FYI: The Dallas Cowboys Mobile App streams the live radio broadcast during the games

The local Dallas radio broadcast by Brad Sham was actually 6 seconds ahead of NFL Network's telecast. I don't know if this feature will be in place for the regular season, but the app is free and it's nice to hear Cowboys-centric commentary.

Michael Irvin tells the "truth" about the media and his own network

Today on NFLN, Michael Irvin appeared as a correspondent on Inside Training Camp Live. When host Andrew Siciliano asked him about the expectations for Tony Romo in 2013, Irvin, without being too direct, implied that the media has a bias against the Cowboys QB. Below is a transcript of part of that conversation:

Siciliano: "How is Romo different this year in this offense? Bill Callahan is calling the plays now, but let's talk about how that affects the quarterback. He had leads in the fourth quarter last year that the defense couldn't hold. Is he in a better position to win now that things have changed a bit in play calling?"

Irvin: Drew, you know, you sure 'they' don't mind you doing this? Because you just gave Tony Romo a compliment in the studio and that's not something that comes out of..."

Siciliano jokingly interjects: "I'll be called to the office later."

Irvin continues: "...Culver City much. Exactly now. Don't want you to get any demerits for doing that stuff. So be careful, I might add, to give you the truth here."

Flacco to get $120.6M for 6yr deal

Aside from contemplating how this may affect Romo's extension, I'm forced to wonder if there will ever be a time when people stop applying team stats to individual players.

Witten, Livings rework contracts

According to a source, the Cowboys converted $4.56 million of Witten's $5.5 million 2013 base salary into a signing bonus to save roughly $3.65 million against the cap.

Former Cowboy, Tony Casillas, says they used horse ointment in his day

"When I heard about deer antler spray, I said that's nothing. We used to use this stuff called 'DMSO,' " Casillas said last week in an interview with KRLD-FM in Dallas. "That's what veterinarians put on horses' muscles and we used it in the locker room."

Rolando McClain to be released

I remember he was a highly regarded prospect coming out of college, but don't know anything else about him. Anyone know if he's worth putting in a claim for or why the Raiders are cutting him?

Marty B says Romo not in same league as Eli Manning

Although it is technically hearsay, it would not surprise me if this story turns out to be true. ""Romo isn’t in the same league as Eli Manning. Not even close," Bennett was overheard saying at a New York restaurant."

Cowboys call up Orie Lemon, release Mario Butler

"Lemon will likely assume a lot of the special teams duties held by Alex Albright, who is out this week with a stinger injury." "Butler is still practice-squad eligible and it’s likely the Cowboys will try to bring him back on the eight-man squad."

Sean Lissemore to make first start Sunday

"When he's out, there's a big void there," defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said of Coleman. "... But we have two outstanding players in there. Sean Lissemore is finally going to get his chance to start. I know he should have been starting forever -- the kid made 10 tackles last week. He's a dynamic player, (and) Josh Brent has been outstanding on the nose.

Cowboys extend Lissemore

Sean Lissemore signed a 3 year extension that's $3.1M guaranteed with a $2M signing bonus.

Brodney Pool Released

According to dc.com, the Cowboys have cut Brodney Pool and Isaac Madison to make room for wide receiver David Little and running back Javarris Williams.

Morris Claiborne has minor MCL Sprain

According to ESPN Dallas, "Morris Claiborne, the Dallas Cowboys' first-round pick, is expected to miss a few practices after suffering a minor MCL knee sprain."

According to Cowboys Break on dc.com, Dez Bryant has switched agents. I couldn't find a link to a story on that yet, but they did discuss it on the show.

Dez to return punts this year

Dez will handle punts and Felix will take kickoffs. Both will work as returners from the start of camp: "We think that’s really going to do wonders for our kicking game," executive vice president Stephen Jones said. "We’re going to let them work on it from the get go. Obviously, we didn’t do it with Felix last year because he was the starting running back and we didn’t do it with Dez. This year, we think it’ll make a big difference. Both guys were top guys come out of college. By letting them work on it every day, Joe (DeCamillis) thinks it’ll make a big difference."

GLORY HOLE: For those who missed today's press conference

Hat tip to scottmaui for the quote: "I have been here when it was the glory hole days. I have been here when it wasn’t. I want me some glory hole." —Jerry Jones Thanks to Rich Dalrymple for the save. ;)

Associated Press: The Dallas Cowboys announced the free agent signing of Allan Uy today after a workout at Cowboys Stadium. The Cowboys will release Kevin Ogletree in order to make room for Uy on their roster. "We think Allan is the right kind of guy. He's got the measureables, football intelligence, and athleticism to compete for our 3rd wr slot," said Jason Garrett, head coach. "I'm looking forward to seeing what this kid can do here in a couple weeks [in training camp]," added Jerry Jones.

Cowboys offered a 3rd for Gordon?

According to dc.com: The Cowboys' bid for Gordon is believed to have been in the third round. However, the team had a second-round grade on the receiver, according to a source.

Chris Canty: Tony Romo the reason Cowboys haven’t had same success as Giants

"Romo’s a tremendous quarterback, statistically he’s a top five quarterback, that’s undeniable," Canty said Tuesday on ESPN’s SportsNation. "At the end of the day, in the clutch situations, he hasn’t performed as well as you would like him to. I think ultimately, that’s been the difference between their franchise and the Giants ability to be successful."

More of Lawrence Vickers from the Ben & Skin Show

Man, I LOVE THIS GUY! Very informative. This is a different interview from the fanshot posted earlier. The link above is for the direct download of the entire interview (28 min). You can also follow this link to the espn dallas blog for a brief summary, but the full interview is worth listening to.

How the offense all fits together

Another great article by Bob Sturm. It's a good, simple, and reasoned explanation as to why our offense hasn't always performed it's best and why it hasn't been as explosive since 2007. Many people here at BtB already know this, but it's always nice to have credible people outside the community mention it as well.

HE DOES EXIST! Interview with Andre Holmes

Much like Santa Clause and the talking M&M's, or the fabled Big Foot and Chupacabra, the existence of the mythical Andre Holmes has baffled both scientist and fan alike for years. But with the advent of streaming video technology, dc.com's very own Mickey Spagnola was able to document his live encounter with Andre Holmes, a creature whose previous existence was only thought to be in the legends and fairy tales we tell our children.

Kyle Wilber has a fractured finger

A little bit of bad news. DC.com is reporting that Wilber has a fractured finger and will miss a little bit of time. It's nothing close to a season ender or anything like that, but it's significant enough that he'll have to skip at least 1 or some of the OTA's. UPDATE: Wilber had surgery on his fractured finger and it sounds like he may be out until training camp.

Stephen Jones interview about the draft

More great stuff from the mothership. This is a long interview that Stephen Jones had with dc.com about the draft, etc. It's about 40 min. in length.

Mash Up of our 2012 NFL Draft Class

If you haven't seen the videos and/or audio of the phone calls made to our draft picks, dc.com has put together this collection from the draft. It also starts with a quick snippet of Stephen Jones on the phone during the process of trading up to Pick 6.

One player away?

Hypothetically speaking, if this story is true, then it's pretty telling on why we traded up for Claiborne and how the front office views the team as a whole. I'm not saying it's true, but it does make sense. Jerry has said many times that he's an optimist so he's more likely to see the heights this team could reach as opposed to the lows.
