A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words...
This photo was captured by Auburn University Photographer Todd Van Emst this morning at the Auburn Athletic Complex as Tiger coach Gene Chizik and Assistant Trooper Taylor react to the commitment of Corey Lemonier to Auburn over Florida State. This has been a day like no other in Auburn football history. How many times has a reigning national champion lost the recruiting battle to an in-state rival just weeks after claiming the crown? Auburn finishes the recruiting year with the fourth best class according to Rivals.com. Alabama finishes fifth.

SIGNED LETTER OF INTENT

National Signing Day Special...
The day has finally arrived. National Signing Day is here. The faxes have already started coming in to the Auburn Athletic Department. Will there be any surprises today? You can almost bet on it. After all, we're talking about 18 year-old kids who are under unimaginable pressure.
Here are a few storylines to watch out for as we move through the day...
Where will four-star defense end Corey Lemonier land? He's narrowed his choices to Auburn and Florida State. Recruiting experts still give Auburn the edge, but at this point, who really knows?
Will five-star Mississippi offensive lineman Shon Coleman stay with Auburn or will he really defect to Alabama?
Will Junction City, Arkansas defensive tackle Byran Jones go with Auburn or Arkansas? Most believe he'll end up a Razorback.
Stay right here throughout the morning for updates and please share your thoughts on how the day is progressing. War Eagle!
UPDATE (8:10 a.m.) Below is a list of commitments already received...
Cody Parkey, K, 6-2, 195, Jupiter (Fla.)
Antonio Goodwin, WR, 6-2, 170, Atlanta/Booker T. Washington
Steven Clark, P, 6-5, 230, Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill
Jeremy Richardson, WR, 6-4, 220, Springville
Kenneth Carter, 6-5, 267, Greenville
Eric Mack, OL, 6-4, 315, St. Matthews, S.C./Calhoun County
Jonathon Mincy, DB, 5-10, 175, Decatur, Ga./Southwest Dekalb
Ed Christian, OL, 6-5, 280, Valdosta, Ga./Lowndes
Ladarius Phillips, ATH, 6-1, 265, Handley.
UPDATE (8:21 a.m.) Ladarius Phillips becomes the first uncommitted player to sign with Auburn. The Handley, Alabama running back is listed as a two-star back by Rivals. He's listed as 6'1, 275 lbs., so obviously, he's not lining up at running back. Many believe he'll be moved to the defensive line.
UPDATE (8:37 a.m.) While we wait for more names to come in, here's an interesting article by Birmingham News writer Kevin Scarbinsky. I don't agree with everything he says, but there's no doubt Gene Chizik has sent notice to Nick Saban and Alabama. To possibly unseat the national champions in recruiting is simply unbelievable. Click here to read.
UPDATE (8:45 a.m.) Here's another great column about Chizik and the job he's done recruiting this year. This one is written by Sports Illustrated writer Stewart Mandel. Click here to read.
UPDATE (8:48 a.m.) HUGE WIN FOR AUBURN! Five-star offensive lineman Shon Coleman says no to Alabama and signs with Auburn. What a way to start the day. Here's Phillip Marshall's story.
UPDATE (8:56 a.m.) More names have arrived via fax to the Auburn Athletic Department...
Shon Coleman, OL, 6-7, 285, Olive Branch (Miss.)
Ryan Smith, DB, 6-1, 195, Cordova
Shaun Kitchens, WR, 6-3, 211, College Park, Ga./Banneker
Demetruce McNeal, DB, 6-0, 176, College Park, Ga./Banneker
Jeffrey Whitaker, DT, 6-3, 315, Warner Robins (Ga.)
Jawara White, LB, 6-2, 220, Troy/Charles Henderson
UPDATE (9:19 a.m.) The first surprise of the morning is the signing of running back Ryan Smith. The Cordova, Alabama native committed to Kentucky, but has apparently decided he belongs in Auburn. He was the Class 3A Back of the year in Alabama this season, rushing for 1,856 yards and 26 touchdowns. He may end up playing at safety.
UPDATE (9:26 a.m.) Four-star defensive end Corey Lemonier is set to make his announcement at around noon central time from his high school in Hialeah, Florida. Again, he's narrowed his choices to Auburn and Florida State.
UPDATE (9:35 a.m.) Two big names are now official...
Michael Dyer, RB, 5-8, 201, Little Rock Christian
Dakota Mosley, TE, 6-4, 252, Little Rock Christian
UPDATE (10:14 a.m.) More names have come across the fax machine...
Justin Delaine, DE, 6-5, 225, Linden
LaDarius Owens, LB, 6-2, 225, Bessemer/Jess Lanier
UPDATE (10:25 a.m.) No surprise here - defensive lineman Byran Jones picks Arkansas over Auburn. Here's the story.
UPDATE (10:29 a.m.) Auburn losses out on D.J. Howard, who was being recruited as an athlete. He committed today to Clemson. This is really not a shocker. Playing running back in high school, he wanted the opportunity to play on the offensive side of the ball in college. Auburn saw him as a defensive back.
UPDATE (11:18 a.m.) We're still waiting on Corey Lemonier. There have been three more signees roll in...
Jake Holland, LB, 6-1, 228, Pelham
Chad Slade, OL, 6-6, 316, Moody
Ryan White, CB, 6-0, 185, Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln
UPDATE (11:36 a.m.) Corey Lemonier's announcement is set for approximately 11:50 a.m. CT and it's being carried live on ESPN U.
UPDATE (11:50 a.m.) Corey Lemonier chooses Auburn! What a huge day for the Tigers. Just Unbelievable!
UPDATE (12:06 p.m.) Since the Lemonier announcement, paperwork has arrived for three more future Tigers...
Jessel Curry, LB, 6-2, 215, Buford (Ga.)
Chris Davis, CB, 5-11, 175, Birmingham/Woodlawn
Craig Sanders, DE, 6-4, 230, Ariton
UPDATE (12:15 p.m.) Auburn is now waiting on two letters - Trovon Reed and Joel Bonomolo. Reed's was expected last hour. There's still no word on Bonomolo - it's only a little past 10:00 a.m. Pacific time.
UPDATE (12:43 p.m.) Here's a surprise: Auburn has signed offensive lineman Tunde Fariyike from Upson Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia. He's rated a two-star center by Rivals. He checks in at 6'3 and 295 pounds.
UPDATE (12:55 p.m.) Thibodaux, Louisiana athlete Trovon Reed's letter of intent has arrived at Auburn. There was some worry earlier this morning, but now it's official - He's a Tiger. The four-star signee is the number four-rated athlete in the country according to Rivals.
UPDATE (1:06 p.m.) Auburn's class is now complete. All signatures are in with the exception of defensive end Joel Bonomolo. Being on the west coast, his letter should arrive shortly. Historic is not too big a word to describe the day Gene Chizik and staff has had on the Plains. Now the hard work begins. All this talent will need lots of coaching. Expectations will be higher than ever in the coming years. Auburn football looks to have laid the foundation for greatness with this group of players. Only time will tell. Thanks to all of you who spent part of your day with us. We'll have much more coverage in the days ahead. War Eagle!
