Asian MMA: URCC Champ Eric Kelly Set To Return Against Bae Young Kwon At ONE FC 4
This weekend, the heads of several of Asia's top MMA promotions, like ONE FC, DREAM (Japan), DEEP (Japan), URCC (Philippines), Road FC (Korea), CFC (Australia), and Dare (Thailand), will all be meeting together at an Asian MMA Summit to discuss several topics, including various ways on how to work better and improve on the ONE FC Network.
Months or years from now, this could potentially turn out to be a milestone event for the region, but as a fan of fights, the news I was more excited about was the newly announced match up for their ONE FC 4 card. That fight, one between Korea's top featherweight prospect, Bae Young Kwon (7-2) and undefeated URCC Champion, Eric Kelly (6-0).
It's a bout that not only provides exciting clash of styles, but is also one that has an interesting story line.
Eric Kelly last fought back in ONE FC's inaugural event last September. The URCC champion stole the show after a thrilling back and forth war against the highly touted Mitch Chilson, which ended up with Kelly putting the Evolve MMA product to sleep. The impressive victory put Kelly on the map, and was originally booked to face Kwon at ONE FC 2. Unfortunately, the Filipino star had personal and managerial problems after. When it led to cancellations of that fight along with a few others, Kelly hasn't had a chance to follow up on the momentum he gained from the biggest win of his career.
In his absence, Honorio Banario, a fellow Filipino URCC champion and a member of Kelly's former camp in Team Lakay, stepped in to face Kwon. Kelly was left helplessly watching from the sidelines, witnessing the Korean fighter submit his former teammate in just seconds.
As I spoke to a frustrated Kelly after the event, he was visually disappointed that a fellow Filipino had taken a loss after having to step in on short notice to take his place. He knew that part of the blame fell on the decisions he made leading to the event. He knew it should've been him in the cage, and he was confident that the outcome would've been different.
On June 23rd, he will finally have that chance to prove that. He's put those issues in the past, and now he's just focused and ready for a good scrap.

Asian MMA: Roger Huerta Vs. Phil Baroni Set For ONE FC 4 In Malaysia
Yesterday, we brought you news about Roger Huerta signing with ONE Fighting Championship, stating that he was set to compete on the promotion's fourth show next month in Malaysia.
Now we know who he's facing. As I mentioned on twitter yesterday, there have been rumblings about Huerta continuing his run at welterweight against Phil Baroni, and just a few short hours ago, they have put pen to paper, making the bout official for June 23rd.
The duo became good friends as they spent an extended period training in Thailand. I asked Phil about the idea of facing a buddy and a former training partner, and he makes no qualms about it, saying "(My manager) Monte Cox points, and I shoot. I guess its a fight."
Considering the circumstances, it may not have been the fight that people expected, but it is definitely guaranteed to be an entertaining scrap. Unlike some instances we see in MMA, they're both willing to set things aside for a date in the cage, even promising to celebrate with some "cobra blood shots" right after.

UFC 146 Video: Junior Dos Santos Fulfills Dreams Of Brazilian Family, Flies Them To Vegas For Frank Mir Bout
Junior dos Santos started out in humble background growing up in Brazil. He has turned his life around with Martial Arts and has made a nice life for his family as his UFC career blossomed. The defending champion hasn't forgotten his roots though, and this week, he even fulfilled the dreams of this 9-year-old Brazilian kid, who reminded him a bit of himself growing up.
More quotes from the boy as he details his overwhelming experience after the jump.

Asian MMA Update: Roger Huerta, Escobar, Praxedes Added To ONE FC 4, Bob Sapp Gets Booked In Korea
There's a bunch of news coming out of the Asian MMA scene, so as always, here's a quick round up:
- The biggest news coming out from the region is that Roger Huerta has signed with ONE Fighting Championship and will be making his debut at ONE FC 4, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Word of the signing comes from Mike Chiappetta, who confirmed the news from Huerta's management.
Huerta, who has spent a lot of time training in Asia, will be looking to rebound after taking tough losses to Bellator champs Pat Curran, and Eddie Alvarez, along with that gritty welterweight bout against War Machine back in November of last year.
No word yet on who the UFC and Bellator veteran will face, but there are plenty of candidates in ONE FC's stacked lightweight roster which includes Shinya Aoki, Ole Laursen, Zorobabel Moreira, and Eduard Folayang among others. - Also on the ONE FC card, BJJ Champions are going head-to-head as Marcos Escobar and Rodrigo Praxedes have been booked for a welterweight contest. This match up will be the third bout in the card which pits two BJJ black bets against each other, which the other two being Leandro Issa vs. Masakazu Imanari and Gregor Gracie vs. Adam Kayoom.
More news, along with the full fight card of the event can be seen after the jump. -- Follow me on twitter @antontabuena

Stephan Bonnar Vs. Forrest Griffin 3? Bonnar Still Campaigning For TUF Coaching Slot
Would you be interested in a rematch of one of the best and most important fights in UFC and MMA history? Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar locked horns 7 years ago, and it changed the landscape of Mixed Martial Arts. Bonnar wants to not only recreate this, but he also wants to one-up that.
The American Psycho again campaigned hard for a TUF coaching slot against Griffin, and he did it during the latest episode of Spike TV's MMA Uncensored.
Check out as Bonnar makes his case after the jump.
Video: Shabe Kafo Lands Twister Submission During CFC 21 Bout In Australia
You probably heard about Australia's CFC 21 this past weekend because of that embarrassing performance from Bob Sapp, where he rolled over and tapped to strikes in 12 seconds. What you probably didn't know, is that there was a rare submission that was executed on that card.
Somewhere, Eddie Bravo is smiling as Australian flyweight Shabe Kafo (6-2) landed one of his trademark moves during the second round of his bout against Kian Pham. Check out as Kafo finished the fight with 'The Twister':

The submission was originally a wrestling move called the guillotine, which was then popularized by Eddie Bravo in JiuJitsu circles. A handful of people have landed the slick submission in MMA, with the first twister finish in the UFC coming from 'The Korean Zombie' Chan Sung Jung back in March of last year.

Video: Legend FC Documentary - 'Legendary: The Rise Of MMA In Asia'
Here's an interesting documentary called 'Legendary: The Rise Of MMA In Asia', which provides an inside look at Legend FC, a promotion which hosts shows mostly in Macau and Hong Kong.
Filmed around Legend Fighting Championship 7 at Macau's City of Dreams, "Legendary" takes a look at the rise of MMA in the Asia-Pacific against the backdrop of the February 2012 Legend Welterweight Championship fight between Bae Myung Ho and Li Jingliang.
Filmmakers Euan McKirdy and James Wong interview some of the fighters, coaches, organizers, journalists, and other people who are hard at work developing the Asia-Pacific into MMA's newest frontier and largest potential market.
From the exhaustion of the weigh-in to the tension of pre-fight preparations to the fights themselves, McKirdy and Wong give fans a new level of access and insight into the rise of MMA in Asia.
The video is well made, and I highly suggest watching it:
Legend FC's next event is on June 16th, and it will have Li Jingliang who was featured on this video, taking on top prospect, Dan Pauling as the co-headliner. Also on the card is a 4-man bantamweight tournament, and a title eliminator for Jadamba Narantungalag's belt. Check out the current fight card here, and a promo for the event after the jump.

Video: Korean Zombie Vs. Dustin Poirier Gracie Breakdown Featuring UFC Founder Rorion Gracie
In a special edition of Gracie Breakdown, Rener and Ryron are joined by their brother Ralek and their father, Rorion Gracie, a 9th Degree Red Belt, who is also the founder of the UFC. They break down the exciting UFC on FUEL TV 3's headlining bout between the 'Korean Zombie', Chan Sung Jung and Dustin Poirier:
In this bonus Gracie Breakdown, Ryron and Rener are joined by Ralek and their father, Grand Master Rorion, from the Sandestin Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida. They were supposed to be on vacation for the 2012 Gracie Immersion Camp, but they received so many Facebook and Twitter requests for the Korean Zombie fight from last week that they had no choice but to keep it real. Together they analyze the spectacular double leg takedown counter by the Zombie in round two and then they discuss the beautiful submission chain from round two as well as the D'arce choke that was used to seal the deal in round four. Jiu-jitsu is beautiful

I'm not sure if you forgot, but UFC 146 is this Saturday, and to remind you of it, Zuffa has released a unique video for the event. I don't know what is going on, but to put it nicely, let's just say that the UFC has just made an "unconventional" and retro promo video for this weekend's card stacked with heavyweights.
See for yourself:
The video was released today, but it's already a bit outdated as they still have the injured Mark Hunt on the promo. Check out the adjusted and final fight card after the jump.

Photo: Daniel Cormier And Josh Barnett Both Broke Their Hands During Strikeforce Bout
Following last night's main event bout which crowned a Heavyweight Grand Prix winner and a new Strikeforce champion, Josh Barnett mentioned that he had broken his hand during the first round of the contest. Pictured on the right is the x-ray of Barnett's hand, which came with this message:
Here's what happened in the first :30...still threw it though. Of course that might not have so wise LOL.
The experienced veteran gutted through and toughed it out until the final bell, but it looks like his opponent, Daniel Cormier also had to go through a similar ordeal.
After the jump, the new Strikeforce champion talks about re-injuring the same hand he broke against Antonio Silva.

Usually it's the kicker that gets his shin broken on this rare type of injury, but this occasion is even more uncommon as the guy being kicked was the one who got the worst of the exchange.
His shin breaks without him noticing at first, and the fight continues for several more seconds before anyone noticed.

UFC Veteran Paul Kelly's Home Raided During Drug Bust In England
According to a report from the Liverpool Echo (HT: MMA Convert), former UFC fighter, Paul Kelly (12-5), along with several others, has been arrested and charged for drug offenses after a drug bust in Liverpool, England.
Cannabis, ammunition, and "drugs believed to be heroin" were reportedly found in the several locations that were raided during the sting. From the report:
THREE men were charged with drug offences last night after raids across Merseyside.
Police swooped on addresses in Liverpool and Sefton yesterday and arrested six men and a woman after seizing Class A drugs and firearms ammunition. The force’s Matrix unit supported by neighborhood officers executed the dawn raids and also confiscated large amounts of money.
...
Christopher McGirr, 27, of Carina Court, Aigburth, and Paul Kelly, 27, of Swanside Road, Knotty Ash, were charged with conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs. Paul Rogers, 27, of Smithford Walk, Roby, was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
All three men were held in custody and were due to appear at Liverpool magistrates court this morning.
Kelly has since responded, saying there was nothing illegal found on his Liverpool home:
Kelly compiled a (4-4) record in the UFC and last fought in the promotion on February 2011, losing to top contender, Donald Cerrone. After being released by the promotion, the Brit competed in Super Fight League 2, losing to Ryan Healy by a lopsided decision.

Tweets Of The Day: After Getting Stripped Of M-1 Global Title, Vinny Magalhaes Sells Belt On Ebay
It's no secret that Vinny Magalhaes and M-1 Global don't like each other, but today, things just got even more interesting. Shortly after M-1 has stripped him of his Light Heavyweight title, the ADCC and BJJ champion responded in a unique way -- by selling his M-1 belt on ebay.
Magalhaes hilariously started the bidding at 9 cents with free shipping, and has since received dozens of bids. As of this writing the belt is already worth over $2000, and if any of you want that glorious piece of MMA memorabilia, you still have 9 days to get right in.
After the jump, check out several of Vinny's tweets making fun of the situation.

Asian MMA: 4-Man Legend FC Bantamweight Tournament Among 8 Fights Set For LFC 9
An injury has forced Adrian Pang out of the previously reported title eliminator against Koji Ando (6-3), and much like what happened on Legend FC 8, Australian brawler, Rob Hill (10-5) will step in on short notice to save the show against the top Japanese prospect. The promotion recently announced the headlining change, and still promised the winner a title shot for the lightweight strap currently held by Jadamba Narantungalag.
Co-headlining the card will be rising Australian star, Dan Pauling (8-0), taking on a former number 1 contender from China, Li Jingliang (6-2).
Also announced for the card is the start of a 4-man bantamweight tournament set to crown a new champion after Jumabieke Tuerxun (12-0) was stripped of the title and is currently mired in a contractual battle with China-based promotion RUFF. First match ups include former champ, Yao Honggang (6-3) taking on dangerous Filipino striker, Augusin Delarmino (6-1), and Japanse prospect Taiyo Nakahara (12-7) going against former Legend bantamweight GP finalist, Jo Nam Jin (6-4).
Sources close to the promotion have also informed BloodyElbow.com 4 more bouts that have been booked for the card. Check out the promo and the current card for this June 15th event after the jump.

KSW 19: Mariusz Pudzianowski Vs. Bob Sapp Fight Video
Former World's Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski won for the first time since defeating Butterbean back in September of 2010. Sadly it was just against Bob Sapp who once again, came in solely to collect a pay check and didn't even pretend to try and show even an ounce of offense this time. Sapp just covered up, and took punches until the ref stopped it in 39 seconds, extending his embarrassing streak of losses.
The fight headlined KSW 19, and while I know they desperately want Pudz to get a win, when will promotions ever learn that no one would take it seriously if it's against Bob Sapp?

Nick Diaz No-Shows Grappling Super-Fight Against Braulio Estima
Nick Diaz is at it again.
When he didn't show up for Press Conferences in the past, Diaz got punished and even cost him a title shot against Georges St. Pierre. He says he just didn't enjoy attending "beauty pageants", but he would never ditch a fight anyway.
That's exactly what he did tonight though. Diaz had a grappling super-fight against Braulio Estima set, with his entire purse was supposed to be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. It was supposed to be an excellent way to keep him active during his time off from licensing issues due to his Marijuana positive test. It was supposed to be a good way to keep his name in the press, and to help a good cause at the same time.
During the main event of the World Jiujitsu Expo, Braulio Estima was left alone on the mat, sitting on his knees, with Diaz no where to be found. Robert Drysdale offered to step in to face him, but Estima declined, saying "I came to fight Nick Diaz".
Not only did Diaz ditch a high-profile BJJ match, he ditched a charity he promised to support.
Asian MMA: Gregor Gracie Vs. Adam Kayoom Among 3 Additional Fights Booked For ONE FC 4
ONE FC 4 is set for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 23, and it will be headlined by Renato Sobral vs. Tatsuya Mizuno and Masakazu Imanari vs. Leandro Issa. Three more fights have been added to card recently:
- Gregor Gracie (6-1), who was victorious at ONE FC 1 last September, will be stepping in hostile territory as he takes on Malaysia's top star, Adam Kayoom (2-1), who is a BJJ Blackbelt and Muay Thai champion with black belts in multiple traditional martial arts such as Aikido, Taekwondo and Karate.
- Evolve MMA's Eddie Ng (5-1), who has been nothing short of spectacular on his two outings with the promotion, will be taking a big step up in competition. Ng only needed 88 seconds to dispatch of two opponents, including Malaysian kickboxing champ, Jian Kai Chee at ONE FC 3. His next opponent will be Jian's head coach from MuayFit, Arnaud Lepont (9-1), who will try to avenge his teammate's loss in front of his adopted home country of Malaysia.
- Lastly, sources close to the situation have informed BloodyElbow.com about a third match that is yet to be announced by the promotion. 20-year-old Malaysian rising star, Allamurad Karayev (9-0), has been signed and he will be taking on Team Lakay's Roldan Sangcha-an, a Wushu fighter making his professional MMA debut after making his rounds in the Philippine amateur scene.
On paper it looks like a bad mismatch having a 9-0 face a guy making his pro debut, but to be honest I wouldn't just count out a Team Lakay fighter.
