ESPN predicts the Las Vegas bowl. I don't want to give anything away, but most BtD readers will like the prediction. Hint-hint. Nudge-nudge. Still can't believe I get to watch that game tomorrow. I guess there are some things to smile about today.
Cliff K. covers the final practice of the year. Sounds like it was a good showing and, more importantly, injury free.

In case you haven't noticed, both BYU and Oregon State recruit heavily in the Polynesian community, creating competition off the field on the recruiting trail.
Sean Mannion might just be the next big thing at quarterback for the Beavers. The early commit put up huge numbers this year and seems to be a great fit for OSU's pro-style offense.

Ryan Katz wants Canfield's job and sees the TCU game as a great opportunity. I'm personally pulling for Katz next year, which of course means Peter Lalich will end up starting.
John Canzano gets a lot of crap in this market for his coverage of the Ducks (too critical), his coverage of the Blazers (too harsh and inflammatory) and the Beavers (too little). His column on the incarcerated James Rodgers Sr. was a great read and a reason to not only get off Canzano's back but to respect the efforts of Jacquizz, James and all of their family who helped get them to where they are today. This story is common, but the outcome is not. Proud to have the Rodgers brothers on campus in Corvallis.

You want to know what sucks? If you answered CBS' The Big Bang Theory (awful show-what a waste of hot chicks), you are technically right, but I'm talking what sucks in regards to the last 24 hours of Beaver athletics.

I liked it better when that one dude was on Roseanne and the other two dudes were doing whatever they were doing before this awful, awful show was on TV. Is that a USC Cowboy outfit?

Here's what sucks: OSU loses to Illinois-Chicago and Robo ~~Cop~~ Kreps (who, by the way, tied his career high point total with 19--awesome name, awesome on court production--including the game winner). Unbelievable. I think ConnorOSU most accurately summarized my feelings during his post game F-bomb laced tirade. This team has a short amount of time to get its collective crap together. Here's a local, Chicago take on the game.

And much like their basketball counterparts, OSU football players were also engaged in charitable activities this week. In all seriousness, this is just what you want to see kids representing your program doing all year long. Go Beavs!

So here's some good news: Soph. righty Sam Gaviglio is named to a preseason All America team. This hoops team almost has me looking on to baseball season early but I'm trying to remain patient.

First off, Quizz is the front page of the CFB section of ESPN. Looks like he's the poster boy for the pre-Christmas bowls. Enjoy it until they change it to a picture of Tim Tebow.

Nick Daschel at Buster Sports has picked his way-too-early PAC 10 Champ for 2010. Spoiler alert: It's the Beavs.
Don't know if you saw it already, but Daschel also put up a season report card for the PAC 10. Worth a look.
Bruce Feldman of ESPN is also going Doc Brown on us, looking into next year's Heisman prospects. Our favorite running back from Lamar Consolidated down in Texas (hint, it's JACQUIZZ RODGERS) gets top future-honors in Feldman's book.

Even though my post-Civil War hangover has long since passed, I've been busy as hell with end of semester grad school crap and an increased workload at the office. Oh yeah, and the holidays. The stupid, stupid holidays. Shopping and partying with people I work with are two of the lamest activities ever. I'm pretty sure Jesus would puke if he knew that I celebrated his birthday by going broke buying crap for family and friends and snacking on bad baked goods with people I don't really like...

Anyway, the Vegas Bowl looks like a good match, so at least I can look forward to that, right? The last time we were there went pretty well...

Here's a good blog entry from some guy at the SLC Tribune. It quotes Coach Riley a lot, so you know it's full of f-bombs, disparaging remarks about BYU's players and some Belotti-like condescension... or not.

Our good friends over at "Spit Blood" (TCU blog) sound excited about the pending match up at Cowboy Stadium. Some are calling a MWC beatdown on the PAC 10, others are showing The Brothers Rodgers some respect (Though not enough to spell their name right. Come on dude, they're from effin' Texas!?).

Some Beaver news from The Portland Tribune. Included is some not-so-great news about Roberto Nelson, arguably the top recruit in Coach Robinson's first recruiting class.

The 6-3 Nelson – who turned down offers from UCLA, Southern Cal, Florida, Ohio State and Tennessee to sign with the Beavers – has been a part-time student at OSU this fall while waiting word from the Clearinghouse. OSU officials are putting together a last-ditch waiver to see if the courses can be deemed creditable, with hopes of hearing shortly after New Year’s at the latest.

This is bad, especially if we want to keep him here in Corvallis. If not cleared this season, Nelson is no longer bound to the college and is free to go elswhere to play his college ball. Here's hoping something can be pulled together in time for him to get into some games this year.

Buker has some information on OSU at the Vegas Bowl. Here's my favorite tidbit:

On that note, Riley said OSU was likely to be allowed one blowout night in LV, with a curfew of 1 or 2 a.m. "We'll let them stay out a little bit and explore,'' he said.

Here's hoping Richard "Big Pimpin'" Seigler leaves our current players alone before kickoff. They need their energy, Rich.

Bleacher Report thinks BYU wins this one. It looks like more than half of readers polled disagree with this prediction.
Sean Canfield and Keaton Kristick will get an opportunity to showcase their talents beyond the bowl game.
Cliff Kirkpatrick has video on the Vegas bowl as well as some recruiting updates... again, not all good news.

Amazing times we're living in. Sure, there's a bunch of important stuff going on outside of the State of Oregon, but can anyone really think of anything other than the upcoming Civil War? This winner take all match up will make the next week and a half go soooooo slowly that we'll all be pulling our hair out waiting for kick off. Can't they just play it tonight? Please? Please?!

Great news: Coug week is officially over.
The Beavers and that other team from The Beaver State top Ted Miller's PAC 10 rankings. As an Oregonian, it's nice to see the rest of the PAC 10 looking to the best state in the Pacific Northwest for its champion. Miller also points out that we really want to win the Civil War, mmm k? Oh, and Lyle Moevao is tweeting. I'd prefer injured players refrain from tweeting bulletin board material but you know what, who cares.

More on the possible bowl mess. The Beavers could make things so simple if they'd just win come December 3.

Cliffy K. notes that this is the second year in a row that OSU has been in the running for the Rose Bowl. It'll be nice to have the bye week AND Quizz this time around.Here's to staying healthy and preparation! (Mr. Banker, you should be watching some tape right about now.)

The "Not Cool" award for the week goes to Arizona fans. All joking aside, Arizona has just zero control over their crowd. The premature emptying of the stands is symptomatic of a team that simply hasn't been there before and doesn't know how to handle winning big games, but throwing big heavy things at people is something else entirely. I know Arizona is a tough place to live but come on guys, don't take it out on other states' schools.

Cougar week... will it ever end? Sorry about the past few days, work sometimes gets in the way of what's truly important in life. But without much further ado or fluff, here are some links...

BtD's own Jake Bertalotto rocks the mic (or cell phone) over at Coug Center in this preview.

Bob Condotta up at the Seattle Times points out an interesting statistic in his PAC 10 picks for this week: the Beavers have turned the ball over the fewest amount of times in the conference (seven) while the Cougs have couged the ball away the most in the PAC 10 (28!).

Numbers don't lie - the offense has been great this year.
