Attitude is important!
While reflecting on the Colts-Titans game and thinking about the QB situation for Tennessee, I am truly realizing how lucky we are in Indy. I saw the post game interview with Manning and Collie.....both total class acts, humble and great at the same time. And, the work eithic of those two is nothing short of amazing. And, then while reading an article in pro-football weekly by Hub Arkush called...Colts, Titans Heading In Opposite Directions, the Vince Young issues became even more obvious. The articles says,
'Most disconcerting was the approach of Vince Young on what he seems to believe is his march to the Hall of Fame. Young spent the first three quarters on the sideline hiding under a gray hoodie and Titans parka while some of us on the sideline were in shirtsleeves on a cool but pleasant Nashville evening. He appeared to completely ignore Collins, Fisher, the polaroids and anything else related to the game on the field. And once he was finally told to warm up in the fourth quarter to enter the game, he made a few half-hearted throws without bothering to lose the parka and sweatshirt and never even bothered practicing a snap or two from center. Once in the game, his three incomplete pass attempts were the same half-armed, three quarters delivery slings that gave Collins the job a year ago.'
And, the Titans fans are still wondering if he's their future?

Cardiac Colts?
I was wondering if we are seeing the beginning of the end of the Cardiac Colts. This last game, after a slow start, felt like a kind of a throwback to 2005, when the Colts were winning consistently by double digits. It was as complete a game as I've seen in a while. Not that there weren't a couple of close games in 2005, but for the most part, that 2005 season the Colts truly looked unstoppable. That's the way they looked Sunday night. I can't begin to express how incredible I think Garcon is, in every aspect. I expect more great things from him as the season progresses. I want to get to the point where Peyton is just as likely to throw to him as Wayne. Donald Brown is a keeper, nuff said there. And, if the Colts can get another 20 point win against Seattle, the Cardiac Colts may be in trouble. Not that I don't have a certain amount of affection for them. They cut it very close in those games, but usually pulled out a win. But, just the same, I'll be happy to see them go!

Manning is top QB according to Sporting News NFL
Manning is rated the number one quarterback in the league according to Sporting News NFL. Did anyone else happen to see this? Manning was rated number one and Brady was number two. If someone else has already commented on this, forgive me please. It's nice to see that the greatest QB in the league is getting his proper recognition. The Steeler's Troy Palomalu was quoted as saying that Peyton got number one because he carries the whole team on his shoulders.

Ultimate team
With all this talk the past couple of days regarding Dungy both in Tampa and Indy, it got me thinking a bit more about it. Picture the following scenario. Peyton Manning hits Wayne on a 15 yard sideline route for a first down. Then, on the next play, Manning throws a short backfield pass to Addai, who starts to run, but then throws it to it back to Manning who hits Harrison in stride for a perfect TD pass of 25 yards. Then, after kicking the extra point, Vinatieri boots one deep and it's a touchback. The Indy defense takes the field, which consists of Kelvin Hayden, Booger McFarland, Derrick Brooks, Bob Sanders, Warren Sapp, John Lynch, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Gary Brackett, Ronde Barber, etc. and they have destruction in their eyes and they're out to allow absolutely ZERO points scored. Just thought it sounded interesting.

Is the season really over?
I don't think so. If there is one thing I've learned about the Colts these past few years, it's to NEVER count them out. Fans are understandably discouraged at this time, but if they win at home next week, it brings them to 500. And, while we'll all admit that it's been a very rocky first half of the season, there's a good chance that they'll finish the second half better than they played the first half. Sanders will be back at some point, and the defense is a completely different defense with him on the field. Let's face it, we Colts fans have been spoiled rotten over the past few years. By Colts standards, they're playing bad. But, winning one out of every two games is what a bad Colts team is doing. Some 'bad' teams in this league are winless. So, when the guys finally get it together and finish the second half of the season stronger (which I think they will), the playoffs are definitely a possiblity. And, it might be better to have a Colts team in the playoffs, which has faced some adversity along the way. I'm going to put a little faith in the 'resiliency' of the Colts. Let's not give up the ship yet!

Chris Collinsworth
continually makes me sick. In recapping today's action, he's said on more than one occasion that the Colts could easily be 0 and 4. But, he fails to mention they could easily be 3 and 1 too. What a jerk! I'm starting to put him in the same category as Tony Kornheiser. It is what it is Chris. If a couple key plays didn't happen in the Chicago game, Indy might be 4 and 0......and that's with being somewhat out of sync so far and Peyton shaking some serious rust off.

Some thoughts two days later
It's always a bitter pill to swallow....losing. However, there are some things to feel good about too. First of all, it's great to be a fan of a class organization, which is classy in defeat as well as victory. Remember, some coaches don't even shake hands with the opposing QB when they lose (wonder who I'm talking about).
Also, our QB is still standing and knocked some serious rust off in the opener. If our receivers would have made the plays on the ball that they usually do, we would be 1-0. We could be in the Patriot's position.....not a good alternative. In other words, I'd rather lose the opener, than lose our franchise QB.
Thirdly, we don't have Vince Young in our organization. Nothing against him personally, but I'm just not a fan of whiney, moody, border-line psychotic players.....especially ones who are not accurate in throwing the ball. The Titans probably don't realize it, but having Vince out is the best thing that ever happened to that organization.
And, while I'm discussing QB's, let's just be glad we don't have Philip Rivers in our organization. Just the sight and sound of him makes me ill.
Freeney and Sanders are back and looking good. That's a huge point.
And one last thing, even though our great receiver Marvin, probably cost us the last two games, at least he doesn't feel the need to change his name to Ocho Ocho. My bet is he never fumbles again. Let's hope it's out of his system.

This Just In.......
Preseason football officially sucks! I absolutely can't stand preseason football. It's difficult to even call it football. I wish they'd do away with it all together!! Sorry, I got a bit carried away. O.K........I'm better now. Now, I realize that teams say they need preseason football to evaluate talent. I say that they should evaluate players in training camp. There's no way that fans should be subjected to the debacle they witnessed last night at Lucas Oil Stadium. Even when we, as fans, know it's second and third stringers playing, it's still a difficult pill to swallow. It's like watching the replacement players of the late 80's.....that was a lot of fun. The Colts should pay the fans if that's what we're going to see. And, there's also no way that great players, such as Saturday, should be injured in a completely meaningless, stupid preseason game. So, again, I say......do away with these stupid games completely. When teams suit up for the first time each year, let the games count and let the chips fall where they may. And, I think it's obvious, at this point, that Lorenzen and Gray officially suck too. If the Colts, God forbid, were to be without Manning, for let's say....6 games, I seriously doubt we'd win one game with either of those guys at the helm. Sorgi is looking better all the time. At least I feel he would be able to lead the Colts to two or three wins out of the six games. And, for anyone who watched the Bucs and Texans last night, Chris Simms looked awful too.....inaccurate, holding onto the ball too long, getting sacked as usual. So, I truly don't think he'd be any upgrade. Will the real Indianapolis Colts please take the field!??......please!
