Devon Kennard SI Article

I apologize if this was already posted. I tried to post it in the Fan Shots section but it failed to post.

Article in CNN's Truth and Rumors Section.

"Southern California coach Pete Carroll's home visit with Phoenix Desert Vista defensive end Devon Kennard on Monday went "awesome" and softened the blow of USC losing defensive coordinator Nick Holt to Washington. Kennard, 6-foot-3, 257 pounds, said that he has a very good relationship with USC defensive line coach David Watson. Kennard said that Carroll told him that Watson will stay and have a prominent role on the staff. That means Watson could possibly move into the role of defensive coordinator. Carroll has yet to name a replacement for Holt. Kennard, rated before his season-ending knee injury in September as No.2 overall recruit in the nation by Rivals.com, said that it is unlikely he will take an official trip with Arizona State, but may visit with ASU academic people this weekend. He had ASU among his top five during the summer, but in recent weeks narrowed it to USC, Texas and California."

This is starting to not look good for the horns receiving a commitment letter from Kennard.

WTH! He is the lone employee of the BCS and controls all the calculations for the BCS results. Seems like the BCS would have a checks and balance system in place so allegiances are not in play. Seems a little fishy to me but you be the judge. He said he quadrupled checked the calculations but I'm sure most readers of this blog are aware that OU fans or graduates can't count, e.g. 45-35. He stated that he was "sadder for the sad" for the fans in Austin and was "happy for the happy" for the fans in Norman. See below for the link.

Bumped. Yeah, Fozzy. Beat Mizzou.

"Texas fans haven’t seen him in action since UTEP, but redshirt freshman tailback Fozzy Whittaker is “practicing to play,” Longhorn running backs coach Major Applewhite said Thursday.

“He’s doing well,” Applewhite told the Austin Longhorn Club. “He’s ready to go this week.”

Hampered by knee injuries, Whittaker has appeared in just one game, rushing for 72 yards on 12 carries against the Miners.

Even if he’s healthy, however, it’s unclear how much action Whittaker will see, especially with Chris Ogbonnaya’s emergence.

“We’re bringing him along to make sure he’s healthy,” Applewhite said of Whittaker, “and ready to contribute in the right way."

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Jones, however, did not say whether he planned to reschedule the Texas visit, and if so, for which date. Jones is in the process of setting up an official visit to Southern Cal for early November. His other finalists are Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Florida and Miami. The secretive Jones has yet to reveal any other official visits."
