Is Bacon banned?

If not, step up to the plate and get rid of this kid. He is offering nothing constructive whatsoever, and I'm sick of reading his negative bullcrap.

Trolls are going to be trolls, guys. Period. We get trolled by every other team in the league consistantly. We still, despite what the Cincy Bengals have done over the least 3 or 4 years, have the reputation of being thugs and criminals. This won't change for the forseeable future, so we need to do our best to embrace what is, and change our reputation for the future.

It's near impossible to do so when we have a douchebag poking and prodding us for no other reason but to get under our skin. He almost always gets a response (and never merits one), and I'm sick of it.  Let's get rid of this tool, and take a harsher stance on stupidass trolls around here. The community will flourish for it.

A sweet little gift from NHL.com to ring in the new year. Free Center Ice tonight. Enjoy.

Not one San Jose Shark. In fact, it looks to be all Blackhawks and Ducks.

I don't really get it. That makes me nothing less than absolutely queezy.

I don't mean to be brash...

We just had the best two weeks I can remember in the last six years. We won two games against .500 teams. And we did it with our YOUTH. THE PLAYERS WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

What do I get?

NO POST GAME RECAP?

That's friggin' ridiculous. How are we going to build this community any deeper than the 10-15 if you guys aren't thorough. The second you get something easy to write about (winning) you just neglect to do it.

Saint, STEP IT UP. A week late is better than none at all!

Shark Bait (12/9/08)

Hello, folks, and welcome to another poorly written edition of the classic sharks link dump, Shark Bait!

___

- For starters, USA Today has a doozy on just how fantastic Setoguchi has been playing on the top line with Marleau and Thornton. It's pretty gross, man. The kid is filthy. These guys score at will, and consistently bring entertainment to the top of periods. Don't forget to get your asses over to the nhl.com and VOTE FOR SETOGUCHI!

- I didn't know anything about this, but apparently rookie Tom Cavanagh
debuted on thursday. Pretty awesome, to be able to play with Lemieux for a warm up, get called up and play along side Roenick. That's HISTORY, man!

- Merc News has a couple captain obvious articles up, one crediting some of our incredible early season success to the newcoming veterans. Another that makes way too much out of how the sharks decide to puck up ice. Both are very interesting reads, but it just goes to show you that it's much easier to talk about a team when they're terrible. Haha.

- Please lets give a Fear the Fin welcome to new SB Nation blog, Battle of California. These guys are a staple of California Hockey, and have been around since I can remember caring about hockey, which to be fair, isn't very long.

- I'm gonna go ahead and close this one by just pointing out that the sharks are legitimately incredible to watch right now. Enjoy it. I can't even post power rankings because the sharks are #1 everywhere. Haha. It's a great time to be a sharks fan. I know, all we can think about is that dreaded 2nd round. Let's hope the injury bug doesn't eat us up.

Shark Bait (11/13/2008 SJ vs CGY)

On tap tonight, SJ vs Calgary. Always a heated match up. After a wild and entertaining playoff series last year, it will be interesting to see what level of intensity both teams bring. They both have something to prove, and these sort of narratives almost always make for excellent hockey.

This community has me pumped lately.

I arrived at this particular blog early last season. It was dead to the world. Pretty much saint and maybe two or three others would participate on a weekly basis, and it was really kind of a bummer.

Fast forward to a year later, and we've gotten such a deep community of independent thinkers, that even Bronco fans come around and put in their two sense to gauge where the respectable members of the Raiders community and their heads are at.

I like this. I like the fans of heated rivals coming in here, and being treated with enough respect to want to come back for me. Regardless of who they root for, the ones that stay, and respect us enough to not to overstate the obvious (that we are a trashy franchise that won't get any traction in this league until Al Davis dies) are not only welcome, but now encouraged by me to post here. It's honestly fun coming on here and discussing football with the fans of other teams, and I for one am proud that our community is (even if begrudgingly) welcoming them with a sort of open arms.

Good on ya, Raiders fans.

And welcome to the communtity, the fans of other teams.

Shark Bait (Mitchell Out / Personnel additions)

Bummer.  Y! Sports reports Torrey Mitchell will be out at least two months after suffering a broken leg:

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—Sharks center Torrey Mitchell will be out at least two months after breaking his left leg Sunday during the second practice of San Jose’s training camp.

Mitchell, who had 10 goals and 10 assists as a rookie last season, broke both major bones in his lower leg when he crashed into the post while driving to the net during a scrimmage. He was scheduled to undergo surgery Sunday night.

San Jose doesn’t expect Mitchell to return to the ice until mid-November at the earliest, keeping him out for at least the first five weeks of the regular season.

Also, it looks like the Sharks shored up their personnel a little bit. Can someone explain to me the impact this could have for the future?

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—The San Jose Sharks hired former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager John Ferguson Jr. on Sunday to be their director of pro scouting.

Ferguson was fired by Toronto in January after 4 1/2 seasons running the Leafs. His father, the former New York Rangers coach who died in July 2007, spent 11 seasons working in the Sharks organization.

San Jose also added former Chicago coach Dirk Graham to its scouting staff along with Shin Larsson and Jason Rowe. Graham, a 12-year NHL veteran who won the Selke Trophy in 1991, spent the last two seasons scouting for Tampa Bay.

Attention Media.

Attention media: You aren't helping. Let's take a look at what I've read over the past couple of days.

"Raiders are a team in need of a bridge", "It's all quiet on the Kiffin front", "Raiders' Davis still mum on plans", and that is just to name a few. It's honestly no wonder Tommy Kelly got busted for DUI! I'd need to be under the influence of something to keep from drowning myself in friggin' sorrow.

We can argue till our blood boils about how ridiculous Al Davis is or isn't being. It does us no good to guess what a maladjusted old man is going to do. We've NEVER been able to read Al. EVER. That will not change. He will continue to do what he wants, when he wants, and there is nothing us sane, rational (in the eye of the beholder) fans can do about it.

I'm done with that discussion. Whether Kiffin stays, or goes... We did something we haven't done in the beginning of a season in quite a while, and that is thoroughly dominate an opponent. I haven't seen us outplay a team like that in a long, long time, and it feels damn good.

Get pumped for McFadden, he might have fumblitis but at least he can run, boy can he run. We've got a QB who can scramble AND put the ball where it needs to go, (whether or not Dropald Curry can catch it is a different story.)  LOOK UP, RAIDERS FANS.

At least until Kiff is fired. Then and only then should we open the floodgates.

Lets live this victory up, while it still lasts.
