Jamaal #6 in S.I. top 12 running backs

Jamaal checks in at number six in Sports Illustrated's top 12 running back prospects in the draft. I find it a bit odd, however, that he is listed ahead of Ray Rice, Steve Slaton, and Mike Hart. I sill feel like Jamaal is undersized, but perhaps it's just my perception from watching him since his freshman days.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mul...

While it's not front page news on ESPN, I think it is important to mention that Coach Gustafson's son Deron recently passed away. I don't know much about him other than he played for his dad at Texas in the early 80s and stayed on as an assistant after his playing days. A sad and premature loss for the Gustafson family.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/...

The Austin-American Statesman is reporting that Finley informed UT officials of his intent to enter the draft. Seems like we barely had a chance to see what he can do. Best of luck to him--just one more reason for me to pay attention to Sundays in the fall. Do we have a stock pile of TE hanging around? Who will fill his shoes?

I've seen many of you mention how difficult it is to watch Texas B-ball when it is only offered on very specific cable packages. This may have been mentioned here already, but most of the FullCourt games are also offered live on ESPN360.com. I'm not sure what the subscription costs are, but I know with certain internet packages, it is included. I have Verizon DSL, for instance, and ESPN360 is included. Just thought I would pass the word along (I didn't realize this for quite some time).

On a side note...perhaps it is the color scheme on my screen, but the burnt orange in the drum looks a pretty red to me. Anyone else seeing red?

For those of us scattered about the country (and world!), keeping in touch with current events surrounding the 40 acres can be a little tricky. However, in a forum over on hornfans.com, there are some great December pics of the ongoing construction at DKR-TM Stadium. I cannot wait to return to Austin for a game in the near future! Enjoy...

http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwth...

Bumped from the diaries. As expected, we're headed to San Diego. DMN confirmation, as well. Honestly, a good matchup for Texas, despite our disappointment in the end of the year. --PB--

Austin American Statesman is reporting that Texas is headed to the Holiday Bowl to face Arizona State:

"Texas has accepted an invitation to the Holiday Bowl, where it will face Arizona State.

The bowl game was once the Longhorns’ home away from home, but this will mark their first appearance in San Diego since 2003.

The game will be played Dec. 27."
