so lets say the Jays trade Doc to the Phillies for the rumoured package of:

Kyle Drabek
Michael Taylor
Carlos Carrasco
Jason Donald

lets also take for granted that all of this years draftees sign their minor league contracts. what would our TOP 30 PLAYERS NOT CURRENTLY IN THE MAJORS look like after that? in my opinion, we'd be top 3 in the league, and it would look something like this:

1. Travis Snider
2. Kyle Drabek
3. Michael Taylor
4. JP Arencibia
5. Carlos Carrasco
6. Chad Jenkins
7.
Lets have a look at this underrated, rarely mentioned 20 year old Canadian who's quietly having one of the better seasons in the High-A ball. Gillies has put up intriguing numbers across the board, especially for a centerfielder.

295 ab's, .325, 8 doubles, 9 trips, 6 hr, 26 rbi's, 45 walks, 55 k, 23 sb, 12 cs, .911 ops.

Lots of pop and speed, and an above average at the plate. Obviously the speed helps tremendously in CF. It will be interesting to watch his progression.

Tyler Pastornicky

Tyler Pastornicky.

A quick note on a Blue Jay prospect to keep an eye on, 19 year old Tyler Pastornicky of the Low A Lansing Lugnuts. A 5th rounder out of a Florida HS in the 2007 draft.

After somewhat of a rough start to the season in which he hit just .203 in the month of April, which if forgivable considering that he was playing baseball in cold weather for the first time in his life. Since April, Pastornicky has been a spark plug for the Luggies hitting in the 2 spot, getting on base and swiping all kinds of bases. he's been a model of consistency for an otherwise inconsistent Lansing Lugnuts squad.

Currently, Tyler is riding a nice 13 game hit streak, during which he has collected 18 hits in 44 ab's, and has struck out just once during the streak. Also, since April, he's stolen a total of 35 bases while being caught just 6 times.

Tyler also has a gun for an arm at shortstop, being clocked as high as 91 mph across the diamond, while playing a very steadily defensively. The only thing Tyler needs to work on is getting a bit strong so that he can add a few more extra base hits into the mix, as he only has 13 all season in 288 ab's, with no homers. But the way i see it, every stolen base after a walk or single is just the same as a double.

One final note on Tyler is his eye at the plate, which is well above average, as his BB/K ratio sits at a healthy 29 to 36. Lots to like about this guy.

(just for ships n' giggles) minus the month of april, this is his season line:

61 games, 68 for 227, .300, 8 doubles, 3 trips, 0 hr, 20 rbi, 22 walks, 28 k's, 35 sb, 6 cs.
