1

I'd just like to say a couple things before we get to the links... There is lots of business to take care of this weekend, folks! In case you forgot, the home opener is TONIGHT! Wear your...

Jackets return to Columbus with a club first

+

Coach Arniel talks practice after returning from Sweden. A little tidbid that I read down at the bottom, thought I should pass it along to you guys. Ethan Moreau becomes the first Jacket to score his first goal with the team, in OT. Congrats, Ethan, and welcome to Columbus!

Shrapnel - The Return

8

Its back! The Jackets link post known as Shrapnel has made its return to The Cannon! So sit back, relax, and click away! Jackets Links: - Players and coaches look back on their Swedish adventure....

Meet the newest Hershey Bear...Sheldon Souray?

+

Edmonton has decided to hide disgruntled D Sheldon Souray in Hershey. And yes, they have to pay his $4.5 million dollar salary. Seriously? You couldn't make a deal and move him? Really?

Andrew's Thoughts on the Upcoming Season

+

By now you've read Mike's and Matt's thoughts and predictions for this year, now I'll take a shot at it. This is going to be a crucial year for Columbus. Ticket sales are going to be down, way, way...

Got a fever, and need more Blue Jackets?

+

Puck-rakers posted an article of links giving you all the inside on the upcoming season - a look at the offense, defense, and special teams. Facts about the arena, the record books, coverage on tv and radio. Want to know about the coaching staff? Western and Eastern Conference outlooks? Divisional outlooks? Former CBJ captains? Its all there! Plus more! Great way to get primed and ready for this season!!!

Souray hits waivers

Lets the rumors fly!...Again!

Jackets highly touted rookies get chance to shine

+

Ryan Johansen will get to show his stuff to the hometown crowd when he centers Captain Rick Nash, and R.J. Umberger. David Savard and John Moore will also be in the lineup, pairing with Jan Hejda and Dalton Prout respectively.

Training Camp Battles Pt. 3 - The Top Six And The Odd Man Out

16

Ending our series of Training Camp Battles I'm going to take a look at our Top 6, who's in, and who (unfortunately) is out. In case you missed it, here's Part 1 covering the 4th line, and Part 2...

Klesla finally at 100%

+

After a long series of surgeries, setbacks and rehabbing, Rusty says he's finally 100% and will be good to go when training camp starts on Saturday. This is a huge sigh of relief for our defense. He's a big player in what we're trying to accomplish. Welcome back, Rusty!

Columbus Blue Jackets 2010 Preview: WWF/E style

+

Puck Daddy offers up their preview for our guys. The wrestling fans out there ought to get a kick out of this.

Looking into the Locker Room, Fritsche, and more

+

For Dan Fritsche, playing in the NHL (especially in Columbus) is his top priority. He's got a lot to prove if he wants to make the club. Also, Mase talks contracts, Nash arrives, and changes in the locker room.

Mason lean and mean heading into the season

+

Still worried about Mase? Hopefully this will ease your nerves. A look into Mase's summer workout regimen. Notable quote: "I've come back in the best shape of my career."

Sharks nab Niemi

+

On a relatively quiet week on the Jackets front, deals are still getting done around the league. San Jose signs Antti Niemi.

Is the Big 10 selling out tradition?

13

Worth the read. Rumors around town have "The Game" moved to October, possibly setting up a second meeting in the conference title game later in the year. My thoughts: Put them in opposite divisions, and keep The Game as the last regular season game. If they happen to meet in the conference title game, so be it. Now lets be honest, how often will they both be at the top of their divisions at the end of the year?

The Unsurprising Resurgence Of Rick Nash

+

via our friends at Broad Street Hockey. Geoff Detweiler posted this earlier today, so I thought I'd share it here. What is the importance of the +/- statistic anyway?

End of the Shootout?

6

OK I really don't think anyone likes the shootout anymore. I want to know what you guys think about it, and what solutions you have. This article talks about a few ideas. The thought of a 3-on-3 sounds awful. I'm almost of the opinion they should go to a sudden death 20 minute period - someone will have to score eventually. Hit the comments.

The Arniel Affect - Power Play

3

**Please keep in mind this article is written as a hypothetical piece. This is in no way how things will play out this season, but if I'm right that'd be pretty cool** As the start of the 2010-11...

Update on Strength and Conditioning

+

Things to note: - Kevn Collins sounds like one bad dude. He'll get them into shape no questions asked. - The players are already responding well to these workouts. - Boller has already added 10 pounds to his size - I will never run those stairs leading up to the concourse at the arena. Ever.

Columbus Blue Jackets 2010/11 Predictions: Over/Under

12

Ok folks, time for the preseason predictions to begin! I've come up with a few legit over/under bets (if you will) to track this year, along with some...well...more comical predictions. Go ahead,...

Filatov back in the 'bus Wednesday

16

Following up with my FanShot from a few weeks ago - Filatov has told the team, and GM Scott Howson has confirmed, that he will land in Columbus tomorrow. Nikita has kept to his word, by saying he would return in early August. This is a step in the right direction for him to turn the doubters into believers.

The old get older

21

Funny how yesterday we were arguing about the Red Wings age and how the empire will fall probably sooner rather than later. They just got 40 years older by signing Mike Modano to a 1-year contract.

Moreau coming to play

3

Anyone who doubted claiming him should read this. Moreau vows to bring his "A" game.

Meet Joe Thomas at the Ohio State Fair

5

...kind of. This creamy version of Joe Thomas was created after 392 hours and literally 1 ton of butter...that would top off an awful lot of pancakes.

Players to Watch Part 6 - Rostislav Klesla

8

Part Six: Rusty Klesla Now typically you would read a "Player to watch" story about an up-and-coming youngster who has shown some promise from a previous year/season/series etc. We at the Cannon...

Filatov to return to Columbus beginning of August

5

Rest easy, fans, Nikita has informed Columbus GM Scott Howson that he will in fact return in August. It will be about a month before training camp starts up - enough time for him to get settled back in town. Join me in welcoming back the Filatov Cocktail!

Players to Watch Part 2: Antoine Vermette

11

Part Two: Antoine Vermette Much like Jake, Antoine was one of the shining stars on the Jackets roster. A staple of the top line sandwiched between Juice and the man himself, Rick Nash, Vermette...

Browns ink Engram

Holmgren reunites with a former player, Engram, from his Seattle days.
