Hogs Haven Big Washington Redskin drama is brewing... Here we go again

Snyder is threatening legal action against the Washington City Paper for a critical story published in November. Snyder wants the author fired. I can't help but wonder if by challenging the article, Snyder is actually reinforcing David McKenna's thesis that Dan Snyder is the same old guy.

If you haven't read this great article yet heres the link. I heard of it but it was just made its way to me today since the media is blowing this story up. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/articles/40063/the-cranky-redskins-fans-guide-to-dan-snyder/

I really wasn't expecting a big horah until the McNabb and Haynesworth drama caught up to this off season or the next attempt to buy a super bowl via free agency, but Dan Snyder is opening the circus extra early..  The media is getting all over this, i think its going to be a main topic for radio/espn. Add this  to the long list of possible distractions for next season and the rest of the leauge continues to laugh their asses off at the skins, this is a big deal.

Hogs Haven Jeff Fisher of Tennessee Titans Overrated? Possible candidate for the Cowboys Headcoach

Overrated. A word normally reserved for ultra hyped teams who fail to live up to the hype. A word reserved for athletes who are highly drafted can’t-fail prospects coming out of college but flop. A word chanted by countless college students in the gym and on the field when their team upsets the favorite

But can NFL coaches be overrated?

Fisher has compiled a win-loss record of just 136-110   5-6 (Postseason) in his tenure as coach. Fisher for his slate of five winning seasons, Six losing seasons, and Five 8-8 season.

Granted all that said id much rather have him as a head coach than shanahan because he occasionally pulls off a winning season but is very inconsistantly, but I think if the cowboys decided to hire him instead of sticking with Jason Garrett it would be a mistake. There has been a lot of speculation that Jerry Jones is interested in a high profile coach and that Jeff Fisher wants to coach in Dallas next year. I actually like the idea because the cowboys would likely be wildly inconsistant season to season and if shanahan ever straightens out he could probably take advantage of the situation.. But which coach do you think makes the cowboys tougher to play?

Hogs Haven It's time for Snyder to step in. Agree or Disagree?

We've all heard the old saying "be careful what you wish for because you might get it". As fans when Vinny was fired and  the supposed  "football people" Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan took over football operations we got what we wanted right?

A decade of mismanagement, wasting draft picks, and overspending was over so we thought. Who could of predicted that almost the complete opposite would happen and Dan Snyder would finally have a justifiable reason to step in?

Shanahan realized Donovan McNabb was not the right fit for his offense and decided to cut his loses early, Snyder should do the same. Yes im saying Shanahan is going to fail, the day after the season ends he should be shown the door. No, I am not implying Snyder should hire Vinny and do it his way again but there is a guy named Bill Parcels out there.. Snyder can do this inderictly. Hire Parcells to a job similar to what he did in Miami as a overseer, he can make the right decisions on hiring a GM, Coach, and QB.  I'd guess he'd fire Mike Shanahan and completely gut out the redskins trading for every draft pick he could get.

Snyder will prove nothing by leaving Shanahan in a few more years to fail, a guy that incompetent cannot make this franchise successful.

Snyder needs to realize he had the right idea but hired the wrong people. Not to blame him, who would of thought a 2x SB coach would appear so idiotic. The recent squabbles between the Shanahan family and McNabbs agents are just more proof.  If he keeps Shanahan and it fails Snyder will revert back to his old ways, if he tries again and hires the right people the future will be something to look forward to. They suck, they all suck and their a circus at this point.

Hogs Haven Scenario, Redskins could not only make the playoffs but also win the divsion if they win out

Scenario Of course first and foremost the Redskins must win out

The Eagles 8-4 (2-1 in division)

Loss to Cowboys 8-5 (2-2)

Beat Giants 9-5 (3-2)

Lose to Viking 9-6

Lose to Cowboys 9-7 (3-3) if the redskins win out they will be 9-7 and 4-2 in the division over the Eagles.

The Giants 8-4 (2-2 in division)

Lose to Vikings 8-5

Lose to eagles 8-6 (2-3 in division)

Win/Lose to Greenbay (if there 8-6 and win it wont matter because of their divisional record)

Lose to Redskins 8-8  or 9-7 (2-4 in division)

Redskins 1st  Place 9-7 (4-2 in division)  x - Clinched playoff y - Clinched Wild Card z - Clinched Division *Home Field Advantage in Wildcard

Eagles 2nd Place 9-7 (3-3 in division)

Giants 3rd Place 9-7 or 8-8 (2-4 in division)

Cowboys 8-8 (4-2 in division)

Yes this is crazy, im sure theres more likely scenarios. If you got any throw them out and if you see an error in mine point it out.

Hogs Haven Meanwhile, Jason Campbell leads the Raiders to a sweep of the Chargers for first time in 9 years.

Meanwhile, Jason Campbell leads the Raiders to a sweep of the Chargers for first time in 9 years, snapping the Chargers streak of 18 straight December victories and leading the Raiders to the first meaningful December games since 2001.

No, im not claiming that if the Redskins had Jason for this game they would magically know how to tackle, stop the run, or have an offense that resembled the greatest show on turf or anything close to it. But the bottom line is Shanahan decision on trading Jason should be added to the long list of questionable moves. First how could he not be an immediate upgrade as a backup compared Rex Grossman? Had Jason still been here, I have a feeling we'd have a full fledged QB controversy at this point. At 5-7 see what Jason could do in this offense at the age 28. Sure McNabb can run away from a few sacks and look a little flashy, but the facts show Jason Campbell was a more efficient QB for this team.

Lets compare some digits..

28 yrs JasonTD/INT 15-12  Fumbles Lost 3 Sacked 30 times Record 3-9 Rush TD's 1 Total TD = 16 Total Turnover = 15

34  yrs McNabb TD/INT 12-15 Fumbles Lost 1 Sacked 35 times Record 5-7 Rush TD's 0 Total TD = 12 Total Turnover = 16

Yes it is a slight difference, but Jason Campbell is more efficient, if scoring more and turning the ball over less doesn't help give you a better chance at success, i don't know what does. Now I know your going to point out the Records but honestly its splitting hairs, the Redskins could easily have the same record this year, the Defense Stepped up and won us 2 games, a holding penalty, Etc. This is the small picture anyways, Age should be a big deal here. Jason's in his prime Mcnabb on the Tail end.  Mcnabb has not produced on a arguably more talented team and arguably(sorry I have to say arguably) better coached team.

This all leads to my final point, you may completely disagree with my prior statements but I think most of realize the Redskins could have Michael Vick, Tom Brady, or any other QB and look just as bad. Brunell, Campbell, McNabb, it doesn't matter. It's the teams culture, owner, and win now mentality thats all to blame. If they have Campbell now they have almost a full draft, a Young QB with experience, and a reason to look forward to next season. Instead they've added more holes, have less Draft picks and more questions than answers.

Hogs Haven Jay Glazer: Kyle shanahan has wanted to bench Mcnabb for weeks and may if he plays bad early against the Eagles

Fox also ripped Mike Shanahan who desvered it.

This is nothing new inside the Washington Redskins coaching staff," Glazer said of Mike and Kyle Shanahan's lack of faith in McNabb. "What I mean is Kyle Shanahan has wanted to pull this move for several weeks. In fact, I've learned that in a staff meeting before they played Philadelphia he suggested that if Donovan McNabb really struggled, they would consider pulling him. Against Philly. You want to talk about an insult. Against his former team. Obviously somebody talked him out of that."

Saying, "That would have been the ultimate slap in the face," Curt Menefee asked Glazer what he's hearing about McNabb's teammates' reaction.

"The players look at this and say, 'Look, we can understand the Albert Haynesworth thing, but Donovan McNabb...'" Glazer said. "Whatever happened with him in Philadelphia and the schism, if you will, that he had in that locker room, he's learned from that because since he's been here he has been a fantastic leader, the type of quarterback that this organization has missed for a long time. The players are definitely scratching their heads on this one, saying, 'what are we doing this for?'"

Menefee asked Glazer about McNabb's bye week...

Hogs Haven So since there is absolutely no reason Jay Cutler shouldn't be running for his life the whole game, i think he wont be.

We see it every year, if a teams offense is struggling, has a terrible defense, or is still searching for their first win, the Washington Redskins always seems to allow a turnaround. There is absolutely no reason the redskins should have less than 5 sacks in this game AT LEAST. With Fat Albert coming back, orakpo getting hot and the exotic blitzes.. but i can here it now "wow Chicago's line was really struggling but today they made a statement against a great Washington front line" and other blah blah from the commentator like were use to. I thought with Shanahan and McNabb we'd finally be done with toying around with winless teams like the rams and playing down to our opponents, but i was wrong to this point. But anyways i can't complain with them at 3-3 but i just see this happening.. and i think a lot of people are assuming were going to win but you cant exactly look past the bears.

Hogs Haven Albert Haynesworth for Vincent Jackson Trade Appears Likely

Those who have been following the storyline of Albert Haynesworth in 2010 know he has fallen out of favor with the organization, especially with head coach Mike Shanahan. The man who was signed to a $115 million contract, including $41 million guaranteed, found himself on the bench in the team's opening game victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Redskins' second game against the Houston Texans found Haynesworth deactivated. Washington claims a foot injury is the reason, but it appears the defensive tackle has worn out his welcome with a malcontent attitude and a tendency to put himself ahead of the team and their championship dreams.

Vincent Jackson is a tall, strong, fast wide receiver holding out on the San Diego Chargers for more money after making his first Pro Bowl team last season. The Chargers appear uninterested in fulfilling his wishes, and apparently have placed him on the trading block. Rumors claim that San Diego general manager A.J. Smith was seeking two first-round draft picks, which will most likely not happen.

is anyone else reporting this???

Hogs Haven So I have a hard time believing Joey Galloway is better than Antwaan Randel El

How he starting? he had 3 catches in preseason.. this new coaching staff has already made a lot of questionable cuts.

Hogs Haven Over-under on how many plays albert haynesworth plays in the opener?

BQ: Final Score?

I hope we win and with how bad they've been playing and there offensive line injury's i think we have a 50/50 chance of winning a close one but my common sense guess is 35-14 cowboys.

Hogs Haven ESPN 980 vs 106.7 The Fan, Which is better for redskins coverage?

I really use to like some of the programs on ESPN but lately Steve Czaban and Andy Pollin on the sports reporters have just been bitter, negative and boring. I was so excited when i found 106.7 because i was sick of constant orioles game coverage and some of the shows during the day can be boring. I just heard how apparently the sport reporters were attacking hog haven calling them people stuck in there moms basement or something stupid like that.

BQ: What happen to all the constant Snyder bashing on the sport reporters? Im wondering if Dan stepped in since he does own the station and they were constantly ripping him. and they seemed to stop out of nowhere.

Hogs Haven So if we beat Dallas week 1 will everyone go crazy?

I think beating them is a real possibility, they have been over hyped for years. Remember how we should beat them last year but missed 2 field goals and lost 7-6, beat them the year before and than lost 13-14 i think in 2008. They only time they legitimately beat use was the last game, and the redskins were in shambles at that point. But even if we do beat them i don't think it guaranteeing anything, i could still see us going 7-9, but like 2 years ago when we beat dallas and philly back to back everyone went crazy. How important will it be to win this game in your opinion, and will the rest of the season fallow the outcome?

Hogs Haven Whats the risk of signing T.O. if the redskins get him cheap?

I read on NFL.com he's still looking to get around 5mil so no teams will sign him, but if we could get him for around 2mil why not? If he starts something we can just cut him, not to mention he had no issues in buffalo last year. I know his productivity went down but consider he was on the buffalo bills. He still had 55 receptions for 829 yards and five touchdowns receptions, More than anyone on the redskins besides Fred Davis right? With Donovan i think his stats would go back up.
