The Rockies are the light and love of my life...and appropriately drive me mad as a result ! I love them all anyway, honestly. Favorites include Garrett Atkins,Carlos Gonzalez (vroom vroom baby), Matt Belisle, Matt Daley, Troy Tulowitzki, Chris Iannetta, Ryan Spilborghs, Randy Flores, Dexter Fowler, Ubaldo Jimenez, Greg Reynolds, Todd Helton, Jeff Francis, Brad Hawpe, Clint Barmes, Matt Herges, Brian Fuentes, Aaron Cook, Matt Holliday...and all the rest! And yes, I will continue to root on former Rockies in their future endeavors...I will always stick with my Rockies...they are my 1st and original sports loves!

My other love, the Denver Nuggets! I love Kenyon Martin for his defense, dunking, swagger, and crazy/cool antics. Also can't forget my love for Carmelo Anthony (Love his smile, personality, improved defense, as well as his offense!!) and Nene (one of the coolest/most talented guys in the NBA and he beat cancer)! Chauncey Billups has changed this team and I will never lose my faith in him and the rest of the Nuggets! J.R. Smith is the "honey bee" and I am so proud of him,! Really I love the whole squad! You can call them the Thuggets, Nuggsies, or whatever you want to call em' but they are my boys and always will be!

Baseball is my first love, but after that comes hockey! I love those Avs, especially Super Joe Sakic, Adam Foote, and Peter Budaj!

Purple Row July 4 game being re-aired right now on MLB.com.

For those that want to see it, it is free and you don't have to sign up for anything or login . It's in the 3rd inning right now, but of course it is the best comeback in club history, so worth watching. Just go to the Rockies official site main page to get to it easily. This season was rough in some ways, but that game was a bright spot. As always, go rockies!

Purple Row Reynolds to AAA for Rusch, Tulo on DL part 2....holy cow!

the bad news (link) I wake up this morning after the magic of last night to the horrifying news that Greg Reynolds has been sent down to AAA and Tulo has injured himself once again. Tulo will have to have surgery on his thumb, which was injured due to the fact he slammed a bat while being taken out of last night's 18-17 win. Seth Smith and Glendon Rusch will be called up as replacements.

Purple Row Methods for coping with the ups/downs of the Rockies

Despite the Rockies less than stellar start to this season, there is the group of people (many of which are on this blog) who still believe the Rockies can turn it around and continue to watch. Thus, I felt it might be helpful to list a few methods I use. Some of these involve furthur immersing of yourself in the Rockies, while others help to distract from them..whatever helps.

1) Rejoice in the Diamondbacks/NL West opponents struggles, whether they are big or small. (Note: I have much respect for the Snake Pit/Dbacks team, this is not degrading that). For example a certain pitcher who has won a lot having their first loss, etc. This can include pumping your fists in the air when you see them losing on your cellphone while eating dinner out in public. If you don't want to look at it in a "mean" way, rejoice in underdog teams beating the Dbacks etc.

2) Immerse yourself in a distracting tv show. What I mean by this is a show that makes you laugh because it is so darn funny or  something with high drama like reality tv. I really find that dramatic reality shows like the Real World or A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila work well. They will make you feel good about your own life, make you realize that watching the Rockies might not be the worst thing in the world, will totally distract you, or all of the above.

3) Watch some kind of baseball related movie or show that will make you become inspired  about the team again. This can be anything from a baseball movie classic like the sandlot to rockies all access. Anything that renews your faith and hope in the team. I personally use my 21 days dvd or any good clips from the playoffs to remind myself that we still have a great team.

4) Go to the dugout store/stadium store/walmart to get more rockies gear. Focus on outfitting yourself for the next rockies game or rockies related event.

5) Do something you believe will help change the karma. Whether it's wearing the same shirt when they are on a winning streak or changing your myspace song when they aren't, at least you will feel you are doing something to change the karma.

6) Listen to the player's batting songs/songs that are played at coors. This can be used during games to create luck or before to get pumped up. Or if you are feeling particularly pessimistic you can do what a few fans have done on here and create a mock negative playlist.

7) If you are feeling particularly angry, you can fuel your anger in a variety of ways. You can put all that energy into something traditionally helpful like boxing or any other form of excercise/sports, write an angry blog, share your anger with fellow fans, use a voodoo doll to curse the red sox/dbacks etc. You can also put any of the players on the computer game the sims and do any of the above.

8) You can complain to your friends who don't know anything about baseball and convince them of how big your rockies problem is. This will do one of two things if you are persistant enough: 1) Convert them into being a fan so they comisserate with you and even become rockies crazed or 2) Convince them to stage an intervention involving your family/friends getting you far away from the Rockies. Either way, your emotional turmoil will be dealt with and you won't be "alone". You might even be the next person who goes on Dr. Phil!

9) If you are able to go to games at Coors Field, get excited about the "other things" you can do at a Rockies game even if they are not winning. This includes watching the Harley Davidson Hog Race, autographs, the wave, voting for the best song, baseball bloopers, hotdog contests, food, alcohol, any kind of socializing with other fans, and of course trying to get on the jumbotron.

10) If you are really bored and just can't get the Rockies out of your head aka if you are truly a Rockies Addict, other things you can do include:

a) making signs to bring to games of your favorite player

b) Rockies "trivia" including which player has which jerseny number or learning all their middle names

c) Organizing your player jersey tees or Rockies clothes in general because you have so many

d) creating nicknames for all the players, this can include good and bad

e) searching for rockies merchandise on ebay

f) reading rockies magazine, "Mile High Madness", or anything else rockies related

g) looking at your pictures of them and/or with them and geeking out

h) making a rockies scrapbook

i) keeping an eye on ALL the former rockies on other teams and marveling when two wind up on the same team

j)using the fact that you like baseball/the rockies as a way to appeal to or gain sympathy from the opposite/same sex

k) make a slideshow on the computer of your rockies pics

l) ponder about a certain aspect of a particular player..for example, spilly's facial hair

m) look for other rockies related media that even you may not have seen

n) find a way to tie the rockies into a presentation or something work/school related

o) look forward to going to certain games because of the giveaways..yay for bobbleheads

p) realize that the rockies could star in their own reality tv show or movie based on their ups and downs and write it!

q) look for other fans as crazy as you are, so you can geek about the rockies together

r) realize that you, yourself, could probably write and publish a book entitled "my years with the colorado rockies"

etc. etc. etc.
