Garko playing some catcher.
Just my own kooky idea. Giants are having a tough time finding a temporary solution at catcher. Garko provides a good bat for the position, but the defense would be the biggest question. But hey, he played it in college! Yay or nay?

How about Austin Kearns?
If the Giants don't acquire a big power hitter in the outfield during the offseason, what would you think of the Giants signing Austin Kearns? He's a 30 year old right handed right fielder who has had injury problems with his thumb (in 2009) and 'loose bodies' in his elbow (in 2008). His glove is pretty solid, and his career offensive stats are above average. Obviously there's some issues concerning playing time for John Bowker, Fred Lewis and Nate Schierholtz with a signing like this, but it makes a little sense because they don't have a right handed player in the outfield besides Aaron Rowand.

Pirates trade Nate McLouth to the Braves
Couldn't the Giants have made a trade like this?
How about Dan Uggla?
I vaguely remember reading something here about the Marlins dumping/trading a lot of their players.
If this is true, do you think the Giants should take an interest in such a trade for Dan Uggla (if possible)?
I can picture a trade going something like this:
Jonathan Sanchez, Tim Alderson and Kevin Frandsen for Dan Uggla and a player to be named later (average MiL pitcher).
Yay or nay?
My sistah, is a prostitute.

49ers win 33-30; Nothing To See Here, Move Along
Doesn't it piss you off reading these moron nay-sayers?
After last weeks game against the Cardinals, Ray Ratto wrote a Negative Nancy article about the 49ers and how there's no reason to hope for good things this season.
Some lines from his article:
"'Early?' Looks like too late from here.
'Lots of football left to play?' Oh, dear God.
'Progress?' Where?
'Good signs?' Yeah, right."
There actually WERE good signs last week. The offense showed plenty of competence and the defense roughed up the Cardinals. The Cardinals just did a good job of controlling the clock, and the turnovers ruined the 49ers.
It's strange how badly a lot of these sportswriters and radio personalities get it wrong. Last year, after the 49ers won their first 2 games, many people on KNBR were arguing that there was nothing to be worried about because they were 2-0. I knew better than that. Despite the fact that they won their first two games, they still looked like garbage. So it turned out that many of the fans who were skeptical about those wins were right. And I feel that the fans who are optimistic about this season are going to be right as well, and Ray Ratto will eat his words.
