A little regular season action for your enjoyment on the mother-ship. First a home game vs. those dirty snitches on April 14th, then a road game vs. Florida on April 23.
Lets also hope we enjoy a Championship Sunday for the SEC tourney for more TV exposure.
NCAA Mandates New Standard For Composite Bats Starting In The 2011 Season

In September of 2008 a major change to College Baseball came with a simple two-page letter to all baseball bat manufacturers. Those creating the bats would “…replace the Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) with the Ball-Bat Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) as the means for measuring bat performance in testing.” [Letter to Bat Manufacturers; NCAA Clearinghouse; Sept 17, 2008] While citing the increase of runs scored and home runs in games, the NCAA were interested increasing safety of those in the field from potentially damaging line drives which could seriously hurt infielders.

A new era is beginning in College Baseball, all in the name of safety. While hitters may not care for the change, the effect should be pitching will finally catch up with the hitting in college baseball.
This may be a blessing in disguise for the Crimson Tide baseball team as many of their quality hitting lineup left/graduated last year. I fully expect a statistically better year for Kilcrease and the rest of the pitching staff.
