2 Year Anniversary

Hey y'all, just letting you guys know that today, October 16th, is my two-year anniversary of my membership here at PPP.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the overlords, of course, and the many many commenters that make this place amazing. I've met over a dozen of you and everyone has been friendly, knowledgeable, approachable and truculent. There isn't a single bad one in the bunch. By and large the members of this site give an excellent impression of what true Leaf fans are all about and it has been an absolute pleasure to converse with you all on a daily basis.

The irony of my two years of membership coinciding with the worst two seasons I've ever witnessed the Maple Leafs go through is not lost on me, and I'm looking forward to seeing this team make their journey to the promised land with all of you wonderful people beside me.

Here's to another great year of commenting.

Go Leafs Go.

Mike Zigomanis Appreciation Overflow

The Original Zigomanis Post is so perfectly green that I think a new one is needed.

Pension Plan Puppets Five Reasons I Love Hockey

Because I don't have nearly enough black t-shirts, I had to go ahead and enter this contest so I can add the glorious 'Hackey Night' shirt to my collection.

Here we go, in no particular order...

5 - The Stanley Cup - Easy. No other trophy in major professional team sports lists the names of every player on the winning team on the trophy. No matter what happens to you after you've won a Stanley Cup, nothing will ever take your name off that beautiful piece of hardware. No other trophy allows you to drink beer out of it in the dressing room. No other trophy spends a day with every player who earned the right to hold it over the summer. No other trophy comes close. End of story.

Pension Plan Puppets A Message From Viktor Stålberg

Hi everybody, Viktor Stålberg here! First, let me just thank you all for your unwavering support through the first 10% of the season. It was your loud and outspoken show of positive emotion that motivated me to lead the NHL in pre-season scoring and kept me motoring throughout the beginning of the season.

Leafs 2nd round pick (58th overall) Jesse Blacker was traded from the Windsor Spitfires to the Owen Sound Platers Attack.

Blacker had tough competition in Windsor, behind Ryan Ellis and Cam Fowler.

Pension Plan Puppets Phil Kessel: Examining 'The Marc Savard Effect'

Editor's Note: Archidemies is sick and tired of hearing about "The Marc Savard Effect". He goes through all 42 goals and provides the play-by-play. Join him in his adventure and see what all of the fuss is about. Someday maybe we'll even get to see him in the blue and white.

Chemmy Note: Also check out Gus Katsaros' analysis of the Savard-Kessel pairing at Maple Leafs Hot Stove.

If you're anything at all like me, one of the first arguments you heard against the Toronto Maple Leafs signing Phil Kessel was that he attributed a large percentage of his goals to the superior playmaking exploits of Marc Savard. Apparently we Leaf fans were blind to the fact that Savard had been spoonfeeding the 21-year old with tap-ins and unmissable cross-ice one-timers. I generally took these people at their word, because I couldn't possibly be bothered to watch someone other than the Maple Leafs play hockey.

Curious to see this wizard Savard in action, I quickly sought out any media I could find to get a hold of this sublime passing ability.

Luckily, I stumbled across this video, which contains all 42 goals Phil Kessel scored for the Boston Bruins in 2008-2009

For the sake of fun, lets go through this goal-by-goal.

A funny story from 2007 about Jay Rosehill stealing a car when he was in the AHL.

Did I mention he stole it from a strip club?

And did I mention that he then drove it to a DIFFERENT strip club?

This is one of the best promotions I've ever heard of...

Smirnoff Vodka has teamed up with the Phoenix Coyotes to offer hockey fans a chance to catch the April 7th game against the St Louis Blues game when you purchase a bottle of 1.75l Smirnoff Red Label or Flavored Vodka at any participating retailer.

Smirnoff is the Arizona's #1 vodka by volume and we encourage all fans to drink responsibly either at the game or watching at home.

Pension Plan Puppets Christmas Contest - The Airing Of Greivances

Last month, long-time Maple Leafs Carlo and Steener were traded to St. Louis for "Top-6 forward" Lee Stempniak.

Today, true to Festivus spirit, I'm here to air my greivances with that very 'top-6 forward', and outline the ways in which he has disapointed me this year.

Pension Plan Puppets Memories Of Wendel

Regardless of how many people across the globe are going to spend the next 2 days waxing retrospective of how much they, individually, loved Wendel Clark, we all know that it's impossible to have 'too much Wendel', unless you were unlucky enough to drop the gloves against him.

As you all know, Wendel Clark was drafted 1st overall in the 1985 Entry Draft.

I was born in October of 1985 (5 days after Wendel!).

As the math would suggest, for the first 8 years of my life, I did not know a world without Wendel Clark as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
