Selanne's back mofo's... eat it Rudy
not much explaining i gotta do here... the homeboy of the anaheim ducks will be back another year according to this nice video courtesy of the Ducks' media guys : http://video.ducks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=123157... it's hockey season baby!!!!!! Can't wait for Teemu to visit the Peg' and Helsinki... Gonna be a nice farewell tour for this living legend! I'm gonna get goosebumps watching him play again in Winnipeg and if the Ducks win the Cup then it'll be even better!
Pence Update
Just so everybody knows about the Pence situation: "Sources: #Phillies making progress on Pence. Talks coming to a head. Story with @jonmorosi. http://t.co/iBeqU4c #tradedeadline #MLB"... from Ken Rosenthal...
According to the ESPN rumor mill and Rosenthal's reports, the Braves have placed restrictions on their top pitching prospects and the Astros would want another hitting prospect. If this is true, Wren may be willing to move Lipka, but he seems hesitant to move Minor, Vicaino, or Delgado. In conclusion, the report says that the Phillies have the lead on Pence and the Braves are the second option. So it's basically Wren sitting on his hands and watching the Phillies. This is really frustrating as all we can do is wait and see for what our division rivals do...
I guess all we can do is pray that the Astros demand too much from the Phillies' farm system.
Draft and the Braves Philosophy about Slot
Okay I'll be honest here, I don't know much about how the MLB draft works. Since I'm an NFL and NHL draft freak, it was interesting to take a look at how the MLB Draft works.
The Braves, I hear, are very committed to usually not bust slot. I was wondering what makes Frank Wren and the owners to be so cheap about their money. The Braves aren't what you would call a "small market" team, but less fans seem to flock to Turner Field these days. However, since we don't have access to their financial records I can't make any assumptions. Lots of mock drafts have the Braves taking a high school or college pitcher that won't demand too much cash. So what do you think the Braves will do this year? Follow their old rules or actually draft a player with power. The system seems to be loaded with pitching and solid positional players with average power and good defense. Hopefully, Wren pays for a player that can really contribute to the team.
Ah The Beautiful Internet
This is something I noticed about Mike Brown's recent drafts and selections. Another member of the Cincy Jungle community reminded me of this on a story about who really made the Andy Dalton pick (sorry about forgetting your username).
In 09, Mike Brown took offensive tackle Andre Smith from Alabama. That year the Bengals were in desperate need of a protector for Carson's blind side and most mock drafts all over the internet had the bengals taking him. Then in '10, we take Gresham, another consensus pick in most mock drafts. To be honest I think Mike Brown was really his usual clueless self during those drafts, but the fact that Dalton won over Mallet with support from the coaching staff shows us that maybe Brown is starting to open his ears to other opinions. Because ya know, to Mike Brown, his word is law. I was scared like hell when I saw Adam Schefter's tweet but thank goodness Brown took some good advice.
If this team plays well in a few years, which is not a stretch with all the key pieces they have in place, Brown maybe may have no major need soon. So when that happens, we'll really see if Mike Brown uses the internet to make his draft picks.
Murray= Collosal Idiot
First off I hear that ya'll don't know much about our prospects eh? Well Jake Gardiner was one of our better D prospects not in the NHL. With the emergence of Sbisa and Fowler I understand why Murray would want to trade him but to include him in a deal for a turnover prone and stupid decision making d-man is inexcusable. This is exactly like the Ryan Whitney trade a few years ago except this time Murray can't fix the mistake by acquiring Lubo again. Gardiner was a smooth skating offensive dynamo at Wisconsin and is a plus 23 with 30 points in 30 games. At least Murray should have asked Burkie for a prospect like Nazem Kadri or Keith Aulie. This may be a good move now but don't be bitching when Gardiner is racking points up in Toronto and Francois is cooking at some French ass restaurant. Francois may play better now but this was horrible, horrible asset management by an idiot who is the Ducks GM because Brian Burke knew he could eventually rip him off... Cheers

Stream Alert Aka Fuck Homeland Security
Just checked the streams I use to watch free Ducks games and apparently Homeland Security and some shitty Intellectual Property Protection Department has seized most of the sites with great streams. So any of you Duck, King, Sharks fans looking for a good stream basically we're fucked. I guess we could still listen on the radio but something about the way they did this was really dicky.... Ah well, guess that's one more reason to hate the government. Anyone find a new website be sure to make a fanpost notifying the community here. :)

Other Options
Okay, so since the consensus around Cincy Jungle and among draft experts are that we will not draft a QB in the first round, what are the other options? Well there might be more than people think:
Draft:
Andy Dalton, Greg McElroy...... I wouldn't mind spending a second or third on either of these guys since it would be nice for Carson to mentor a young rookie. Both of these players are proven winners at any level but due to their lack of arm strength are rated lower than say a Mallet or Locker. Dalton has excellent mobility and could become a Ryan Fitzpatrick-Drew Brees type quarterback. I think it all depends on what kind of offense the new OC will bring to the team.
NFL Teams:
Trading for Matt Flynn or Kevin Kolb could be possible as well. If Carson wants out no matter what, then either of these two guys could start without any learning time. Flynn will probably never get a chance behind Rodgers and his decision making and mobility are added bonuses. Neither of these guys have big arms but could fit well like Kyle Orton did in Denver if given the right system.
In conclusion I think that if we do not draft a QB high than taking Dalton in the second and trading a third and a sixth rounder for Flynn would be wise. Then Brown should just flat out cut Palmer, though since he is a penny pinching bastard I doubt it will happen. At least Flynn or Kolb are options since Brown isn't afraid of making trades for low-risk players.
WE NEED A QB!!!
First of all I think that we can all agree that Carson and Jordan are both not that good no matter how they were in the past or at the collegiate level. Carson wants out and if Mike Brown is stupid enough to hold onto him then Carson would become the new cancer in the locker room just like Ocho and Owens have been this past year. Bottom line is that YOU NEED A FRANCHISE QB TO WIN IN THE NFL. PERIOD. Looking at the draft it seems like a bunch of QB's with a crapload of question marks surrounding them. Newton is way too much of a risk since he played in a gimmicky offense and it would take too long to develop him. Mallett has an arm but has horrible decision making and can't move around for his life. I'd rather let the Cardinals or Minnesota take Mallett. Gabbert is the second coming of Vince Young or Akilli Smith and also played in a gimmicky offense with worse stats than Chase Daniel who is now a back-up on the Saints. Locker obviously has accuracy issues but the reason I think we will and should take him is that he may be the safest bet out of all the QBs with the right situation. Let me explain....
I ain't no stat genius and I won't bore you with numbers that usually don't mean much once a player steps onto an NFL field on Sunday. Jake Locker played for four years at the University of Washington with a horrible team. Let me reemphasize that: A HORRIBLE TEAM.... Perhaps one of the worst in the Pac-10 but he somehow still managed to beat my team USC for 2 years in a row, that doesn't mean much, but the reason why I think we'll take him is the fact that our coaching staff has been working with him all week and likes what they see. Sure he has some accuracy issues and pocket awareness issues, but those are things that can be handled over time. And Locker may feel comfortable if he comes here since he already worked with us during the Senior Bowl. He also has the physical tools and intangibles you want in a QB: big build, terrific arm strength, mobility, great leadership, etc. Think of the offense we could create around him if we hired a Brad Childress or Josh McDaniels? (who is with the Rams dammit). I'm not saying we should take him with the fourth pick, but we still need him to have any type of success next year. I'm sure Mike Brown will bring in a veteran to be a stopgap if Locker isn't ready out of the gate and I'm also sure Bob won't be back next season. Brown never trades up but he could trade down to 10-12 and nab a franchise QB. And it may be a huge hint that we are strongly considering taking him when our QB coach heaps that much praise on a propsect who was slated to be the number one pick last year
Komisarek
Hey yo, question from a Ducks fan here.... BTW thanks for making us lose to you assholes... Just kidding, but seriously, I know the Leaf D is loaded, but the offense just reeks. Our GM's do have a lot of history together so I was wondering: Would Burke be willing to deal Mike Komisarek for a decent prospect and a few picks? I just wanted a brief scouting report on what he does and doesn't do well on your team. From what I hear he doesn't know how to stick handle but he ain't a turnover machine, RIGHT? RIGHT!!!!!!??????
Gabbert?
Okay so I know that this team sucks right now, but our offense is set with Shipley, Gresham, Simpson, Caldwell (who still sucks but is a nice depth option), Lenoard, Whitoworth, Williams, etc. Except the quarterback......
Listen... I know you all think that Carson's issues are mental, not physical, but however if you watch this guy, even in the San Diego game, his balls are getting weaker and have absolutely no zip on them. I didn't watch Carson in 05, but I heard that he was bringing the heat and looked like a legit franchise QB. I'm done giving him more chances and it hurts me to say that as a USC fan. Looking at the draft we could take Mallet, Locker, Gabbert, and Newton. Right now we have the fourth pick and since there is no chance that Mike Brown is going to trade up, I think the best move would be to trade down to maybe the 10,9,8 or 7 spot and grab some mid round picks which we could use to add some depth on offense and defense. Out of all the QB's not named Luck I like Gabbert the most. Now I understand that most people don't know much about him and that his draft stock has soared just this past month, but the guy can play. About 6 foot 5 and with a decent arm, the guy can also scramble when needed. He played in an offense where there were option plays so I think he would be a great dual threat. Obviously we should take him if Brat is fired, but if not then we would be better off him Bowers or Fairley. Let's face it, you need a franchise QB to win in this league. Look at St. Louis, Tampa Bay, etc. They built around young talent and cut ties with overpaid, veterans who struggled producing. I think it's time to turn a new leaf at QB and with Dunlap's emergence, we could always take a lineman later in the draft.
Sutton/ Questions from a Ducks fan
Hey guys, I haven't really participated much on this blog, but as a Duck fan I thought it would be time to start asking around other fan bases about Andy Sutton. The Ducks signed Sutton to a two year 4.2 million dollar deal this summer and its starting to look like a huge mistake. The main thing I want to know is how Sutton looked in his few months with your team. Was he coughing up the puck at wrong times, losing battles down low, and taking stupid penalties? I thought he would be a great signing but so far he looks like crap. Or do you think its just a part of the rust that comes with breaking your thumb? And one more thing, are you guys looking to shop Chris Phillips and if so what kind of pieces would Murray look for him? Thanks
Please Get some help at 3B and LF
Hey this is my first fanpost on this blog. Gotta say this is a nice community lol. I just wanted to say that I pray to God that Wren gets some help at the waiver wire. I know that you can't get a great player at the waiver wire but still some nice-pickups are a possible. I was scared when Gondee said that Aramis Ramirez might join the Braves. I wasn't pleased also when he reported that Alvord wasn't being signed. According to scouting reports he is a great hitter whose bat may get him to the majors even if his defense isn't up to par. Seems like Frank Wren doesn't like power-hitters.....
I'd like to see Wren acquire a guy like Ty Wigginton who has some pop and versatility and could fill Chip's role at 3B. And I've already expressed my desire for Josh Willingham who can hit and has a great on base percentage. I know he would cost us a good prospect but he could play LF for us for a long time after this year. I'd rather have him than Cabrera who doesn't hit HR at all. See, that's what our line-up could use. Some power like the Rangers or Phillies. To win the World Series this year we better get some bats at the waiver-wire. Good luck Frank, we're counting on ya......
Temmu's coming back... according to TSN
I'm too lazy to give you guys a link right now but just type in tsn's address and the story will be the first thing that comes up. TSN's reporting that Teemu told the team he is returning and that he expects the contract to be shelled out during the weekend. Now the Kariya to Anaheim rumor just might pick up some steam. I don't think it would be a bad idea to have Kariya back. He can still score a bunch of goals on the PP even though he may have lost a step or two. If he could duplicate the chemistry he had with Teemu a few years ago then that would be a dangerous 2nd line. Although some of you may think that we have too many forwards and adding Kariya would just take away Belesky or Sexton's ice time. I wouldn't mind as long as Murray brings him in for the right price (paycut from what he earned with St. Louis).
Holy crap we're getting sutton.
From the oc register we are signing Sutton on Monday fools. WHOOOOO YOU HEARD IT HEAR FROM THE ALBERT K WHO ARTHUR HATES LOL... So this is good for us right? I mean Sutton can't skate but he has a hell of a body that can hurt people. See him knock out Leopold? Now Murray has his wits about him maybe we are set. I still like the idea of Bieksa but then no room for Fowler so it looks like it's 9 and done for the kid. Look's like I'm eating my words lol. I guess you gotta give kudos to Murray on this one for signing a tough lugnut. So the D looks like Sbisa, Lubo, Sutton, Lydman, Mikkelson, Festerling, Brookbank, and Fowler. Not bad and certainly better than what it was yesterday but I still feel we could use a Coburn or Bieksa. I guess we'll have to wait and see where Niemi and Ilya sign. I have a feeling Niemi could have a chain reaction effect on us because if Philly feels he is an upgrade over Leighton, then I'm sure they'll sign him and may give us Coburn for picks/prospects to make space. Hopefully that happens and then all Bob needs to do is re-sign Flash and trade or sign Ryan.
Our Options
Okay since I'm sick of speculating on the next Boynton or Eminger Murray will bring in I'll just run down our options left at the blue line. Now that I think about it, Lubo is actually a bonafide number 1 d-man since he can rack up the points like Scotty did. He just needs a capable partner and I think that Lydman signing was a mistake since he really doesn't pose a big frame and rarely hits people. Lydman is more of a smooth skating, positional D-man. We actually have a lot more options now that I think about it other than Bieksa. Haha I spelled it right. Thanks whoever corrected me on that last fanpost. The point is if we sign Sutton or Mitchell our D still sucks balls. I'd rather have us get Brett Burns from Minny or a D-man from the cap-restricted Devils...... So with that here our remaining options via free agency or trade:
Shoane Morrison
Brett Burns- Minny needs forwards and we have a bunch of D prospects
Nick Schultz- A big guy Minny might wanna swap for a forward like Lupul or Blake
Colin White- On the block after Kovy's deal blew up their space
Bieksa- Vancouver has too many D-men but the price seems high
Kim Johnsonn- A good player with all-around potential. This guy has a good chance of signing with us if his concussions are done since Chicago is barely breathing under the cap.....
Okay maybe there is some hope.... Just pray to God that we get one of these studs...... (BTW I don't like Morrison)
Sooo.... We're Screwed Right?
I know it's the dog days of the NHL off-season but I still gotta feeling Bob isn't gonna do anything big. He should have done something on July 1st when Zybnek and Martin were still available. He's gonna fiddle and waste his time with Wiz so what the hell? We're screwed right? I mean Arthur, what's the point with the gamedays next year when you know full well we aren't making the post-season? Bieska was my last hope at a decent shot at the Cup but now there isn't anyone left. Shoane Morrison? Please the guy sucks. He doesn't score at all and is decent at clearing the crease. If he couldn't help a bad Caps D then he sure as hell can't help us in a major way. Sutton is a nice-addition but who's gonna pair with him? Sbisa and Sutton together would be pretty okay but Sbisa didn't look too good last year with a minus-5 rating before being sent down. I hear he was impressive in the Olympics so I'm sure he's turned his game up. All I'm saying is you know you have an incompetent GM and a sad D when you're considering adding Morrison into the Top-4...... Souray anyone?
Time for the Big Ones
Alright peeps Ilya has finally made his damn mind about where he wants to play. Good for us the Kings have had a worse offseason then us but are still the better team.... DEPRESSING.... Anyway the point is now that the big one has been taken off the market teams are expected to deal to clear cap space and roster holes. ESPN is saying the Stars and the Ducks are in on Bieska but the Stars have to wait for their ownership situation. That gives us the advantage plus the fact that our prospect system looks pretty stacked with D-men. I know Bieska would help but I would rather trade for Erhoff or Edler. Make it happen Murray!
So Why haven't we gotten Bieska?
Okay now intros this time, I'm gonna jump right to it. Why have the Anaheim Ducks not traded for Bieska? Our defense like everyone already knows, is probably one of the worst in the NHL in its current state and Murray seems to have forgotten free agency started on July 1 since so far all he has done is sign Lydman and Koivu. WOW WOW WOW.....
I know Bieska isn't as good as Scott or Prongs but he is a legitimate top-4 player and can log huge minutes if needed. The dude has a huge shot which is always welcome and can play on the penalty kill. I think he is not a "Big Wiz" like some say because he has a lot more upside than Wiz and when he's healthy he produces. When has Wiz ever been healthy and produced at the same time? We saw that last year and I'm not willing to pay his little ass the money he is asking for. I don't know how long it takes or how a trade is made in pro sports but if I were and NHL executive I would identify the player I needed and wanted and call the other team right away about possibilities. Not just sit on my ass like Murray has been doing. Relax we can ship Bobby off later and match any offer sheet so JUST GET BIESKA OR BOBBY FOR DOUGHTY AND A BAG OF CHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU THE OTHER 11 TEAMS THAT WERE AHEAD OF US
I just wanted to say:
Thank you to the Oilers, Bruins, Panthers, Jackets, Islanders, Lightning, Hurricanes, Atlanta, Minnesota, New York, and Dallas for being the dumbest teams in the NHL. I understand you may have had Fowler lower on your boards but it still is beyond me why in the hell this franchise d-man fell to 12. Now we won't be screwed for 3 years and have a bright future with our D-corps. So get ready to piss your pants NHL because the ANAHEIM DUCKS ARE BACK!!!!!!!
I'm Sick of Murray
Okay so it's almost time for the draft and free agency. Let's see what Murray has done so far. 1. Re-sign Brookbank 2. Re-sign Chipchura
Now I understand those two are good role players and tough guys but like Jen said those aren't the updates I want to hear. We could easily replace those two by trade or free agency. As a Duck fan I'm getting sick of all the speculation about Bobby, Saku, Scott, and Teemu. Murray always talks about how this year he has lots of time and not to worry about anything. He should have already signed at least Bobby to a contract by now! The way I see it it's do or die for Bobby and the Ducks on July 1 because Murray doesn't seem like he wants to give Bobby the 4-year-deal he wants. Oh did I mention he hasn't signed Saku yet? Like other people I have no idea what goes on inside the team but what I can assume is that Murray doesn't seem to be a good contract negotiator. I understand he was a friend of Burke but I wouldn't let someone who was in charge of the Hawks when they sucked balls be our GM. Maybe that's just me but I don't have a good feeling about July 1.....
Scotty Update
Hey guys this ain't specualtion this time.... I'm hearing from EJ Hradek on ESPN that when he talked with Scotty last Thursday that he would make a desicion in the coming weeks and possibly after the Cup Finals. Now the interresting part is that this was a rumor central story which requires you to pay money for access to those juicy rumors. Usually you can only see the little first part of a rumor before having to pay for it. Luckily for us Scott's section in Mr. Hradek's "Top 15 free agents" was right at the beginning so I was able to see the whole paragraph. EJ reported that Scott gave him no indication but EJ felt that during the conversation Scott was leaning toward hanging up the skates. Now I haven't been following EJ a lot and don't know whether he is a respected voice in the hockey world but if he is it seems to me that this could be a good and bad thing for the Ducks. First off, we would get more cap space to sign other key free agents but replacing Scott is hard to do. However, I do believe that Martin or Kaberle would be more than ready for the job. This news doesn't come as a surprise as Scott has just come off a disappointing season posting a career-worst minus 9 and his lowest goal output in a while even though it wasn't entirely his fault since he had to cover for Eminger and Wiz's problems. In the end he really had no reason to come back ( the guys pretty much won everything you can win) and I think many people, Scott included, don't feel the Ducks will contend in 2010-2011 unless we have a complete new defense without draft busts. Keep your ears open in the following weeks Ducks fans... this summer is about to get real interesting....
Ducks 2010 NHL DRAFT
So apparently Jen, Arthur, and someone else will all meet up at the draft and have a good time. We fellow fans aren't so fortunate and will watch the draft from home and I'll also miss free agency since I'm going to vacation to Canada......
I'm trying to guess who Madden will pick in this year's draft and I'm assuming it's gonna be sheahan or kabanov with the first pick or skinner or etem with number 29 or 30... even a trade out with that 29 which is essentially a second round pick... damn Flyers.... so after that comes the free agents.
Like I said before I think Volchenkov is gone to the Caps and he don't wanna come out West... That leaves Zybnek of the Yotes and maybe Hamhius as real options. What I learned watching the playoffs this year was that you can't win without 4 legitimate top-4 d-man with one shutdown bruiser... I'll be the first to admit I thought Murray's moves were fantastic last year and I believed that Eminger, Boynton, Whitney, Wiz, and Sbisa were good enough of a defense... Looks like I was wrong and you fellow fans who were applauding Murray aka the Bufoon should also admit that you were excited with the shit moves Bob made last summer. So let's not speculate what we would do but let's try and predict what Murray and Madden will do and have some fun in this boring offseason so far.... Personally I see either Zybnek signing for 4 mil to 5 mil a year for 4 to 5 years... Pair him with Lubo and Sbisa with Scotty and Brooks with Mikkelson and.... never mind Festerling sucks...... The other scenario is signing Hamhius or maybe even trading for Coburn who is actually a top-4 d-man unlike Eminger or Boynton and can log some huge minutes even though he was a minus 6 or 7 this year on a deep Flyer blue line. Philly has some major cap problems and probably would consider moving a salary if we pony up a good d-prospect from our cupboard. I would give them Schultz, Mikkelson, Festerling and a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Mikkelson at this point has used up all his chances and Fester is just a normal sad dude so not much of a loss for us if we traded them.
So guys get predicting on what the "Bufoon" will do next cause even though we want to all be NHL GMs we sadly can't. :)
PS. This library computer freezes when I try to attach a poll
what now?
im using a crappy computer in the library whose keys dont shift right so here goes.... now that brooks is signed i thought to myself what now? he can play big minutes but doesn;t have the defensive ability of a prongs but still is a steady rock... he can let lubo do whatever the hell he wants with the puck in the offensive zone... we don't need him to be a pronger so maybe just maybe he can elevate his game like he did this year and help fix our woes so we wont need to overpay for volchenkov who doesnt even want to move west.... so ducks fans is brooks ready for a top-4 role?
PS. Whenever i try to attach a poll the computer freezes and i have to start over again and i got like 5 minutes left in my session so just discuss below in the comments section your thought... peace and GO DUCKS!!!!!!
The Brookbank Dilemma
So it's the offseason and all the speculating on which busts Murray will bring in is giving me a headache so let's look at one possible viable partner for lubo this year....
Looking at Sheldon's stats you can tell immediately that he is no scoring threat in any situation. However, if you need a solid makes the safe play 100%-the-time-player then you might get a good 1.5 mil investment. That's the highest I would offer this guy and I see how he evolves in a top4 role. Remember he made Whitney look good when paired with him. So instead of using up all that cap space how bout go after a cheap easy option that wants to stay in Anaheim... sounds good to me
Why not Blake? (no, not Jason)
Hey guys how ya'll doin? I'm doing alright myself and just thought I should start this fanpost with a formal greeting so here it goes....
As you all already know one of the Duck's biggest problems last year was their inability to play solid and defense and clear the front of the net. Obviously Murray didn't think Wiz and Shitney would be that stupid or incapable of doing what a d-man is supposed to do so he shipped out Pronger. So with that in mind our biggest need this offseason will be a physical defenseman that can clear the crease and be an adequate partner to the creative and skilled Lubo....
I know we all love Volchenkov but the thing is he may not want to move so far west. I have been hearing rumors on ESPN.com that the Capitals may be eyeing this big blueliner and if they are able to get the cap space then why not? But then again it's ESPN and half the time I can't guess if the rumors are credible or just plain speculation as their rumor mill gives very few details. So I've been thinking of some alternatives and why not Rob Blake? He's a physical d-man with a rocket slapper who can teach Sbisa a thing or two about how to intimidate opponents and be a better player overall. And if Clark is ready in a few years to step into a top-four role like Arthur and Daniel say then we may not need Volchenkov and his hefty contract after all. Our D-cupboard is probably the best in the league and Gardiner, Sbisa, Clark, Schultz and Vatanen all look like top-4 d-man which is why adding Volchenkov might not give all these talented guys a fair shot at the pros. That's why I'm hoping the Sharks don't win it all because that would give Blake extra reason to return for one or two more shots before heading off into the sunset. And if San Jose loses then I expect major changes and Blake and Marleau gone for cap purposes. It's a dream scenario for me and the Ducks and hey, Murray brought in Boynton, why can't he bring in Blake..........................
Bonino vs Holland
Well fans it's the offseason again but before we get into that let's take a look into out crystal ball and see who the future ducks of tomorrow may be. I know Arthur is sick of me doting on Peter Holland so I'm just gonna flat out compare the two and see which one the fans like better since they are the only two candidates as of now to center our second line in the next few years.
Upside: Smart two-way center
Loves to play in the dirty areas ( a typical ducks player)
Has shown good leadership abilities and a knack for scoring big-time goals
Has all the offensive tools you'd expect in a big-time player
Downside: Not a great skater and needs to work on his conditioning
Potential: Dependable two-center who may be a finalist for the Selke trophy with a 15-25 goal potential
At 6-2 he has NHL size but his thin frame makes you wonder if he can withstand the punishment inflicted at the pro level
Peter Holland
Upside: Two-way center with a sweet pair of hands
Has the ability to dominate with his size and skating ability
Great offensive instincts and a hard shot
Downside:
May be lazy depending on which scouting report you believe.
If he doesn;t learn to use his size then he will be a soft third line player
Potential: A dominating physical center who can rack up points every game and can score anywhere from 20 to 40 goals
Be a GM 2 (thanks for the title Nate) :)
So you all have seen Nate's post on being a GM for our Ducks... well here's mine with a bit different looking roster.....
Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
Belesky-Chipchura-Sexton
Brown-Carter or Marchant-Parros or Bodie
Sbisa-Scott
Lubo-Volchenkov
Oystrick-Festerling
Seeing as Randy is staying he'll want the cycling lines out there and I think Bonino needs some AHL seasoning to work on his conditioning and Sexton could use a year of learning to up his physical play. Festerling sucks but he's not worth much in a trade and I would assume we would trade Lupul or Mikkelson for some pieces in the future. To be honest I would like Martin in there as well but seeing as we gotta eat those veteran contracts I don't see how we can fit them all under the cap.... Defense ain't looking too pretty for next year... gulp
