EA Sports' Madden 2011 unveils a new stat for players: "Swagger", shown with a neat, different little font with the "Old Spice" logo hovering above it.

The stat gives a temporary boost to a player who's involved in a big play, dependent on how high his "Swagger" rating is.

Undoubtedly Housh will be among the few Swaghawks with the highest swagger rating on the team. But to improve the swagger of teammates, the real question is, how does a lesser player turn his swag on? I'll only guess that this can be achieved by equipping a player with a "Your Swagger Sucks" t-shirt and a Subway Five-Dollar-Footlong, ranking up his "Snickers Satisfies" and Doritos Snack-Attack level, and obviously updating his insurance policy with Allstate.

This post isn't a well-sourced, rational analysis. This post also isn't about lamenting the loss of a decent tight-end. He merely joins the shuffle of a loved OLB, decent half-back, promising defensive lineman, and another tight-end switching between only two cities. Maybe it's because I'm a layman football fan, but would anyone feel better if the team we happened to be shuffling players with wasn't known around the league as hosting a near-complete lack of talent? I feel sympathetic for the former 'hawks, being "fed" to the Lions, if you will (mmhmm, I'm not below that one), and uncertain about the ex-Lions we receive.

Soon you won't even know who to root for... do I want to see Julian hulk-out at Qwest and crack Matt's back for another season? The idea is so taboo I'm getting a kick out of it.

Anyone else noticing this strange rapport?
