Blueshirt Banter Ranting about Gaborik and the Future

I've been wondering about this team lately. They've hit a huge speed bump that goes back to the last game before the All Star break. It's nice to see we've gotten most of the team back off the injured list but it hasn't made much of a difference. In fact I'd say they're playing worst. I saw this team as a 5th seed team with a shot at the Conference finals. Some of you might think I'm shooting a little high but with the level they were playing at was higher than any expectation than any Rangers fan could have for seen.

There have been some weird posting about the possibility of Gaborik being traded. I wont lie, with the way he's been playing, I'd trade him. I know it's only his second season and his main wing man Vinny Prospal was missing in action, but don't try to convince me that Prospal is responsible for setting that many goals for him. Gaborik has been moving slow and halfheartedly on the ice. The Rangers have more talented players like Dubinsky or Wolski or even Avery that can feed the puck to Gaborik, not just Prospal. Torts has thrown god knows how many different line combos at him and he still doesn't produce.

Maybe it's not such a bad idea that the front office is listening to offers for Gaborik. They would get some draft picks out of it and probably a top six forward. I'm honestly on the fence about it but I wouldn't be apposed to them trading Gaborik. Think of the money we'll have to sign a better player (Richards/Parise) or to resign the upcoming RFA's and UFA's. I honestly don't think it's gonna happen, but people have even suggested that we need to build around him. Why? With players like Dubinsky, Callahan, Stepan and soon Grachev getting better, why not build around the future of this team instead of ONE player. Detroit, Philly and Chicago didn't build a team around one guy they built a team with core players and prospects.

While were at it, who else might be worth shipping out. How about Artem Anisimov? I'll admit he has talent; quick hands and feet, good at finding his man in the open and going to the net...when he shows it. AA to me is very inconsistent and predictable. He is forever trying to split the defensmen when he doesn't have the talent to do it. Herb Brooks said it best, "You don't have enough talent to win on talent alone." Honestly I'd consider keeping Fedetenko for another year or so and bring up Grachev. FedEx has shown GREAT chemistry with Brian Boyle and Brandon Prust and he fits very well in the offense. He might be older but he'll also be an asset to the younger players.

What's going to happen to Michael Del Zotto? He looks like he could use some more help in AHL but I think he'd be worth trading as well. They still have Steve Eminger sitting up in the box waiting for someone to screw up. Eminger is still young enough and talented enough to work with this defense and compete. This is probably his best year and he's sitting so Torts can get a look at MDZ. I say get rid of 'em and resign Eminger to a small 2 or 3 year deal.

As much as this kills me to say this and even though he is one of my favorites on this team, it is time to get rid of Sean Avery. He is great at instigating and plays well with just about everybody. But this team needs more offense, not grinders. He busts his ass almost every game and rarely has points to show for it. Plus Torts never wants to give him the minutes he deserves. Avery isn't the Avery we came to know and appreciate when he first came to New York. The NHL and Torts put a choke collar on him and he has a bulls eye on his back so the referees can spot him easier. Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to Avery.

You can believe in what I'm saying and support it or consider me a raving lunatic. But be advised that these are ramblings of mine and are simply opinionated comments. By no means am I saying to tank the season for a better pick or trade everyone or pick up useless players to help with a playoff push. If the Rangers get better and the right deal comes along than I'd say pull the trigger. Until that happens, I'm satisfied with this team and will continue to vent my frustrations to my wife and whom ever is willing to read my diatribe. Enjoy the rest of the season.

Blueshirt Banter You Gotta Believe!

After tonights big win in Washington, I have to say this is by far the best Rangers team I've seen in a long time to grace the ice at MSG. I'm not saying were perfect by any stretch of my imagination, but this team has given me hope in a lot of games this year and they have not let me down.

I currently live in Oak Harbor Washington but I grew up in New Jersey where I was raised to be a die hard Rangers fan. This is the first time I've been able to afford a cable hockey package and It's been worth every penny of it. I have watched every game since Dec. 4th when I got the package and I've only missed ONE game. I am so impressed and excited about this season that even my wife is watching games with me. Sure she asks from time to time "What's Icing" or "Who the hell is Zackarallo" (I know it's spelled wrong, but I have to emphasize on how she pronounced it the first time) but it's well worth it.

At times it's been difficult to watch with the passed chances at taking shots or the terrible power play but watching this team gets me excited about the playoffs and how this team will look in the future. They have one of the best defenses in the game and the youngest. If that means I have to see a rookie mistake every now and then than so be it because this will be a very difficult team to score on with constant shot blocking and checking. I wouldn't mind seeing a more offensive minded defensmen, you know, someone who could help on the PP, but I'll cope with it. Let me ask you this, can you seriously be mad at a few mistake after the way Sauer, McDonagh and Gilroy have stepped up this year. Maybe not offensively, but they've done a terrific job at shutting down rushes, isolating the puck and helping out Lundqvist and Biron.

With every offensive player we lose to injury, I always end up closing my eyes in pain and wondering how the team till react. One word says it all... resilient. The Rangers have lost Boogard (whatever...) Prospal, Callahan, Dubinsky, Fedetenko and Christensen. Aside from Boogard, those other five are the toughest, most determined and strangely are biggest offensive threats and the Rangers have still managed to pick themselves up and keep on fighting. Zuccarello has stepped in and shown he is capable of adapting to the NHL. Grachev, although he was shaky at first, has progressed and I think he'll be playing at the NHL level next season but not because of injuries. Kolarik has shown some flashes of NHL readiness but I don't think he quite there yet, I think another season of AHL would do him some good. Lucky for us, the All-Star break is coming up, and we should have everyone back (except Boogard...whatever) within a week or two of February 1st.

This season has been a surprise for the fans, the other NHL teams and even the critics. The Rangers may still be shaky in some areas of the game but are showing determination, grit and seem to have finally grasped John Tortorellas system. They could use some more offensive pop and some help on the PP, but I think they have shown a better overall display of skill then the past 2 years. I may be pulling this from the 1986 New York Mets, but after what I've seen this season coming out of MSG, You've Gotta Believe!!!!

Blueshirt Banter Found this on ESPN

Well it's official I guess. The BSB has made it to the pro's and are finally being recognized by ESPN. Found this article about the Rangers recent flogging of the Red Wings and it also discusses the the possible cuts coming up for our beloved Blueshirts. Toward the bottom it gives a couple of links for other sites and among them is BSB.com. I was rather impressed and I'm not just saying that because it's my brothers web site. It goes to show how far this site has come since it first started. Here's the link.

Blueshirt Banter What's the deal w/ Mats Zuccarello-Aasen

So I've watched some videos on MZA and read some scouting reports on him. He seems to be a pretty good puck handler and he knows how to feed the puck and create plays. My question is will he be starting with the Rangers or will be sent to Hartford? Personally I feel he should be starting at the NHL level but I don't know if the Rangers can make room for him or keep his salary with out dumping someone into the minors or trading. I was hoping to get your opinions on it and maybe some answers.

Blueshirt Banter Suggestion at LW

I had a suggestion for a FA pick up at LW. Now don't go all banana sandwich on me when I think it would be a good idea to look at and possibly sign Paul Kariya. I think it would be a good fit with his experience in the playoffs, excellent team player, good leader for the young players and will probably come fairly cheap. He put up 18G 25A for 43P for a bad St. Louis Blues team but was still better than our Rangers. I'm not saying they should go and do it but I think it's  someone they should look at for maybe a year. They did it with Prospal and that panned out well and Kariya is a far better player than Prospal. What do you think? Let me here your comments.

Blueshirt Banter Long Live Henrik!!!

I don't have much to say here. I found this video on Youtube. The guy who made it has some great saves and put it too a decent song. It's a nice little homage to the man who helps carry the Rangers every game and so far every season. I will dedicate this to the certain fans who believe he needs to be traded and feel that we can find a better goalie. God Bless Avery....and  God save the King.

Blueshirt Banter God do I miss Sean Avery

Remember when Sean Avery would annihilate players in the corners and screen goalies by facing them and waving his stick around like he was leading a marching band? Or when would "accidentally" whack a goalie in the back of his head with his stick and was called for a penalty that the referees didn’t even see until it was replayed on the over head score board?
Those were the days weren’t they, seeing him in the box whipping water bottles at the Boston Bruins fans. I remember those days, and I miss the hell out of them. I miss them because that was the Avery the New York Rangers needed on the ice and the fans loved to watch. Someone that would throw a cheap shot from time to time. A player who would light a fire under this team’s ass to get them going.
But not any more, not since the NHL hog-tied him and watch his every move and listen to what he has to say to the press. Sure he’s made some off-color comments and acted out like an immature child but you love him. Don’t let the other teams fool you either. If he was traded or he was to sign somewhere else, they would love him and so would the fans.
This team needs that ferocious, antagonizing, dirty but loyal player. And they need him in a big bad way. Don’t get me wrong, there is a list as long as the Empire State Building of what this team needs, but at least they don’t have to spend money to get it now. That player is already here and he wears the number 16. Take the collar off, open the fence gate and release the Pitt Bull that is Sean Avery. Let him take some cheap shots; let him throw some behind-the-scene punches. Let this man play hockey the way he knows best, as a fiery instigator that can get under any one’s skin.
I guarantee if you let Avery be Avery, you’ll see this teams morale go up and see a little bit more hitch in there giddy-up. You might see Dan Girardi step into a scrapple when his team mate is having the crap kicked out of him. Maybe Chris Drury will actually speak up and show some life out on the ice and shred thee "Quiet Leader" title. Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky just might start to progress instead of regressing the way they have this season.
But all of this wont matter. Because Torts won’t loosen the choke chain, and the NHL would still watch him like a hawk even if he was allowed to crack skulls the way he used too. I can dream can’t I or at least remember the way it was.

Blueshirt Banter No More Drama, But...

Their have been some significant changes made to the New York Rangers since I last wrote an article.  It’s nothing huge enough to blow your mind but significant to say the least.  Nikolai Zherdev finally had his case heard for arbitration and basically won.  Even though it wasn’t the reported $4.5 million he was looking to get but he still received a better offer than what General Manager Glen Sather was willing to pay.  Mr. Sather had qualified him at a respectable $3.25 million considering he was a 60 point player.

After it was all said and done, Zherdevs ruling of a one-year $3.9 million contract was rejected allowing the mercurial and often disinterested player to sign with another NHL or KHL team.  At least the drama is over and the Rangers can now set their sights on signing the blossoming Brandon Dubinsky.  That was on August 4th when Zherdev was released and still there is no word on Dubinsky by the wee morning hours of the 19th.  To fill the void made by Nikolai’s exit the Rangers sign Vaclav “Vinny” Prospal to a surprisingly smart deal.

Vinny will join the Rangers in camp coming at the low bargain price of only $1.1 million for only one year.  That’s a pretty good deal since Tampa Bay bought out the remaining three years of his $14 million dollar contract.  This signing puts the Blueshirts in a very good position for the upcoming season as well as has next year’s off season.  It’s only a one year commitment to a proven, strong, versatile player who can also play center if need be.  Prospal has played under John Tortorella before in Tampa Bay when they won the 2004 Stanley Cup.  Because he knows Torts’ tough but fair coaching style, Vinny will know what’s expected of him and his game.

Last season Prospal played 82 games which is a big factor putting up 19 goals and 26 assists.  Anytime you can add a veteran goal scorer at a cheap price then I say go for it.  He’s not a 30 or 40 goal scorer but that’s fine.  The Rangers have added enough offense with Chris Higgins, Ales Kotalik and Marion Gaborik.  Also they brought back Ryan Callahan who is only going to improve.  If Prospal has a bad year so what, it’s only for a year.  He’s only filling in until the Rangers can bring up Evgeny Grachev or even Derek Stepan.  This isn’t the Rangers of old where you hope to have one or two go-to-guys for your goal scoring.  This is a team where you can find goal scoring on any line including the power play where it’s very much needed.

To top off the recent news of the New York Rangers, I’d like to mention some more unrealistic rumors floating about.  The first rumor I’ll mention is the possible trade involving Brad Richards.  Dallas is looking to acquire Brandon and give up Richards but the Rangers want to dump Michal Rozsival remaining three years at $5 million a year contract as well.  I don’t blame the Rangers for wanting to do it since Richards comes at the steep price of $7.8 million.  But I also don’t blame Dallas for refusing the deal because of Rozsival’s contract.

The last rumor I’d like to mention caught my eye in the forums of OutsidetheGarden.com.  A new user named Gab10 started a thread which has started quiet a bit of chatter amongst the fans…

Hey everyone.  Big die hard fan like all of you. I was on something called senschirp.ca and supposedly someone on there is friendly with someone who works in the Rangers organization and they heard of this 3 way trade...tell me what you think

to NYR
Heatley
Schubert

to Edmonton
Redden
Kelly
Del Zotto
NYR 1st round pick

to Ottawa
Penner
Cogliano
Souray
Edmonton’s 1st round pick

Now I will admit that is an astonishing move but it sounds too good and too silly to be true.  I don’t know any team that would be willing to take Wade Redden or his contract especially since Edmonton has been trying since before the draft to get Dany Heatley.  Rumors are always, “I heard it from someone who is close to this guy who gives a back rub too…” and so on and so on.  I will gladly eat crow if the deal does go through but I am willing to state right now that Heatley will not be trade to New York.  Also I don’t for see the Rangers giving away a top prospect like Michael Del Zotto but it would be worth it.

The Rangers may lose Del Zotto but they have an over abundance of talented defensemen waiting for there chance in the NHL with Corey Potter and Bob Sanguinetti.  Schubert would only be a risk for a year since he’s entering into the final year of his contract but would still allow us to have that third veteran presence on defense.  The Rangers would also add another 40 to 50 plus goal scorer. But the biggest point of all is that we dump Redden. To me the deal would be worth making if it meant getting rid his horrible game play and a contract to match.

What you see on the Rangers is what you’re gonna see opening night with the hopes of Dubinsky signing.  This team has improved so much this off season and although I may be nervous about the defense I’m also excited to see who the new faces will be and how it will all come together. Get ready fans because the season is coming fast and it’s gonna be fun.

Blueshirt Banter The Outlook

Since the Rangers season is over I thought i'd do a little research into their salary cap. From the way it's looking the Rangers are going to have a very cheap off-season unless they move some money around.  Take a look for yourself...

The top 5 highest paid players are Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Henrik Lunqvist, Wade Redden and Michal Rozsival. Lord knows they wont get rid of The King. Redden is unmoveable (thanks a lot Slats) and Drury is to precious of a commodity to get rid of even though his points have gone down the past four seasons.

WIth Markus Naslund retiring that gives the Rangers an extra 4 million or so to mess with. Man do they need it. My brother, jrs1940 had put up a story earlier from Puck Daddy about a possible trade that would make sense. Chris Drury for Patrick Marleau. It would be a great move. Marleau is younger, better and can score a hell of a lot more than Drury ever could. He's also cheaper by 800 thousand or so but more worth the money.

As for Redden...I've got nothing. Nobody would take him. Not even if the Rangers ate some of his salary as part of the trade. Plus they would have to take someone just as bad or worse in the deal. But whoever they would get is probably gonna be cheaper.

   This is what I suggest...

  • Trade Chris Drury for Patrick Marleau
  • Fish Redden around and see if you can get a bite from some team
  • Re-sign everyone except for Zherdev, Mara and Orr
  • With the remaining money under the cap save it.

Sadly enough the Rangers will not get Marian Hossa or Marian Gaborik. Nor will they get either Sedin brothers. Maybe they could squeeze Alex Tanguay or even Mike York into a deal. York has played for them before and he comes cheap. Maybe they could do some finagling and sign Ruslan Fedotenko or even Erik Cole. They would come at the price range the Rangers are gonna be left with. But lets face facts here my good blueshirt lovers, Slats has screwed this team for the next few years.

I say its time to let the young players take over and see what they can do. Lets call up some of those defenseman we keep drafting but never get any NHL ice time. Who knows maybe thats what the Rangers need to do is mix the young with the expierenced ( aka veterans) and lets make a future for this club.

Maybe the next off season when the Rangers have an extra 4 million they can get a big goal scorer. Or a better D-man. Or even a better leader. We're just gonna have to accept our Rangers and hope for the best this off season.

Blueshirt Banter Remembering Another God...#35

Remember the good times. Remember the great players. Mike Richter was a big part of why the Rangers got a cup in 1994. This man made eye popping saves. Was always rated as one of the top goaltenders of his time. When the Ranger fans watch the King, they remember Richter. They see the greatness in both of them. They see the coming of another Stanley Cup. This video is an excellent portrayel of how great Mike Richter was in the crease. How astonishing his quickness and reflexes were. His achievements and stats speak for themselves.

Blueshirt Banter Proud to be a Ranger

Photobucket

Has jrs1940 posted earlier, I AM A RANGER. When ever I go to New York City I always make sure I stop by Madison Square Garden. The feelings you get walking through those halls and feeling the history behind it all is damn near inspirational. We remember the good times and sadly the bad times. We remember when Stephane Matteau scored his wrap around goal in double overtime to advance our Rangers into the Stanley Cup. We remember Mark Messiers tearful face of joy having his number lifted to the roof to sit next to other Rangers greats like Gilbert, Giacomin and Richter. We remember Wayne Gretzky getting his final career goal in a blueshirt.

With all of the turbulence that has gone on through out the Rangers history, it has always been the fans to support them. From losses to bad trades. From bad team players to a 54 year cup drought. In 1994 after Lord Stanley came back to New York, how many of you remember seeing that sign that said "I can now die in peace." I do and I know my brothers remember it.  I was 10 years old when I watched Messier jump clear off the ice after winning that final game. I was 10 when i watched Mike Richter make mirror saves on Pavel Bure during the ALL-STAR game and the the Stanly Cup. I'm going to be 25 years old in June and I still get excited when I see the Rangers play. Seeing the King make a glove slave or watching Sean Avery drive anyone into the boards.

Today is a day for hope. A day to believe in your New York Rangers. Today should be a day of glory and excitement. No negative thoughts or feelings. When you watch the game tonight think about how in 10 or 15 years from now how you might see Henrik Lundqvists jersey being strung up next to Messier or Graves. Because the Rangers are gods among there fans. I am a Ranger and I'm damn proud of it.  LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

Blueshirt Banter The Future of the New York Rangers

The New York Rangers announced the signing of Matt Gilroy. Gilroy is this years Hobey Baker winner for being the best U.S. hockey player in college. One day later, he helped the Boston University Terriers to a stunning come-from-behind overtime win over Miami University in the NCAA Division I national championship game. He was the team captain and led them to fifth championship season in has many years.

An amazing signing by the Rangers. By many fans he is possibly seen has the future defenseman of this team. Sadly though many fans have seen this time and time again. The Rangers go out and sign or draft top notch defenseman that have amazing potential to play at the NHL level and they are never called up. Why you ask? Because Glen Sather would rather sign a used up has-been D-man like Wade Redden. Or trade for an alcoholic like Sandis Ozlonish.

In 1996 and in 2006 the Rangers used their 22nd and 21st picks to claim Jeff Brown and Bob Sanguinetti (respectively.) Where is Jeff Brown any way? That's right, he never played a single NHL game. What about Sanguinetti? It's been almost 3 years since the Rangers drafted him. He's doing great in the AHL but why hasn't he come up to play at the NHL level? Because of moves like Redden and Ozlonish, the Rangers managment and fans never get to see the real talent sitting in Hartford.

Maybe Jim Dolan puts a little too much confidence in Glen Sather and his ability or lack there of to perform his General Manager duties. Maybe Glen just needs to be fired. I know I want him fired. Don't forget, even after Dolan fired John Muckler and Neil Smith in the same year, Glen Sather still couldn't put a playoff contention team on the ice until 2005-2006 season.

You could make the argument that Neil Smith had screwed the Rangers before he left and caused that continued playoff drought. But Glen Sather was the one who signed Theron Fluery, Bobby Holik. He's is the man responsible for trading for Eric Lindros and Pavel Bure and getting rid of Mike York and Kim Johnsson. He's had some good moves with the acquisition of Jamr Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Sean Avery and King Henrik. But now, he's not looking to good. After letting Jagr and Shanny walk and only aquires Nikolas Zherdev to replace them. Later at the trade deadline he finally gets some scoring help with Nik Antropov and gets another D-man with Derek Morris. But Antropov is a UFA at the end of the year.

It's time for a change in management. All types of businesses do it and now the Rangers need to do it by firing Glen Sather. It took Sather 5 months to realize he needed scoring help before he pulls some moves at the trade deadline. Even after that the Rangers make it in to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. It's time for this team to make some changes, dump some salary and start building this team with young strong talent that can score. Make the best of what you can with Redden. Eventually he'll be a free agent or be traded.

      One final note-

The Rangers tee off against the Capitals tomorrow in Washington D.C. at 1 p.m. est. The lead 1-0 in the series and hope to get another before heading back to the Garden where the fans have been known to kill at will. I'm sure Dancing Larry will be in attendance. LETS GO RANGERS!

Blueshirt Banter Callahan for Captain Campaign-Some pregame satire

Should Callahan take over has Captain?

   Callahan_r_0321_action_buf_medium

Or should Drury continue to wear the "C" ?

  Drury_medium

I have insiders with the Rangers who tell me there is some turmoil going on between Ryan Callahan and Chris Drury. After the devastating loss to Boston and Carolina, Ryan was seen getting into a very loud verbal argument with Chris and almost coming to blows.

Most of the alledged argument took place in front of the team and Coach John Tortorella. Callahan and Drury were quoted saying...

Ryan-"Hey Chris, feel free to get up off your ass and lead this team. I don't know if you realize this or not but the that "C" on your chest means your the F%$*ING CAPTAIN!"

Chris-" Hey kiss my ass. Who the hell are you to tell me how to lead this team. I've got 8 points in the past ten games."

Ryan- " So what,  I've got 9 points. Everyone else on this team including myself have been busting our ass to motivate this team. You step on the ice take a few crap shots and go sit down. Hope your happy with all the money your getting you over paid piece of (bleep)donkey(bleep.)"

There are even some things that can't be printed here on this website. Callahan does have a point. Sure Drury has 8 points in the last ten games but Callahan is almost ready to take over as leading goal scorer on the team. Lately when the Rangers score it's either by Callahan, started by Callahan or even done by players you don't see scoring that much.

Callahan left the locker room looking at Torts and stating he should be benching Zherdev and Drury. When the hot headed coach was asked about the small feud, all he had to say was that "the team is pissed and fustrated. We suck and we have no offense. Honestly Callie makes a good point, maybe he should be the Captain. But he should bring that up with Slats."

The next day, Callahan came into the locker room with campaign flyers to hand out ot everyone. Including Torts, Slats and Drury. Callahan had put up his slogan has being...

                                     "F&*@ DRURY! VOTE CALLIE!"

Drury was getting fed up and decided to come up with his own but I don't think it was very catchy....

                                             "DRURY...WHY NOT?"

The issue still hasn't been resolved and has made a strong petition to Glen Sather and John Tortorella about why he should be Captain. Hopefully a decision will be made before the Rangers host Montreal at 7pm tonight.

Callahan and Drury were not available for questioning saying they didn't want to add fuel to the fire. In other words, Callahan knows he's right and Drury needs to step up his game. Maybe something will be proven tonight on the ice.

Blueshirt Banter Quick and Simple

Listen, as a Ranger fan it can be tough to watch our team. They start the season like there gonna sweep the whole playoffs and have the Cup before another 54 year drought can finish. Than all the crap starts happening. Rangers can't score, they can only win a shootout, no defense AND offense, constantly playing flat, god forbid they check someone. They went from cup contenders to looking like bottom feeders.

But some how, for some odd reason, the hockey gods shined over our great land known as Madison Sqaure Garden. The hockey god's said, "LET THERE BE LIGHT!" Next thing you knew, Sather could think only about his team. He fires Renney and hires John Tortorella. Excellent move if you ask me. He should have been their coach years ago, but hey, us fans don't run the team, we just help pay there salary.

Then, as if having a stroke, moves is shaking hand to the phone to make a big move.  A move that will change the grit and morale of the New York Rangers. He picks God himself SEAN FREAKIN AVERY up off the re-entry waivers to come help this debacle of a team. God gladly and proudly steps back into a blue sweater to continue to kick some hockey ass and browse the NY corners for some loving.

Finally, after giving much thought to the trade deadline, he pulls out the big guns and makes some good trades to bring Antropov and Morris to help the D and O. I think what was most surprising about these moves is that he gave little and he dealt with TWO gm's he's never really had any dealings with before. OH MY GOD! Sather really wasn't being selfish and looking out for his own ass. I promise you this, he was on the chopping block next. But that would have been great, cause then maybe the Messiah, our bringer of thine cup, would become GM.

So tonight I get to watch the New York Averys kick some Wild booty and hopefully move up in the playoff race. They played flat in the last game and lost Roszival for a week or maybe longer. But today is a new day and a new game with a different team. Their will be no game prediction or simulation (screw you NHL 09) but if a rally is needed I will be changing jerseys. Gotta go do my dancing and sacrificing. LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!

My god...look at that thoat punch...who isn't Averys' bitch.

Blueshirt Banter New York Rangers vs. Buffalo Sabres

Tonights a big game for the New York Rangers. Their fighting for a top four spot to have home ice advantage plus I'm sure their tired of being at the bottom of the bracket and having to kick the NJ Devils ass on a regular basis.

Speaking of kicking Devils ass, i remember stating in my last post about broduer being afraid of Avery. Now, why was that agian? Oh yeah...

Photobucket

...that's why. Hey, I'm proud of Avery. He has done alot fot the game of hockey today. He's proven what a little girl Brodeur can be...

Photobucket

...see, I told you. Plus he's noticed some faults witht the rules of hockey and politely proved it by throwing his stick in Brodeurs face. Funniest thing he's done next  commenting about his ex-girlfriend and sloppy seconds. So because of his attention to detail, Avery helped create the "Avery Rule." Take a look...

Thats why I can't stand it when the referees or the papers pick on Avery. He's done alot for the game and it's fan's. So to pay homage to Mr. 16, I'm gonna sacrifice a goat, and dance naked while eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. What? It's what the Rangers do before every game, including Avery. LETS GO RANGERS!!!

Blueshirt Banter Sean Avery: Myth or Legend

Just like all of my brothers, I am a HUGE New York Rangers fan. At times when they may absolutely stink like yesterdays' diapers, I still watch and root for them when I can, which isn't easy considering I live in Las Vegas and only catch the national games on NBC on a Sunday.

Since the firing of Tom Renney/ hiring of John Tortorella they've been playing a hell of a lot better. Not to mention their acquisitions at the trade deadline. Bringing in Nik Antropov and Derek Morris were two additions they needed badly.

But no player does more for the Rangers than god himself. The man with the most grit in the NHL. The man you love to hate but wish he was on your team. The man that has caused a new rule for the referees to watch for. His name? Sean freaking Avery.

When #16 is in the line up the Rangers have put up an overall record of 56-25-23 in his two stints with the Blueshirts. How does he do it you may ask? Let me tell you 10 unknown facts about Avery that not a lot of people know:

  1. The top of Averys’ head is actually a fist. He just paints it blue to shut the referees up.
  2. Avery doesn’t send any e-mails. When he checks you, he figures he gets the message across.
  3. Sean Avery is never wrong. If he were to be wrong just once, the earth would implode.
  4. Sean Avery is the universe. We are all just as much a part of him has he is a part of us.
  5. Everyone has a skeleton in their closet. Chuck Norris has 7,483. Sean Avery has none. Avery knows how to discard a body.
  6. In 1961 Sean Avery had taken part in a cloning experiment by the US government. The result was the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team.
  7. After Avery scores a goal, he picks a random woman to have sex with. Eighteen years later his offspring will score a goal and then have sex with a random woman. Avery considers this the Circle of Life.
  8. Sean Avery cuddles with a humpback whale when he sleeps.
  9. While serving his suspension from the NHL, to help stay in shape Avery went on a coke and whore diet
  10. The movie 300 was actually inspired by Averys’ sperm attacking a womans’ egg. But the budget didn’t allow for 300 million Spartans.
