.

What do you think?

According to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, the Dodgers are expected to officialy release Andruw Jones Thursday morning.

Jones, you'll remember, agreed to defer the $21.1MM remaining on his contract back in early January to open up payroll for the Dodgers, and for a chance at a fresh start with a new team. The Dodgers have reportedly discussed a few potential trades this week, but all talks have apparently fallen flat. He has expressed interest in returning to the Braves.

Burnett's Next Team has to be driving distance from Baltimore!

Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has the latest on A.J. Burnett. The Braves will hold off on other moves for starting pitching until they hear from A.J. Burnett's agent Darek Braunecker about their offer (said to be five years, $75MM if the fifth-year option vests).

Braunecker says he has numerous offers, though Burnett's next team will have to be within driving distance of his suburban Baltimore home. Jon Heyman says Burnett has multiple four-year offers and one five-year one. Braunecker says the Blue Jays aren't out of it, despite J.P. Ricciardi's comment, "It looks like we're going to lose Burnett."

YANKEES PREPARE A.J. OFFER

The Yankees, according to several industry insiders, spent yesterday preparing an offer - perhaps a five-year deal worth about $80 million - for Toronto righty A.J. Burnett. This would come after they offered Milwaukee lefty CC Sabathia a six-year contract worth between $140 million and $145 million.

And the word on the MLB street is the Yankees have the glue for both. Furthermore, baseball decision-makers believe the Yankees will eventually go after Dodger free-agent righty Derek Lowe.

GM Brian Cashman and Darek Brauneker, Burnett's agent, didn't return calls yesterday.

"It wouldn't surprise me if they went to five years with [Burnett]," a baseball executive said of the Yankees. "[Ryan] Dempster is going to sign back with the Cubs for four years and $13 million per, and Burnett is worth more than that."

I said it and I will say it again, WE NEED TO GIVE HIM HIS FIFTH YEAR AND WRAP THIS THING UP ASAP BEFORE THE YANKEES GET INVOULVED, what do you think?

The Orioles may end up as a third team in a three-way deal that would send Padres right-hander Jake Peavy to the Cubs, according to a report in the Baltimore Sun.

The paper reported that the Orioles have started up trade talks again with the Cubs about outfielder Felix Pie, who -- with Baltimore second baseman Brian Roberts -- was part of a rumored deal discussed between the two teams last offseason.

Sources told the Sun that Chicago would like a young pitcher in return for Pie, which could lead to the Orioles sending starter Garrett Olson to the Cubs, who would then trade the lefty to the Padres as part of a deal to land Peavy.

Braves Need to move in on this really fast! What do you think?
