Nabokov Out Indefinitely

Sounds like he could be IR bound

DiPietro to make Florida Trip

No indication if he will actually be available but he has skated all week so he should be considered close to returning from setback #37.

Brett MacLean on Waivers: Any takers?

Brett is a LWer ranked 3rd by Hockeysfuture in the Phoenix system. He is 24 and scored just shy of a point per game pace last season in the AHL. Not much room left on the roster (especially after the Pandolfo signing) but could be a good pickup. HOTH becomes Backhand Shelf

...and they're off to a good start. Pictured is Frans doing the BHOJ and the following quote: 'Frans Neilsen: kind of the Godfather when it comes to going backhand shelf.' Also happy to see more stuff from Justin Bourne. His hockey writing is some of the best IMO

AMac will 'most likely' play Friday or Saturday

Rolston questionable...focusing more on having him ready to practice next week. Some concern on Rhett's knee but no official word as to the severity.

NBCSports: Islanders could benefit from soft schedule

Unlike last year where it seemed there was a back to back game every week and a 6 game road trip around every corner the schedule makers have actually been pretty friendly to us this year. Here's a bit of analysis on the Isles sched.

FCC rules against Cablevision for withholding HD Broadcasting

For those of us who are not in the Dolan Empire, whether by choice or because it's the only option given to us by the person we rent from (like me) we have been forced to receive MSG in Standard Def only. Cablevision now has until 10/22 to offer MSG & MSG Plus at reasonable terms & conditions to Verizon & ATT.

Islanders season ticket holders up by 1000+

Really impressive jump. It can only build more as the team improves.

Hockey Prospectus at Rookie Camps

"Ryan Strome, Center: Strome had a tremendous all-around showing, with scouts ravings about the creativity, vision, and effort he put worth. He played well defensively, too, from a positional standpoint and also impressed observers with his acceleration and ability to change gears rapidly."

Ratner 'hopeful' for an Islanders move to Brooklyn

Strongest language yet on trying to bring in the Isles to Barclays.

Tavares would 'love to be Isles Captain'

"I’d love to be (captain)," Tavares told NHL.com Thursday morning. "I definitely understand maybe I am still too young and just need to worry about the game, but if it was presented to me, it definitely would be something I would talk about and make sure it’s the right decision for the group and for myself as well. I’d love to be a leader of this team. "Mark Streit and Kyle are great guys and are going to be highly recommended, for sure. But I still feel I’ll be a big leader no matter what, and I’ll still have a lot of responsibility in a lot of ways. Whatever way it goes, it’s going to be a guy that definitely deserves it and will do a great job at it. If I get the opportunity, it would be a huge honor."

Park signs with the Enemy

Richard Park is back from his Swiss sojourn and in the jersey of the flightless birds. The deal is $550,000 at the NHL level (two-way deal).

Nearly all of KHL team Yaroslavl Lokomotiv Killed in Plane Crash

Really sad day for hockey. Among the dead (unconfirmed) are former NHL All-Star Pavol Demitra and former Islander Josef Vasicek.

Andrey Pedan Impresses in Preseason Debut

"Andrey Pedan is a Russian defenseman who was picked up in the third round by the New York Islanders in last year's NHL Entry Draft and is looking like another outstanding selection by Garth Snow and company. He was the top player in the game, hands down. Controlling the play, anchoring Guelph's power play while moving well up and down the ice -- look for Pedan to have a breakthrough junior year this season."

Bailey & Strome should be signed soon-Strang

In case this is behind the pay wall it quotes Bailey's agent saying that both sides are working hard to get the contract concluded (which would suggest most of the main points are hammered out) and Strome should have his ELC signed by week's end.

Dave Scatchard retires

The former Islander has been having concussion problems and has been advised that 'playing hockey is not an option any longer. Wouldn't be safe". It's real sad to see anyone's career end in such a way.

Denver University ranked #1 college program for grooming prospects

The Islanders have taken advantage of this good program. Donovan & Rakhshani both developed real well there and now hopefully they do the same with Mayfield.

Brooklyn Hockey Fans Ready to Welcome Islanders- Daily News

I swear there is more news coverage over the team's chances of moving to Brooklyn then there was on the referendum...or of any actual Islanders Hockey.

New jersey numbers anounced

Kabanov gets the old Turgeon 77. Hamonic with 3 is core-iffic.

Puck Daddy: Is this the Isles new 3rd Jersey

I submit this for discussion...what do you think?

Who says Jurcina does not use his size enough?

While hit numbers can be a bit unreliable (as they are based on observation and the whims of the scorer) it seems our boy Milan was 9th in hits per minute by defensemen.
