I have been a big Pirates fan since I was born. Although the Battlin' Bucs have been a losing franchise for some time now, I have never lost my fanhood. Having studied the Pirates lore of old (especially the 1960 WS), Roberto Clemente is my favorite Bucco of all time. I strongly believe that greatness returns to where it has been before, and the Pirates will one day be restored to that greatness. Let's Go Bucs!

Bullpen
I wholeheartedly blame the Pirates bullpen for going 3-7 in their last 10 games. Chavez and Yates look like AA minor-leaguers, and Donnie Veal doesn't get enough playing time to be consistent. It doesn't help that there has been no hitting to back up the pitching staff either. The series against the Brewers has been just hard to watch. I suggest that the Pirates take Brandon Moss out of the lineup, don't play Chavez or Yates, and change up the batting order.
The current state of the Pirates
The Pirates stand at a respectable 9-6 now. They just polished off a three game sweep against the hottest team in baseball. Things are looking up for the Bucs but they have to keep plugging away. What they cannot afford to do is give up by July like they have in past seasons. I firmly believe that our beloved Bucs can break the streak this season, and that they will do that through keeping up the stellar effort on the mound. My optimism grows daily about this team and I hope that all the Pirates fans in hiding come out to support their hometown club as I do (believe me, I live in the Burgh and there are tons).
