Ok. so here we are. I was psyched up, pumped and ready to roll when the season started. Here I had my Niners picked to win the west, play-off bound, stacked better on O-line, D looking good. And muh Razorbacks ready to destroy the SEC west. It was going to be the year to end all years....

And then it happened. Niners drop 2, hogs lose to bama, and then, niners lose to the CHEIFS the next day. I'm in a rut. Forget the hogs (since it isn't a hogs site) for now. I am getting the feeling that at best we'll be drafting in the first half of the draft, somewhere in the top 15 picks. So, what do we take. QB? Is it time to throw in the Smith towel? DB? Is it time to get the pass defense in order? (Mays is our future, btw). Where do we go? Personally, I'd draft an OC. One who doesn't think you can win without a good passing game. Unfortunately, doesn't work that way.

So what are your thoughts then? After 3 games, 2 just plain aweful and one in New Orleans that was at least fun to watch, where are we the weakest? Let's see the week 3 draft predictions!!!

We all know injuries happen, and can make or break a season. This is why teams look for depth, or at least one of the reasons. So my question at this time is, where are the 49ers most exposed? If ____ got injured, we'ld be up a creek. I think clearly we are wearing very thin at DB, and I wish we could add a little more depth there. Where do you think we run the most risk for a season devistating injury? If Gore goes down, do we throw in the towel? Willis? Davis?

So I thought this would be an interesting idea. It seems we have posters from all over the country on this site, which leads me to wonder how we all came to be 49er fans. I will start things off.

I was 10 years old and my family went over to my grandparent's house for a Superbowl party (giving away my age a bit). When we got there, my grandpa said if we were going to watch the game, we had to pick a team. I had never watched a football game, as my parents aren't fans, I didn't know a thing about it. The choices were San Fran and Denver. I picked the 49ers. No idea why, just random chance. Rooted for them ever since. Now I shudder to think how close I was to becoming a Broncos fan. Subsequently I decided to root for the SF Giants too, that next summer (my first year in little league and the first time I took interest in baseball. I don't really care for the NBA very much, though I use to root for the Bulls because my sister did. Hockey? I'm from Arkansas.

So, when and why did you start rooting for the 49ers?

So, I want to know what everyone thinks about our QB situation. To be quite honest, I can't decide who I want to start. On the one hand, you have Alex smith. He has started in the past and not really shown much of anything, but he has also had to deal with some very inconsistant line play, the OC merry go round, and (insert pet excuse here for Smith). The point in my mind I think is that he has had the chance and not performed. He's had his moments, but not really any #1 overall pick moments.

And then there's Shaun Hill. The career back up. He has shown lots of heart, good leadership, and some flashes of bad assitude. The trouble I think is that he doesn't look like a long term solution. He is about 30 years old, and although he has, I think, a lot of potential to improve, lets face it, his arm isn't likely to grow. He's careful, and smart with the ball, but not great.

Personally, I am leaning toward Hill. I think he at least deserves a chance to be the man for a season. Especially after his contribution last year. Even with lacking the canon, in our offense he thrives. But then, if he starts and shows he can hold down the job, but isn't destine for greatness, we all wonder if Smith would have been the next HoF QB for the niners if given the shot. It feels like chosing between an investment that will always yeild well, but never amazinigly well (Hill) and one that may yeild nothing, but could make you rich (Smith)

Yeah yeah...I know.  Just site my user name. Still, it is a question. Gore hasn't just blown my sox off. What happens if we build this "power run" offense around him, and he turns dud. Personally, I want a contrasting RB to Gore. Fast, Agile....From Arkansas....Ok ok, I'll stop. Still, what do we do if Gore doesn't perform, and we don't have a gunslinger QB? I honestly have never really been wow'd by the man from Miami. I will admitted that I am biassed against run first offenses to start with, especially if I lack confidence in the guy doing the running. Someone shine me a light so I can leap upon the Gore bandwagon.
