Gamble walked out of practice

Well, we finally know why Gamble was benched for Cleveland, but the question is with Munnerlyn's performance last week, does he keep the start or does Gamble come back into the lineup?

Are the 2010 Panthers are the 2003 Chargers?

This is something that I've brought up a couple of times before, but week after week, I can't shake the similarities between our teams.  Of all the organizations in the last 5 years, the Chargers...

The Clausen Drinking Game

As first brought up by Jaxon in order to make this season a little more tolerable, I've devised a full blown drinking game based around our rookie QB, Jimmy Clausen.  The rules are simple.  You...

Sizing Up the Panthers Free Agent Class of 2011

Here's a look at the panthers 2011 Free agent class and what the Panthers may choose to do with them

Identity Crisis: 2011

Amidst all the talk of the Panthers coaching issues, I realized something that I hadn't thought of before now.  All that I really know of the Panthers I know of during the John Fox era.  I was a...

Give Clausen the ball next week, even if Moore is healthy, and don't take it away. The next eight games count. The 2011 draft counts more.

Tom Sorensen - Not much a fan of the Observer (with exception of Gantt and Persons), but the article seemed to hit home what I was thinking.

The Offensive Panthers Offensive Line

A look at possible changes to the Panthers offensive line; stats view

An Open Letter to Mr. Richardson

Dear Mr. Richardson, It is with a somewhat heavy heart that I write to you today.  This whole year has been terribly frustrating to us, as it must also be for you.  In the Carolinas, we set the bar...

T. Davis on track for Nov. 14 return?

"Still trying to make that Tampa Bay game. So look out for me." It's funny that the Observer gives conflicting reports in the same article. One saying he wants to be back for Tampa, the other saying he doesn't have a set date. If the Tampa date is really when he wants to be back in, that puts him less than 2 weeks away...

Football Outsiders: Playoff Odds (ouch...)

This was actually something I have been keeping an eye out for a while now. They have broken down each team using their own ranking system to give the statistical odds of making the playoffs. Basically... this is as close to "mathematical chances" as we can get until being mathematically eliminated. Carolina Panthers: 0.2% chance of making the playoffs. Only Buffalo at 0.0% chance has a lower ranking. The good news? It's based off our stats, which if you consider the first 5 games an aberration then you're not going to believe this anyway. The bad news... It's probably the most in-depth analysis of statistical likelihood you're going to find.

Calm in a Storm

Here is my dilemma...  The Panthers are 1-5 after 7 weeks into the season.  Our playoff chances, at this point in time, really are nonexistent.  I have a better chance of winning the PowerBall than...

Charlotte Observer: Kasay Gears up for Possible Lockout

This was a great, insightful Q&A with John Kasay and if you haven't read it yet I think you should. John Kasay is the Players Association representative for the Panthers and that puts him in a unique position as we head into the possibility of a lockout.

Short Quarterback Poll

There are a lot of little feelers I'm seeing across the board, so I thought I would throw this out there.  I'm actually more interested in this from a personal standpoint to see where people...

The Panthers Rebuilding Year: It's Here

A fans view of the Panthers now confirmed Rebuilding Year

Fun Friday from the CarolinaGrowl

9. Funny story of the week: If you’ve been following closely, you know that Clausen’s fumbled snaps on Sunday didn’t come as a surprise. It’s been a problem throughout training camp. So a few of us sportswriters began wondering if Clausen’s hand size could be a factor. The funny thing was watching a half dozen writers gazing down every few seconds to get a look at Clausen’s hands while he spoke to the media on Monday. I'm not sure if Clausen became paranoid, but at some point he put his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants. By the way, I’m not into measuring the size of a man’s hand, but if I had to make a guess I’d say they’re medium. Not big. Not small. Just medium. I guess. I know one thing, they certainly aren’t as big as Vinny Testaverde’s mitts. I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. It was a good read overall and those who haven't checked it out probably should.

Marty Schottenheimer on Mac Attack

The interview starts at around 21 minutes into the program. Marty talks about everything from Clausen to the coaching situation. Also cover the possibility of him stepping into the HC position as well as his son Brian. He says he's not interested in the position, sadly... They don't cover the Panthers for long, but the interview was a good listen (not so sure about the rest of the show though...)

Talk is Cheap: Putting Panthers' Purge in Perspective

Snappy title, I know! Basically, I wanted to take a little time to instill some confidence in the fanbase about Jerry Richardson and what he did this offseason to ensure we would have a bright...

Clausen "more than likely" starts against Saints

Seems like Fox hasn't completely given up on the kid yet. I'd be thoroughly disappointed if he did. There's nothing worse than a QB controversy, especially one that you engineer yourself. Stability is much needed at this position and constantly shuffling between the two QBs would not fix our problems.

Panthers Running Back Quandry Thickens

A fans perspective of the Panthers growing RB quandary...they now have 3 good RBs and not enough carries to go around

Fox: Clausen to start

At least we won't have to argue all week about it. I must say I'm surprised he announced it so early, but at the same time I'm glad he did. It'll keep the leadership from being up in the air all week going into the next game.

Could Charlotte fall out of love with the Panthers?

Peter St. Onge of the Charlotte Observer is saying that is a distinct possibility. He says that Richardson is in much the same situation as former Charlotte Hornet's team owner by making moves such as cutting popular players in an attempt to save money and putting John Fox in a lame-duck position. I'm not sure I agree. What's your take?

Who would replace John Fox?

Will he stay or will he go?  Will he even be asked?  I honestly don't know.  I like John Fox.  He is the first person to really turn the Panthers into a perennial playoff contender.  In his tenure,...

What did we learn against the Steelers?

No seriously, that's an honest question... I must admit, I am a little disappointed with this game.  I came into the Steelers game thinking I would be able to better understand our team.  I came...
