the most disturbing fact so far (for me, at least) is the fact that ryan tannehill only has one passing TD so far. i understand running the ball and using our strengths, but mike sherman really needs to mix it up a little more. we have to create some form of a passing game, or else, by week 7 or 8, any decent defense will be able to stop us.

Oh no, we lost a game, we suck. were the worst team in the NFL. We're 0-1, we're going 0-16. FIRE IRELAND! FIRE PHILBIN! FIRE TANNEHILL! How can Tannehill be a franchise QB if he throws 3 INTs in one game? In all seriousness, guess who else is 0-1 right now? Yup, every team to win the super bowl since 2005 is currently winless. Thats right, every team to win the super bowl in the last 7 years is winless. Guess who else threw 3 INTs? Yup, Matthew Stafford, who was only the 4th QB to ever break the 5,000 yd mark, Andrew Luck, who was considered the best QB prospect ever, Brandon Weedon, who many people here were saying was a better prospect then tannehill all threw 3 INTs in their week 1 game.

Hello 49ers fans, miami dolphins fan here. I have some questions for you guys, if you don't mind. As you probably know, with brian hartline injured, davone bess is the only starting quality WR on our team. And, as you know better than I do, you seem to have an excess of WRs, with guys like crabtree, moss, manningham, jenkins, williams and ginn. Of course, I'm sure at least one of them may end up cut, and any of them would be a good pickup for us. So, can you guys tell me how you feel about them and which you think is most likely to be released? Thank you, it is much appreciated.

Is it possible the dolphins aren't looking to trade vontae, but are actually talking with the colts about trading bush?

  1. Usually, when a team is looking to trade a player, they dont play them much so they don't get injured. last night, even though almost all of the starters played the first half, reggie was taken out after the first series. Isnt it strange that thomas took most of the 1st team snaps, and reggie barely played even though all the other starters played the whole half?
  2. Daniel Thomas showed that he can be a starting RB last night. he took advantage of every opportunity and got some great yards. steve slaton looked like a dynamite pass catcher out of the backfield and played well all night. we all know what lamar miller can do, with his speed and strength, while marcus thigpen is making a case to stay on the team with his pass catching and return ability.
  3. The packers offense never used speedy RBs, they never even tried to get them. the packers offense was built off of short, horizontal passes and bruising runs that open up the deep pass.
  4. The Colts current starter is Donald brown, not exactly the best backup plan for andrew luck. theyd love to get someone like bush to help out luck, and the dolphins have a lot of depth at the RB position. The only major loss i see from this is the loss of Reggie's leadership, but i think tannehill may replace him to be alongside dansby and long as captain. tannehill's leadership has already drawn praise.
  5. Last night, it was painfully obvious that our WR corps is the worst in the NFL. all of our WRs other than davone Bess were absolute garbage. Hartline should be ready to go by the next preseason game, and his return shoudl help (love him or hate him, you cant argue he is better than any WR on our roster not named davone bess), but even hartline wont solve the problem. bringing someonelike reggie wayne in, however, could solve the issue. Wayne is a legit number 1 WR, and gives a reliable 1-2-3-4 WR corps with Wayne, bess, hartline and either naanee, pruitt or whoever else makes it. Not only can we pull in wayne with this deal, but we could also bring in a draft pick, maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder, which would really set this franchise up for a bright future. and anyone who thinks wayne isnt the WR he used to be or that he was just a product of peyton manning, the dude had 900 yds last year with curtis painter throwing to him, CURTIS PAINTER!

My mid-preseason prediction as to what the dolphins will do in next year's draft: TRADE!!! Miami Dolphins trade QB Matt Moore and a 5th round pick to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for WR James Jones and a 7th rd pick. Matt moore has to be annoyed by the choosing of tannehill as the starting QB, he has been outplayed by pat devlin thus far and david garrard should be in backup condition by week 1, so moore gets shown the door. This allows us to bring a legit west coast starting WR for tannehill, and give us 4 experianced, starting quality WRs (Jones, Bess, Hartline, Naanee). 1. The dolphins take the best available CB/FS here. They need a lot of help in the secondary, and there are a few very talented DBs available. 2. With the 2nd round pick, the dolphins select the best available WR. Naanee and Hartline both have expiring contracts, and only one of them will most likely be brought back, so this pick gives us a young WR that can grow with tannehill. 3(1). Here, the dolphins fortify their O-line. RG is a major hole, and should be addressed here, adding the final piece to a very good O-line for tannehill. 3(1). I highly doubt the Dolphins' secondary problems can be solved with one pick, so I see the dolphins addressing this position once again, just taking the best available CB/S. 4. This is the last Phins pick until the 7th rd (5th rounder gone for jones, 6th rounder gone in the trade up for lamar miller), so they are going to want to make this pick count. I see them picking up another defensive piece here, but a pass rusher instead of a DB. They pick up a pass rusher here to add to their young arsenal. 7(1). Here, the phins will want a developmental pick, and I see them going with a RB. Steve Slaton and Reggie Bush are free agents, and I think the team doesn't want to resign bush and want a committee approach with a dynamic thunder and lightning combination of Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller, but they will still need some backups. I see the phins adding one here, a young, speedy back. 7(2). I see the Dolphins adding yet another DB with this pick. They look for some long term depth and add a developmental DB here, someone with a lot of upside

Let us take the time to thank the great and generious lord of QBs, Tom Brandstater, one of the holy 25 football gods (one god for each position), for recommending our Miami Dolphins to one of his fellow football gods, his most holy Chris Hogan, the Lord of WRs. His holyness has come to this mortal realm to give guidance to the Dolphins after Lord Brandstater's most unfortunate departure to St. Louis. Lord Hogan is the new guardian football god of the Miami Dolphins, the holy football scripture has spoken! All hail the great god of WRs, Lord Chris Hogan!!!

Quick hits from mini camp, day 1 1. Hartline was absent due to an undisclosed injury, Naanee took his spot across from Bess as the starter 2. Garrard took over 50% of the 1st team snaps, with moore and tannehill splitting the rest 3. Moore and tannehill split 2nd team snaps, and Devlin got the majority of the 3rd team snaps 4. Vontae and Richard Marshall have both returned from injury and are playing 5. Tannehill and Ochocinco (who was working 2nd team) seemed to be building a great connection 6. Ochocinco playing very well in the 2nd team 7. Artis Hicks started at RG and Lydon Murtha started at RT, john Jerry and Jon Martin were backups, but Martin played very well and seemed very athletic 8. Reshad Jones and Chris Clemons were starting safeties 9. Reggie Bush and Ocho were working hard on route running 10. During drills, all 4 QBs had excellent zip and accuracy when throwing slant routes, which make up a big part of the WCO playbook's route tree.

My VERY early 2013 mock draft: I am first predicting that we trade Matt Moore before the season starts to some team whose starting QB has been injured and doesn't have a capable backup. We recieve a 3rd rounder in return. We are also picking just inside the top 15. TRADE!!! The Dolphins give their 1st rounder and 2nd rounder to move up into the 7th spot. 1. Robert Woods, WR, USC (We bolster our WR corps with a monster threat who is a perfect fit in the WCO) TRADE!!! Dolphins trade back into the tail end of the 2nd rd, giving up two of their three 3rd rounders 2. TJ McDonald, S, USC (We get a playmaking safety threat in our backfield) 3. Damontre Moore, DE, TAMU (A pass rushing threat who played under Sherman) 4. Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse (Tannehill will start next year, and Moore and Garrard are FAs, with only one possibly returning, provides a long-term backup option) 5. Jonathon Bostic, ILB, UF (Competition/depth at the position 7. Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon (With Bush possibly leaving in FA, adds depth) 3.

Some notes from tweets from rookie camp 1. The run D was dominant 2. Jacory harris fumbled a handoff to miller and a snap 3. T-hill threw an INT with his first pass, but it was cunninghams fault for dropping it, and he threw beautiful passes the rest of practice 4. Devlin and harris completed their 1st two passes to mandich and les brown, respectively. 5. 1st team WRs:Fuller and Cunningham, 2nd team WRs: Egnew and Hogan, 3rd team WRs: Mathews and Moye 6. Martin is already manning the RT spot, seems comfortable there

A lot of you guys really like Kirk Cousins in the 2nd round, so I decided to watch some tape on him, and I was mildly impressed. Here are some of my scouting notes. 1. Played in a spread offense with a lot of screens 2. Lacks velocity on screens and short passes 3. Good accuracy, but occassionally overthrows 4. Good under pressure, gets the ball out before getting hit 5. Rarely went deep 6. Occassionally had a way out there errant pass 7. Great throwing motion and mechanice 8. Occassionally misreads the offense, and fails to go through all progressions, leading to picks 9. A little hesitant on the short pass 10. Deceptive mobility, not the most athletic, but can scramble if needed, no designated QB runs though 11. Excels passing to the sideline 12. Decent footwork, could use some help 13. Good ball placement on short to mid passes, but poor placement on the few deep passes. 14. Played well with a weak O-line.

Just some of my observations.

Our easy schedule - is it a blessing or a curse. Our schedule came out yesterday, and its actually fairly easy. But is it the easyness of our schedule that actually increases the urgency to draft tannehill. If you read Fr8train's rant, I would agree with him, we are an 8-8 team with this schedule and moore/garrard playing. How does this increase the need to draft tannehill? Well, with this schedule, we will be outside the top 15 picks, probably between 15-20. The crux of the anti-tannehill arguement is that we can grab a QB next year. But are you sure what happened this year won't happen again? Let's say Tyler Bray decides to return to college, that leaves barkley, wilson and murray as 1st round options with jones as a borderline 1st rounder. But, there are actually going to be more teams in need of a QB next year. I think most of the following teams will need a QB next year: Jets, Eagles, Browns (unless they get weeden), saints (brees is getting old), chiefs and possibly the broncos, bills and potentially the jaguars. With this many teams possible lookint at a 1st rd QB, and most of them probably picking ahead of us, do you really think even jones, who actually would've been ranked behind tannehill if he had come out this year, will fall down to us? We may have to even end up reaching for someone like EJ Manuel. So, this year, we don't have to worry about that, and will have a QB of the future locked up, without worrying about being TOO GOOD to get one next year.

Just something that I've noticed around here. A lot of people act like tannehill was a projected 3rd rounder before barkley and Jones decided to go back to school instead of the draft. What many peoplle don't remember is that, even before barkley and jones decided they were better suited returning to college, Tannehill was considered by many the 4th best QB prospect in the draft. Even higer than Jones, who many of you want next year. He was already a projected top 20 pick. Barkley going back to college rose his stock from top 20 to top 15. What got him from top 15 to top 10 was his stellar pro day. So, he did not experiance a "huge stock jump" like many say. He was already a projected top 20 pick before barkley and Jones decided to not declare and many had him ranked about Jones

Just some observations of mine
