Corey Hart, Rickie Weeks, And Aramis Ramirez

The 2012 season was a disapointment. Between a horible bulpen situation, Rickie Weeks having the worst season of his life, and a payroll pushing 100 million the year was a loss. Reviewing the season in my head i, the forever future thinker, started thinking about what will happen in the next couple years. We have a good veteran core locked up for mutiple years (Braun, Gallardo, Weeks, Lucroy), and some young players with team control (Segura, Fiers, Peralta, Thornburg). The biggest question I see is payroll. Will we ever see another $100 million team? Maybe one da, but not in the near future. So lets look at the BIG contracts that could be expendable at the trade deadline and if that player leaves who would fill that position.

1. Corey Hart- Last year of his contract and could net us a good prospect or 2. His replacement for this year would be either Matt Gamel or Taylor Green.

2. Aramis Ramirez- He is making 10 million this year and 16 million next year. Thats ALOT of money. Due to the size of his contract the return in a trade could be less than we think. His replacement would be the same as Hart, Gamel or Green.

3. Rickie Weeks- Highest paid player on the brewers this year. He is locked up threw 2015. His value is low right now due to his troubles last season and size of contract. Who would replace him? Scooter Gennett isnt ready yet (but he may be a september call up if he continues to improve)? Taylor Green?

Heres the way i think the brewers should go

Trade Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart. We would get some good prospects in return and clear up alot of salary room. Have Matt Gamel take over at 1st and Taylor Green at 3rd. At september call ups bring up Scooter Gennett. Play Gennett at second and play Weeks at third (Whoa did he just say weeks at 3rd base? Yes I did!)

I want to see rickie weeks end up at 3rd base. He has the arm, the glove, and has shown the offense to play at 3rd. His biggest problem on deffense is when he has time to think. Rickie Weeks is a Doer not a Thinker. 3rd base is much more of a reaction possition. perfect for weeks and clears 2nd base for Scooter Gennett.

The big thing to note here is that the 4th best team didnt make the playoffs due to having 2 divisions.

What is a realistic return for Zack Greinke

With all this speculation about Zack Greinke, I am left wondering what would be a reasonable and realistic return for him in a trade? Should we expect a similar deal as CC Sabathia? More? Less? Or has the new CBA rules lowered the trade value of players on the last year of their contract? With teams like the Nationals, Yankees, and Rangers interested could we get 2 of their top ten prospect and a MLB player in return? Would you rather have Mason Williams and Manny Banuelos from the yankees, Anthony Rendon and Matt Purke from the Nationals, or Martin Perez and Mike Olt from the Rangers(I would do a straight up deal for Jurickson Profar but that wont happen). Is that hopefull thinking or is it close to what it would take? AAAANNNNNDDDDD GGGOOOOOOOOOOOO!

New franchise football league

Time for a new hitting coach?

This offseaon the Brewers hired Johnny Narron as the new hitting coach to replace Dale Sveum. Was this the right move? Did he have enough credentials? How will he compare to Dale Sveum? After two months of the MLB season we can start to evaluate his performance. The offense statistically Is performing ok. The issue is consitancy and approach. It seems to me like Johnny Narron cannot notice the small veriances in a players swing that can make them go from an All star to a .150 batting average. In the case of Rickie Weeks it comes down to timing mechanism. His bat waggle sets his swing and is his timing mechanism in his swing. Could there be a slight veriance from prior years? I don't know, but i am not the hitting coach. Rickie Weeks needs a good hitting coach to help keep his swing in order.

Next we have Brooks Conrad. He was tearing it up in AAA. Before his first call up he was hitting around .400. He gets called up and goes 0-21. He gets sent back down and starts hitting .400 again. When he was asked what the difference was he said that his hitting coach in AAA noticed his hand were starting lower in his stance which caused his swing to start slower and inturn late on pitches. Why didnt the MLB hitting coach catch this? It seems like one of the first things you would look at.

Now we need to ask our selves who else could we have had? I say that Sandy Guerrero should have gotten the job. Who is Sandy Guerrero you may ask? He was the hitting coach for AA huntsville from 03-08 then from 09-11 he was the hitting coach for AAA Nashville. He was called up to the MLB in 2010 as interim hitting coach for the Dale Sveum led Brewers. Rickie Weeks, Prince Fielder, Corey Hart, and Ryan Braun have all sung his praise. He has also thrown to Weeks, Prince(twice) and Hart for the Homerun Derby. He is currently the Brewers Minor League Hitting Coordinator.

With Sandy Guerrero still in the organization and Johnny Narron struggling to help anyone one the team, why is he still on the team? Could it be that his brother is the bench coach or is it because he kept Josh Hamilton mostly sober. Whatever the reason may be he should be shown the door right now.
