Announcement about research project involving StampedeBlue

Dear StampedeBlue Community, This fan post concerns a research project involving StampedeBlue that I plan to work on in fulfilment of a Master’s degree in Digital Communication and Culture at the...

Panthers Sign Mike Pollak

1

Happened yesterday. In case anybody was wondering if Pollak could replace Jeff Saturday at center and be one of the few Polian-drafted free agents to remain on the team.

Compensatory Draft Picks Predictions

2

A fan post over at Mocking The Draft that speculates the Colts could get a 4th Rounder for Session, a 6th Rounder for Johnson, and a 7th Rounder for Sanders, whereby Kerry Collins' signing might negate the 4th Rounder or 6th Rounder.

Peyton Manning's surgert went "very well, without complications"

1

Obviously this is good news though I doubt they would say anything different if there were problems. My hope: Manning returns after the team's bye week for Week 12 on Nov. 27, one week before the annual Pats-Colts game and with six more games to go in the season.

A summary/clarification of what happened to Manning over the weekend

+

Peter King: "when he [Manning] reported to the Colts for his normal rehab work, his back hurt. And that pain was more acute Sunday. So it seemed natural for Manning and the Colts to call in the experts who had been consulting on his case for more discussion, which seems likely to occur today or Tuesday."

Colts most efficient draft team from 2002-2009

1

It's an interesting read, and obviously up for debate, but I believe even BBS agreed that Nate Dunlevu usually bases his arguments on "facts." Bottom line from the article: "It's clear that Bill Polian and the Colts' scouting department are drafting as well as they ever have and doing more with less than any other front office in the NFL."

DE Brooks Reed to visit Colts

Arizona pass rusher who could offer depth. Credit goes to Ty46 whose previous fan post on Kenrick Ellis links to a whole list of prospects that the Colts have been in touch with. Thanks!

Nick Caserio (NE) Pre-Draft Conference

3

I know that it's about the Patriots but it's a very interesting 30-minute clip about the pre-draft process. If you have the time, I believe it's worth the look - even though it's the Pats.

Good draft hit rates according to Bill Polian

1

A good read that kind of goes along with the previous ranking that put the Colts at No. 3 overall in drafting during the last years. Again, it doesn't really address how "good" a player is, but measures it based on whether or not he's on the roster and starting.

Players taken at No. 22 in previous years.

The list is not too exciting but I thought it was still an interesting piece of information.

Polian approaches Draft as if Colts' FA are gone

7

Interesting little article about Polian's draft strategy in the case that the NFL lockout is not lifted before the Draft.

Collie working out

4

Looks like he's confident to start throwing with Peyton again. A good sign?

Colts interested in Syracuse OL Ryan Bartholomew

1

I was waiting for this to happen, he reminds me so much of Jacques McClendon.

Bleacher Report Colts 7-Round Mock Draft (David Dietz)

+

In light of the recent post about the Colts' seven round mock draft, I thought I'd link two more seven-round mock drafts from bleacherreport. I don't think the quality is all that great, particularly getting Liuget or Paea in the second round seems very idealistic, and the Justin Tyron trade is not properly factored in, but still maybe a fun read for a study/work break.

Nate Solder to visit Colts this week

1

You can't say they aren't doing their job with Solder and Smith visiting and Sherrod apparently on the radar as well.

Coltzilla defends Bill Polian against Mel Kiper's criticism

21

Definitely worth reading. Provides some very good points, particularly regarding the fact that the Colts are built around Peyton which implies that he is irreplaceable for us.

UNLV tackle Matt Murphy worked out today for Colts

1

The Bills and Dolphins are apparently interested as well. Looks like a late-round, UFA candidate...right in line with Polian's approach.

Trent Dilfer, Chris Mortensen and Mel Kiper Jr. preview Indianapolis' 2011 NFL Draft needs

6

No surprises here, though I am not sure I agree with the notion that the Colts would be "picking 1,2,3,4..." without Peyton Manning.

Auburn DT Zach Clayton visiting Colts

+

Had a really good pro day and looks like a late round selection.

With the 22nd Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select...

Let's not kid ourselves. The loss against the New York Jets still hurts. Especially because it was rather unnecessary. The only thing that slowly helps me to recover is look ahead to next season...
